One thing you didn't mention is it's helpful to acclimate to high altitude over a couple of days and to limit your alcohol and edible consumption. The air here sucks moisture from your body. You sweat, but don't get wet. You must carry water and use sunscreen if you are active and in the sun.
I grew up in Denver (Lakewood), and worked at the old Stapleton Airport for a time. I also was very fond of the North part of town, and loved the great Italian restaurants like Roxy Carbone's and the Three Sons. I'm sure they're long gone by now. Also, since Denver always had a huge Mexican migrant population, you could get the best authentic food. YUM! I used to go to Larimer Square and see movies at The Flick, which is also long gone, and sometimes ate at the Spaghetti Factory, just because I liked sitting in a trolley car to have dinner. Also worked at the Paramount Theatre when it showed actual movies.
However, if you stay at the Hyatt Peña Station by the airport, the train station is literally across the street from it. It’ll take you right into downtown’s Union Station and Larimer Square. Saves you money on rental cars and Ubers. Plus it’s a really cool place to stay. Enjoyed your video! 😀

Wondering about the parking situation when visiting some of your suggested spots like Union Station, Avanti, the parks? Thank you! I have really enjoyed your videos.
Thank you so much for watching! Union Station can be tough, as is the 16th Street Mall, but you can find parking in a lot using an app like SpotHero. Avanti has free valet parking at night, but I usually park on nearby street. You should be able to find street parking for the parks pretty easily too! 🙂
Real specific question, what is the walk like from Belleview Station to the Denver Marriott Tech Center? It looks walkable on Google Maps but is it relatively safe or a little risky? (cars, etc); I'm coming to Colorado Anime Fest 2025 next March and that is the venue for the convention and I also booked a room at that place (at the special convention rate). I'm planning on hanging around the venue most of the time. It looks like the light rail runs hourly which is a bit disappointing; that's a long time to wait for a train if you just miss one, whether coming from downtown or headed back there. Also, it looks like the closest Light Rail station to Union Station is actually a few blocks north of Union Station proper, is that correct? Lastly, what's the weather like in March? I'm told to expect snow.
The Tech Center, especially that area, is totally fine to walk from the station to that hotel. If you’ve been to big cities, it will feel very safe and it’s a generally very nice area (grab a burger at Tap & Burger and breakfast at Urban Egg!) with a short walk, as long as you’re not in heavy snow. Those two blocks from Union Station to the light rail are very manageable. It’s not like walking a NYC avenue block by any means. And yes, I’d expect snow or wintery conditions ⛄️ March and April are very snowy months here!
Hi everyone ! I'm gonna come to Denver in October for few months and live at my friend's house in Westminster. Does anyone have a suggestion when it comes to the rental company ? I can think of the biggest ones but maybe there are some, cheaper ways to rent a car for few weeks/months ? Thanks a lot !
If you're not visiting in the winter, one of my favorite tours is by Mile High Bike Tours. It's such a fun way to see a bunch of different parts of the city!
I was thinking to visit Colorado this summer but after visiting so many websites claiming it’s dangerous to visit and #3 highest crime rate state… I’m canceling my plans.. but I’m so sad :(
A few things: The city is not that hard to navigate. Avenues run east and west. Streets run north and south. Broadway St splits east from west and blocks generally are numbered 100, 200, 300, etc. Ellsworth Ave splits the north from the south. Numbered avenues are on the north side and named avenues are south. But there are some exceptions. Downtown Denver is different. Think of the street layout as turned about 45 degrees from east/west. There are one way streets there so watch the signs. Then, the naysayers posting here may well be old liberals who flooded in from CA after the protest group Common Cause succeeded in getting the USOC withdraw its invitation to Denver to host the 1976 Winter Olympics. It will never be offered again. Denver is a sanctuary city so there are many uninvited illegals here. As one poster warned “Watch your stuff.” Colorado has legalized some drugs too, so watch out for zombies. Once you get outside of Denver proper, you’ll be fine. Boulder is kind of pretty but without the University of Colorado and some government research facilities, there’s not much there. One last thing. Red Rocks is not in the mountains. It rests at the base of the hog back or foothills of the front Range. It IS worth the drive.
i visited Denver for the first time last year and i arrived after sunset. and as we were going in for landing i just kept thinking "where the hell am i?" b/c it was so dark, there were zero lights and it wasn't' until flying out a couple days later in the morning that i saw how out in the middle of nothing the airport is haha
Not for long. Developers are selling land for homes and businesses as fast as they can. Then the noise complaints will be numerous just like at the old airport site.
Hi, new viewer here. Where is this location at timeline 9:18? Also, could you please not use acronyms without explaining what they stand for. Many of us outside the Denver metropolitan area are not familiar with them. For example, RINO. At first, I thought you said, “rhino”. (Smiling)
9:18 is McGregor Square! 🙂 While I can’t edit the video after it’s posted, I appreciate that feedback! Most people and publications use the shortened names (RiNo for River North, LoDo for Lower Downtown, LoHi for Lower Highlands) for most neighborhoods, but luckily you can search with the shortened names for most of them since our local publications like Westword and Denver Post use them too!
White pie is good- but what I received for $20+ was a pizza the size of a paper plate- and the pizza itself weighed about as much as a paper plate as well. I’ve legitimately gotten a single cheese slice that was more food than this $20 entire pizza
Not true! I’ve been twice. The botanical gardens are beautiful, Boulder is fun, and Breckenridge is beautiful. If you have time, the Stanley Hotel where The Shining is inspired by is a must see.
I've been in Denver since 1976. Personally, I dont get the draw. The town is not that cool. I guess if your a transplant it's ok. But nothing spectacular. Head to the mountains, it's lots better but bring your wallet. Denver is overrated
Worst thing about visiting Denver - visiting Denver. VERY heavy traffic, VERY dirty air .Elitches can NOT compete with Three Flags and others. The Natural History Museum is nice, but again the Smithsonian is much better. Coming for the Broncos? Get in and then get OUT!! Raised in Denver, visited almost every state and definitely know the truth. Estes Park is as crowded as NYC. Rocky Mountain has the glacier drive (Trail Ridge) but be ready to crawl up and down it ( bumper to bumper and everyone afraid of the drops). Otherwise, the mountain scenery just can't compare with some of the other states.
Denver Used to be a great place to live an visit! Then all the california chicago new yorkes showed up running the Prices in crime up! If you like crime and overpriced places you'll love to visit colorado! Legal marijuana attracts very weird people and it's a Sanctuary city!
6 Big Mistakes People Make When Visiting Denver: 1 - They visit Denver. 2 - They visit Denver. 3 - They visit Denver. 4 - They visit Denver. 5 - They visit Denver. 6 - They visit Denver. Though more seriously, Red Rocks is definitely a cool concert venue, but unfortunately they don't enforce the law there so you have all of the druggies smoking marijuana (and regular cigarettes) there which is illegal to do in public and you have to spend the entire time breathing all that crap and can't enjoy any show.
You don't own the world people are allowed to visit and our population has been going down. After people see How much dog s*** is all over the ground and the dog nuts out here they'll never want to come back so don't worry.
We of Charlotte NC feel your pain to the fullest. That's why anytime is see someone with a Colorado plate, flag, or team sport, I salute y'all. These damn New Yorkers are taking over 😂😂😂😂😂

Thank you so much for watching! Union Station can be tough, as is the 16th Street Mall, but you can find parking in a lot using an app like SpotHero.
Avanti has free valet parking at night, but I usually park on nearby street. You should be able to find street parking for the parks pretty easily too! 🙂
@@davechung thank you!

Are there good 1 day tour around denver?
If you're not visiting in the winter, one of my favorite tours is by Mile High Bike Tours. It's such a fun way to see a bunch of different parts of the city!
I was thinking to visit Colorado this summer but after visiting so many websites claiming it’s dangerous to visit and #3 highest crime rate state… I’m canceling my plans.. but I’m so sad :(
Cool. We should hang once im there. You can show me around
Are there hip hop clubs there?
Kind of, but not really in the “this is all we play” way. It’s more common for clubs to have different floors or theme nights.
Simply No.....Just Top 40 Rap
River bar holds it down.
i visited Denver for the first time last year and i arrived after sunset. and as we were going in for landing i just kept thinking "where the hell am i?" b/c it was so dark, there were zero lights and it wasn't' until flying out a couple days later in the morning that i saw how out in the middle of nothing the airport is haha
😂 so so true! It’s pretty shocking if you were expecting to land in a city!
@@davechung , thanks for the referral; and greetings from Southern California.
We have scooters to gat around also!
Wow! I had no idea that Denver was a major tourist destination
Don't eat at Elways restaurant! Absolutely horrible. The prices are ridiculous!
Thank you for adding this! 😀
3:54 you'll need a car, and please remember the left lane is for passing. get into the left, pass, then get over.
Rules of denver , People ride your ass when driving , the ez pass lane in denver dont cost the double line ..u will get a hefty ticket ...
Becareful people. Watch your stuff and your back 😀😂😀
Don’t forget about sloans lake
Was just there this weekend!

You didn’t discuss that Denver is one of the highest crime ridden cities in the nation. Downtown is NOT safe and 1/3 of downtown is vacant.
The airport is not 40 minutes from downtown Denver. You can easily drive to downtown in 20-25 minutes.
If you stay at a hotel by 16th St. you will realize that the best thing about Denver is that it is so close to Colorado.
Slow down the first couple of days. The oxygen is lower.
White pie is good- but what I received for $20+ was a pizza the size of a paper plate- and the pizza itself weighed about as much as a paper plate as well. I’ve legitimately gotten a single cheese slice that was more food than this $20 entire pizza
all you gotta do is get high affff
My biggest mistake would be visiting Denver!
states full sorry
Not sure we live in the same Denver
Don’t go to denver simple jk
First mistake in visiting Denver was visiting Denver. Visit the small mountain towns instead, Denver is a dumpy and should be boycotted
So there is actually nothing to be done in Denver. If you compare these cities with European ones is like night and day
Not true! I’ve been twice. The botanical gardens are beautiful, Boulder is fun, and Breckenridge is beautiful. If you have time, the Stanley Hotel where The Shining is inspired by is a must see.
Safest time to be in Denver is 7am to 3pm. After that, you're on your own.
This is literally not true. WTF are you talking about lmfao
As a Colorado native, the biggest mistake is going to Denver.
No doubt 😂
Stay off coldfax
6 Big Mistakes People Make When Visiting Denver:
1 - They visit Denver.
I’ll make sure that I bring extra blunts next time, weed isn’t a drug 😂
@@paulcarmi8130 It's illegal to consume in public. It is most certainly a drug.

Mistake #1. Actually visiting Denver on purpose
No wdym visit Denver? It’s not a vacation spot, please stop coming here
#FACTS!!
These damn New Yorkers are taking over 😂😂😂😂😂
@@WolfenX4New Yorkers have been there for years. I lived there in 2004-2008. Thank the banks for choosing your city to set up shop.
We’re coming to your city. Get over it.
Best advice: Don't go to Denver. Next best: Stay inside after dark.
You’re acting like denver gets any actual tourists who aren’t just road tripping through
I hope none of you visit and don't move to denver
Don’t worry about that! I have been to Denver six times and nothing special about it just another big city and arrogant sports fans! Pacific Northwest is much more beautiful than Denver or even Colorado for that matter!
Hi from Austin TX. Looking to visit your city 😊
Hey hey! Hope you have a great time! We just did a great trip out to Austin 😀
Mistake #1 - visiting denver
Buying blues

#1 mistake you made is - you visited Denver ... . . Live 5 minutes North of Denver and i wont spend a single dime in that craphole.
