    Solid short movie explaining Specialty coffee. I kinda wish they expanded to the home brewing, but I guess that would have extended the view time by another 10 minutes.

    It’s unbelievable the prevention of the comments below. And people think baristas are pretentious. Ha. The thing about coffee that’s not subjective is the rating a green coffee is given by different tasting professionals (a combination of Q-graders, roasters, importers, etc). Green coffee with very few defects and off tastes is actually a higher grade of coffee (read SPECIALTY). That’s where it starts, and roasters like the ones pictured in this film are the next ones in the chain to take this specially-produced coffee and roast it so that its natural nuances are easily tasted and not covered up...and these roasters do a damn good job at that. It then goes to baristas who are well-trained in extraction principles so they don’t mis-brew and ruin all this work. If you think all coffee is the same, I highly recommend attending a coffee cupping in your city before saying that this is a marketing ploy. We all need to wake up and give great producers the respect they deserve because they are literally pulling entire villages out of poverty by paying farmers fair wages in exchange for a better product. Don’t be satisfied with Starbucks or Dunkin or whatever you’ll find in the grocery store. Start with this simple google search to find a good shop near you: “Third wave coffee shops in Detroit/Dallas/Denver/Dover...”

    And 99% of what I buy in cafes and from shops in bags I dislike. Why is that ? , and I like coffee.There is this unspoken myth which imply' s anything served up by a Barista or cafe is good,not so in my experience. It's a minefield. Too much tech and faffing. too much chocolate and sugar. and flavoured sickly concoctions made up to sound good and maximise profits.

    Don't give a fig about the farm it came from or how it's roasted. That is the cafe's job. Just care what is in the cup when I drink it.
    btw, what is the point of Chemex with a metal filter?

    • @johndoeradiok
      @johndoeradiok 5 років тому

      It's the same as v60 with a metal filter. To reuse it and to extract oils in the cup.

      It's not just about that. A lot of coffee shops give of a really relaxed vibe and are often better to get work done in because your mind feels at ease because of the feeling the coffee shop gives off. I would much rather go to a coffee shop, have a talk with the barrista and work there then sit at home at my desk with a cup of coffee that is no where near the standard of a coffee shop.

    I have a feeling you’re purposefully paying for a guy to carefully put a stamp on the coffee bag, they even say it - it’s really just pushing the price up for the sake of having that category

    Specialty coffee shouldn't be roasted in 50 lb drum roasters and then stored in giant plastic trashcans...

    • @rubendariobatistabocharel7561
      @rubendariobatistabocharel7561 4 роки тому +1

      Why it shouldnt be roasted in 50 pound drums? The trash cans usually were never used for garbage, and usually roasters keep ir there for some hour to de gas, then later package/store it
