This makes a lot of sense in terms of the story of BF...After all this takes place in the same timeline as Bf3 and 4.. And in Bf3 Paris was levelled by an atomic blast.
Tbh this is the most based lore that Battlefield has. The geopolitical changes, climate changes, etc may sound exaggerated at first, but when you think about it, they can happen at any moment.
The fact that governments can actually fall apart and make the most devastating decisions at any moment, actually makes this story seem more accurate and more interesting because of that.
Hands down the best lore out of all Battlefield games, yet still the most unexplored one. There is literally no way around it: This game should've had a single player campaign.
in 2023 this future is starting to become more and more of a reality.. The floods, droughts, hurricanes, and everything are just getting worse... I think that Battlefeild predicted the future. I dearly hope I'm wong.
This looks like they were maybe 5 months into making a singleplayer campaign before it got scrapped. I imagine there's probably a huge stack of scripts, sequences, level sketches and character designs buried deep in EA headquarters. It's a huge shame. I really wanted to get 2042 because it made itself look like a direct BF4 sequel. Instead, we get blueballed by really interesting lore.
I love Battlefield but to me, DICE gives us cool chilling cutscenes of historical, global warming, and countries in War in 2042. But sadly, they don't give us a Campaign for it and that's what disappointed me. Multiplayer and Hazard are very fun to play but it doesn't somewhat relate to what the story is occurring.

Irl campaign in a few decades

Love how BF Main theme went from heroic and patriotic into a more messed up gritty and dark theme
Who’d thunk that the BF game with no campaign would be the one with the most world building

I wonder what happened to China, did it collapse after the war of 2020 as the events Battlefield 4 is canon in 2042’s story
i would've absolutely loved if they had a single-player ngl

Battlefield 2042 Lore:
Pretty unfortunate that this game doesn’t have a campaign because it actually looked like it could’ve kicked ass.
RIP Michael K Williams
So here's a list of the most interesting things I could discern from this cutscene:
Story: “there is no place left for humanity, no matter who wins”
Damn man the actor for Irish died a while ago, seeing this is a different level of heartbreaking
The music in the Background is so good and actually Sounds fitting for this Story.
2042 really looks like it could have had one of the most emotional, interesting, and downright heartbreaking campaigns ever.
