    I hope this page is still active. Had a bad day. The Rupes rep came to the shop yesterday. I think it sucks for getting rid of sanding scratches for dirt nibs. I prefer to use the rotary with the wool pad for nibs and come back with the Rupes. He said go slow don't worry you won't burn it. Well I burn an edge on a Tesla today trying to go slow like he did after using the sanding method he taught us. Stops swirls but sucks for getting rid of scratches and non burning is a lie

    Great video! a lot of useful bits!
    when you're polishing and it's loud you could do with a voice over or something, not
    criticising but it could be a good addition!

    Thanks... ive just started with Rupes system (non pro)... using the DA polishes... so the priming is different to this video. Am getting this out this weekend to start on the bonnet of my Kia Sportage GTLine.... going with the yellow fine cut first (I dont have the uno as yet) with the yellow foam pad... although i could possibly on my car get away with Uno and a white wool pad.. will see. Keep up the good work!

    I have ALOT to learn!! Just purchased the Rupes 21, and want to learn how to use it correctly. I've been doing detailing work, but never used a polisher/buffer. I will be checking out your other videos too..

    Just used the Rupes 15 for the first time and it was 'brilliant', the outcome was more than I expected, BUT, wasn't sure what to use for sealant and wax. I used the JetStar and 835 wax but it brought a little dullness to the area polished. I have a polar white Merc, so need to get the 'brightness' right....

    I primed up a brand new Rupes wool yellow today with Uno Protect, but got bouncing or hoping, which reduced with pressure. Is this common when priming of on new pads? Any ideas.

    What do you do if the 1 x 1 passes don’t offer enough cut even with most aggressive compound and pad?

    • @detailingyoda1652
      @detailingyoda1652  4 роки тому +1

      Switch to microfibre, repeat and/ or modify your technique for more cut.

    • @georgepenny3648
      @georgepenny3648 4 роки тому +1

      Assuming I’m using microfibre is the best bet simply to remove polish and do another pass? Would these two 1 x 1 passes be more efficient than a single set of 3 x 3 passes? Thanks :)

      You can try slowing down your arm speed, and changing tool speed.
      Sometimes increasing speed will work against you, because it can cause the lubricants to dry out, and start to dust up badly (although some liquids are designed to dust away to keep the pad clean). So, slowing the speed down might be a solution, but not typically.
      Changing pressure might work. I'm not an advocate of heavy pressure, personally, but I'll sometimes lean on the polisher a bit, but I try and watch out for creating too much heat. With the Rupes system, they advocate for light pressure.
      Also check the amount of polish on the pad. A lot of people use way too much, and the pad can hydroplane over the paint, thus not engaging the abrasives. Too little compound doesn't work either. You want a thin film of polish to work over the surface.

    I'm slightly confused with this and I hope you can shed some light on it. If the polish, say Keramik (which I own) is non-diminishing as you say, then surely 2 sets will remove about twice what 1 set will? I mean, if one set doesn't quite do what I want correction-wise, won't a further set(s) do that?

    • @GeeWhizRS
      @GeeWhizRS 4 роки тому +1

    • @detailingyoda1652
      @detailingyoda1652  3 роки тому

      It's not that simple.. the defects may be more than twice as deep.. it's fair to say you will keep removing the same amount of paint though

    What’s your preference or what might the difference be if I used the Rupes formula vs using the Meguire’s micro fiber cutting and polishing pads and their m110 compound and m210 polish... as I see kits being sold with the rupes pads and polish, and other kits sold with the Meguiar’s... pros, cons,.. what’s your experience and/or opinion?? Thanks!!

      They are good. If you're having a hard time cleaning, try using a little less product and clean with compressed air 👍

    • @danlc95
      @danlc95 4 роки тому +1

      @@detailingyoda1652 I already use very little product. Any less, and I'd be using the pad alone to polish! 😆
      I do not have an air compressor at the moment. I usually just let the polish dry over night, and wash them the next day.
      Thanks!
