I only have one RF lens and that's the 85 1.2. I found your 16 mm a very interesting choice. I have plenty of EF L lenses to fill my gap. I'm still using an EOS R.
Great video as always! I went on an overseas trip recently and decided to take only the 35 1.4 and to keep things light, I am amazed by the IQ of it. I had some bloody amazing shots of my wife too. Its light, sharp and renders colours beautifully. I dont care about digital correction as the end result is simply fantastic.
I was hesitating between the 135mm f1.8 and the 70-200 f2.8. But finally, I get the 70-200 for a very good price. Also, I cover sport events, and hike a lot. For versatility, it was the best choice. For portraits, and street photography, I use the 85mm f2, which is great value for money. I subscribe to your channel. Very good photos, and explanations. Thanks a lot.
Truth be told. If I primarily shot events, I would absolutely have the 70-200. I do shoot events, as you saw in the video. But not as much as I shoot portraits. So I can make the 135 work. 85 f2 is incredible for the money. Thanks for the subscription and support!
Hi Kevin! Interesting choices. I have all the RF zoom lenses, the only prime I have is your #1, the 85mm f/1.2. I went for that one so I had something for portraits with that 3D pop from the bokeh. On lens corrections, so long as the corrections make the images top notch I don't see an issue with that, as there are optical limitations to what manufacturers can produce, every time they push one trait to a new limit they may need to correct one of the other traits to make the whole thing work. It's not as if people need to even think about it, the camera or software applies the corrections in the background, you never have to see the uncorrected image so don't go looking for it and you'll never worry about it.
Correct. The issue with the 35mm is a bunch of people get a hold of the lens before the digital profiles were available. So they saw the corrections and they decided to be bothered by it. Meanwhile, I stand by my claim that if you showed 20 different images to them shot at 35mm they wouldn't be able to point out which files were more or less digitally corrected when looking at the final result.
@@KevinDeal sounds like they had a meltdown 😂 I did watch a video on the RF10-20 which is Rectilinear and the video showed it has huge corrections, but it works great and I bought one, it's a great lens.
@@JohnScarrott I have the 14-35, which also has insane corrections. It's literally the main lens I use on my channel for when I talk to the camera in my studio. It looks fantastic.
Great video! I love what you are doing with the RF 16 f/2.8. I have a budget list. The RF 85 f/2 is at the top. I need to "fall in love" with my RF 35 f/1.8 and maybe pick up the RF 50 f/1.8 before leaping into the L-series primes. I have rented the heavenly RF 85 f/1.2. WOW!! I agree with others about the 100 f/2.8 and am thinking about upgrading from the EF to the RF version.
OK - the lens discussion - I understand that people enjoy that, That aside - I would like to see a video of your images and a discussion on each one. Not the lighting or camera stuff but anything else. Your photos are a cut above and it is pleasing to see them - cheers - Bruce
The 35 1.8 is my choice. I traded the crappy kit lens that came with my R50. It's my only lens. Still looking a full frame camera but having a blast with this set up.
The macro versions of the 35mm and the 85mm are good enough for me. Combined with the 16mm, this affordable trio is flexible enough to cover most situations.
A fine selection of lenses! I’m looking to add the 85mm and the 35mm to my kit but will take my time as I couldn’t resist the 200-400 for motorsport and 100-400 II for aviation EF L glass. However the EF 100 L macro colour when I use it is out of this world compared to everything else I own, even the EF 70-200 II L. I might compare it to the TSE 24 actually
Have you got your hands on this RF50mm F1.4 L VCM lens? VERY curious about your impressions regarding f1.4 bokeh vs f1.8 and best uses like studio or street.
What are your favorite Canon RF prime lenses that you use for portraits? Tell me about it below.

I'm on the road right now and I only took one lens with me. 35mm 1.4. Awesome choice.

16mm is underrated. The 35mm 1.8 is also an excellent lens. It's good for telling stories.

I appreciate it. I feel weird talking about my work. But it's something I need to get over. I'm planning on trying to diversify my format in 2025.
Love the video! Definitely agree with the 85 1.2 being up there!
Thanks! Yeah, after all these years, the 85 still rules

The 35 1.8 was absolutely in my top 5 before they came out with the 1.4 VCM version. The 1.8 would likely be my first choice to pair with an R50.

100% legit comment on your part. I love the 35mm Macro. I used to have the 85mm f2 but traded it for the bigger 1.2. But it still took amazing shots.
I love the RF 85 1.2, 28-70 2.0 (of course not a prime but anyways), and the 135 1.8😊
Yes. The 28-70 is my #1 or #2 lens for portraits.

I have not. I would like to get my hands on it soon.
My Lenses N0 1 : RF 50 f 1.8 // N0 2 : RF 28 f 2.8 // N0 3 : EF 40 f2.6 sim 😉
All great choices
Canon RF 100mm 2.8
Absolutely a worthy lens.
