“Professors Martin Gilens and Benjamin I. Page looked at more than 20 years worth of data to answer a simple question: Does the government represent the people? “Their study took data from nearly 2000 public opinion surveys and compared it to the policies that ended up becoming law. In other words, they compared what the public wanted to what the government actually did. What they found was extremely unsettling: The opinions of 90% of Americans have essentially no impact at all.”
@@tolhumexy6706 He is always bitter and negative. Has nothing positive to say about anyone or anything. I can only take him in small doses. Sorry if that offends you.
@@jeffearle8172 Not offended, interested.I know he likes to be a sort of Oscar Wilde and can come across as arch but I'm amazed at how prescient he was about US politics and how he, while a politician, wanted to end Corporate greed and tax avoidance (plus wanting religion to pay tax), putting forward the ideas of different States. He is /was one of the few politicians who was actually for the common man and was able to back up his arguments using his great historical knowledge.
He's sour but it's hard to refute a lot of what he says. Those are obvious things about Vidal. What isn't obvious is that he is troubled or unhappy. That is purely your opinion.
Gore Vidal did great interviews, miss him a lot, love his take on political system
I really miss Vidal. There have been so few like him . He seems to have a grasp on power and how it is wielded.
this content has made my year !
me too
Tremendous stuff...the only irritation is when Vidal's flow is interrupted for some inane ads.
@@philiphalpenny3783 I can't stand them either.
@@philiphalpenny3783 Well, it helped get the money to pay him to come to the show... I can't blame them for having commercials.
omg he was the most witty smart fella, wish ide visited him in italy.....his home was legendary.
Much missed. Gore was a wit, wise, superb writer and had so much style.❤No one like him today😢
Somehow I have never seen Paul Ryan! Thank you!

When was 1980?
After 1979
@@RagingHamster8330 Not true. It was the year before 1981. That's at least what experts say.

That's some wig! Gore's is much more convincing.
A very troubled and unhappy person.
Why do you say that?
