      Well done GS!!! remember the DCS is USAF certified so it follows that a pilot who knows his plane well can shoot down a "superior" plane sorry Flanker lovers the F-14 Tomcat can and is capable of shooting down Flankers or Migs with a good pilot at the controls, GS Please remember when the F-4E Phantom II is available.

    In fact, for the Flanker, the F-14 is a small fish. To confront the F-14, the capabilities of the MiG-23 Flogger and MiG-25 Foxbat were enough. But on the F-15, which turned out to be an excellent fighter at that time, the "teeth" of the Flogger were no longer enough. Therefore, the Flanker was created as a worthy answer to the F-15. Anything is possible in DCS.

    • @reapertalon
      @reapertalon Місяць тому

      Debatable. The F14D (With the APN-71 radar and the Aim54C would have been able to wipe the floor with Floggers, I'm pretty sure an F14B could have been able to deal with that) For the Foxbat, I would still say the F14 comes out on top. Sure, the Flogger has the speed but I'm just not sure. Smart flying by the tomcat crews could make all the difference.

      I think it fits. It’s a large twin engine fighter with great range and heavy payload.
      Granted the F-14 is dramatically different than the Flanker in many ways, but the basics are similar. Same with the F-15. They were the Thicc fighters of the 80s and 90s. They can represent each other as aggressors very well.

    Like the f-15 the tomcat was worthy of continued development. Had they moved a little faster it would quite possibly have been a lot more D models and maybe some of the multi-role variance that were being discussed.

    I've seen in other videos that you don't have to manually drop the flaps, breaking the Tomcat in order to win a dogfight. You only need to do that if you want to fly one-circle, the same way you fly the Flanker or Fulcrum. If you play to the Tomcat's strengths and fly 2-circle the Tomcat would win often, especially in prolonged fights.

  • @IRUKANJI
    @IRUKANJI Рік тому

    Since I've thought about it, you really don't shoot an enemy plane apart with the gun. You never really get "gun kills" unless it's a pilot, engine, or flight controls hit or maybe vertical stabs. You only have to hit a wing or elevator enough times to structurally weaken it and since most of the time they're pulling hard maneuvers the wings are already at the limit almost all those kills where a wing comes off are from the aircraft maneuvering under high G.
    So if it's a Flanker, F-18, or F-16 take as many potshots of opportunity as possible because if one or two lucky shells hit a spar the next Cobra or 9-G turn they try to pull they're gonna rip their own wings off.

    The Tomcat was my first favorite aircraft from an early age - I had bunch of F-14 toys when I was a kid, and even named my pet cat Tom.
    These days, I'm honestly not sure what my favorite aircraft is, but it's great to see that apparently, the Tomcat was always more than the sum of its parts.
    Thanks for sharing ❤️

    Given the choice I think the commander would prefer you coming home with a busted aircraft over you not coming home at all.

    When I was in the Navy, I though the "Tommy" was too big. Looking back now, I kind of miss the Cat.

    I'm kinda assuming that if the F14 stayed in service they'd reinforce the flaps to make the flaps more rugged.

      oh sure! if it was financially viable, they totally can reinforce/modernize the tomcat to be able to handle turns like this.
