Nick is ready to get his nose pierced. James starts by cleaning, sterilizing, and then marking the spot for the piercing. Nick gives his approval for the placement and the process proceeds. James uses a hollow receiving tube on the inside of the nose to receive the needle as is passes through the tissue so it doesn't injure the inside of the nose. The needle is followed out by the desired piece of jewelry. Once securely in place, the piercing is cleaned again.
The healing time on this piercing is about 3-4 months. Clean it with a solution of 1/4 tsp non-iodized sea salt and 8 oz of water. You can use a q-tip, cotton ball, or gauze to apply the solution with. Some redness and swelling is normal during healing. Ask your piercer if you have any questions or concerns during this time

Nice. I have a question, can you use a custom piece of Jewelry like a champagne diamond 14 carat gold 20 gauge stud for the initial piercing, instead of the standard stainless steal. I went to a piercing place, and they told me that I couldn't do that because "their studs were specifically made for swelling. I thought that sounded weird. I didn't press the issue any further. I would like to have a nose piercing, but I do not want to wait 4-6 weeks with a plain surgical steel stud in my nose . If anyone has any information that could help me clarify what the policies are that would be very cool.

Citizen Kimberly While your piercer is correct, there are shops that can use it. They just simply have to sterilize it first. It really depends on how the jewelry is made, though, and how much room there is on the bar. The nose doesn't swell up too much (at least not in my experience. I'm on my second nose piercing as we speak... well, 3rd if you count my septum LOL) but it does need some room to move around. Think of it like getting your ears pierced with a gun. All of the stuff that needs to seep out (I know it sounds gross) wouldn't be able to escape because the guns make it look like a one size fits all, when in reality everyone is different. This is the same thing with the swelling process for any other body part. :) I hope I helped at least a little.

Thank you so much Holly, it certainly did help. I am going to take a chance and purchase the stud that I wanted, then see if this new piercing place that I have been stalking will use it. If not, then I guess I will have to wait out the 4-6 week requirement. Who knows, maybe they might have a piece of Jewelry at their shop that I might like also. Again, thank you for your help...:) That was very cool of you..;)
