Krillep , Hogan is 50% of wwe history, not wrestling history. Hogan is a pimple on wrestling history's ass. He's nothing more than a cartoon character that worked the same match for 30 years. He's the king of the Vince McMahon saturday morning cartoon show, nothing more.
Hogan heel turn was the best because there were no internet spoilers at the time, and it really was a complete shock to the system. Was 13 years old when he did the unthinkable. The heel turn was so good grown man were legit angry at hogan. Watch the end of the match to see Scott Hall stomping a fan from getting into the ring to comfront hogan. The heel turn lead of George Michaels sports machine here in Virginia that night.
Except for Bobby 'The One Man Human Spoiler Machine' 'The Brain' Heenan, of course. And yes I know that if watched in real time it wouldn't have sounded like much of a spoiler because he was always suspicious of Hogan and (rightly) accusing him of being a scumbag, it's just funny to take the piss.
How WWE should book Cena heel turn: So this requires some substantial buildup. But bear with me. So it's early November of 2016, and the championship is currently on a heel Roman Reigns, who turned heel and won it from Triple H at Wrestlemania 32. Because of Reigns's heel turn, his friendship with Dean Ambrose has faded. Eventually their relationship is so strained that it culminates in a title match between Reigns and Ambrose at Survivor Series. Ambrose wins the belt to a HUGE pop from the crowd, both because of Ambrose's popularity but also because Roman has had a tyranical championship reign, pun intended. So Ambrose defends the belt against Reigns at TLC, and at the Rumble against someone like Cesaro or Dolph Ziggler in a top-babyface vs top-babyface match. That same night, Cena wins the Rumble, getting lots of boos (he'll still be booked as a face, but tying Stone Cold's record would get Cena an all time high of CENA SUCKS chants). Cena still acts like and is booked as a face though, making it clear he's fighting Ambrose at Wrestlemania out of pure respect, hyping the match as passing the torch (it'll be booked to seem like Cena is going to put over Ambrose). The two have a non-title match at Fastlane, which Ambrose wins after a technical masterpiece of a match. They shake hands, and Cena is still a face. At this point Stone Cold has shown up and said that he doesn't like the fact that Cena won the Rumble, and says he'll be in Ambrose's corner at Mania. On the other side, Ric Flair has said that he DOES want Cena to win his 16th title and tie Flair's record, putting himself in Cena's corner. The match is made a ladder match, and the build is set. During the match, Flair and Austin don't get involved at all. Ambrose and Cena have been fighting as faces, without too much aggression but still with crowd pleasing moves/spots. Towards the end though, the two are on the top of the ladder, and Ambrose smashes Cena's head into the top of the ladder, and hits a Dirty Deeds from the top of the ladder. Both men are down, but Ambrose gets up first and begins climbing the ladder (SLOWLY). He's abotu halfway up when Cena gets up, grabs him, and slams him to the floor. Cena rains on Ambrose, hitting him with HARD punches. Ambrose has a bloody nose, and is sufficiently knocked out. Austin gets involved and tries to pull Cena off of Dean, but in a fit of rage Cena hits Austin with an AA. Flair now gets in the ring, and yells at Cena for taking the "pure respect" out of the match. Cena gets in Flair's face, and the two scream at each other before Cena hits an AA on Flair as well. Cena is getting massively booed by now (obviously), and he turns to the crowd, then starts to climb the ladder, but stops, hits Ambrose with another AA, and does the You Can't See Me hand wave in knocked out Ambrose's face before turning back and climbing the ladder, unhooking the championship. Cena does the You Can't See Me to the camera, and holds the title up high. Cena is now fully heel, Ambrose has massive babyface heat, and you have a feud-of-the-year-to-be in Cena vs Ambrose. Boom.
I can't believe you left out the greatest Heel turn of all time. Vince McMahons. Before the Montreal screwjob, he was just a baby face announcer and it wasn't really mentioned that he owned the company. Brets own documentary helped turn him into the perfect heel in fans eyes for Austin to go up against. It worked so well it's the reason some people still think the Screwjob was a work.
Jake Roberts turning heel in 1991 was a big one for me. He was so beloved in the late 80s, and his slow turn from beloved fan favorite to evil ass heel when he started "teaching the Ultimate Warrior the secrets of darkness" was great
CM Punk's 2009 heel turn against Jeff Hardy is my personal favorite. It was such a slow dissension into "darkness" and every step of it made so much sense. I still remember how Punk snapped and beat the shit out of Jeff, and how he looked damn near euphoric afterwards.
+Crossy My top 3 snubs from this video would be that, Matt Hardy's turn on Jeff, and Mark Henry's "retirement" speech, that one almost made me cry before he turned. Speechless.
Damn Yes. Best wrestling out of ring but especially, in ring ever. Austin was always a solid technical worker and good brawler. But Hart drew out an inside the squared circle matches that were even better than the ones he and Michaels had. Spewed when WCW signed him away and so did Vince until that ****ing idiot Goldberg gave him permanent concussion and destroyed a man that could bring a five star match out of Yokofuckingzuna!!! R.I.P the kid who couldn't control his weight in real life though. Miss those days and matches so damn much.
One of the most underrated and effectively executed heel turns was Rick Martel turning on Tito Santana at Wrestlemania V. I never would have thought Martel could be a bad guy, and the way he was able to justify his turn (Santana hitting him with the flying forearm) was great.
Well after Shane o mac returned and pg went out the window with blood and Vince saying fuck...it's not going too strongly :) attitude era just...please, I don't care if it won't happen I just...have a dream I want as a reality
Jericho smashing HBK's face in the Jeritron was a big one for me, Andre owning Hulk Hogan was one I liked, Freebirds will ALWAYS be one of my favourites and I loved Steve Austin beating the hell out of Jim Ross, even though it was brutal.
This may not be as big, but I was thinking when matt turned againest jeff diring his match with edge. Now I kmow they've feuded a million times, but it was who matt helped. EDGE! The guy who took his women, and basically turned him into a deranged psychopath. Also matt would share it to the whole world instead of talking to edge in private. In my eyes, one of the most controversial moments ever.
+ed young Then when he told the story of lighting Jeff's house on fire, effectively killing his dog. I still thought wrestling was real at the time, I hated Matt.
Meh, that turn was two years too late. By 2009 the whole world had already seen enough documentaries and shoot interviews about the Hardy brothers to know that Matt turning on Jeff was a total work. Now if it happened when Shoot interviews were just beginning to emerge in 2007 (which is also when Matt was floundering) it would have been way more convincing. Their 2009 program was really good however.
Haven't watched the video yet but I think 10. Paul Orndorff 9. Ric Flair 8. Chris Jericho 7. Shawn Michaels 6. Bret Hart 5.Randy Savage 4. Larry Zysbsko 3. Fabulous Freebirds 2. Andre the giant 1. Hulk hogan
Excellent list but next time make a Top 20 list of best heel turns and don't forget to include; *1)* Barry Windham turning on Luger and joining the 4 Horsemen. *2)* Lex Luger becomes heel after winning the WCW World Heavyweight title and was managed by the (then) recently retired 'Harley Race'. This also had a long running legacy of continuity?, after Luger left WCW in 1992 to go to the WWF As Race would try to outdo Luger by managing his next protege in; Big Van Vader and again manage a World Champion multiple times with Vader up until 1993 when Vader lost to Ric Flair at Starrcade '93 And when Hulk Hogan entered WCW and so on. While Ric Flair made his epic journey into the WWF, the experiment in going with Lex Luger in WCW in '91 was interesting in a year when wrestling saw many change-ups to say the least. *3)* Sid Justice's heel turn (setup after the Royal Rumble '92 and executed at February's Saturday Night's Main Event) in the lead up to Wrestlemania 8 and match with Hulk Hogan and Hogan's semi retirement afterwards! *4)* Owen Hart against Bret Hart. A heel turn that subtly was built up at the 93 Survivor Series with the Hart Family Vs Shawn Michaels' knights (Michaels filled in for Jerry 'The King' Lawler who had legal troubles in Memphis at the time) with Owen being the only one eliminated from the team. the split and turn against his brother at the '94 Royal Rumble and incredible matches against Bret throughout 1994 at; Wrestlemania X, Cage match at Summerslam, match on WWF Wrestle Challenge/Superstars where he actually won the WWF Championship briefly. Add tot he fact Owen was put over at the King Of The Ring tournament in '94 and you have yourself a year where Owen Hart's heel turn ought to have made this list as well. ua-cam.com/video/RYNWq6jVh6Q/v-deo.html *5)* Jushin 'Thunder' Liger, although brief, Liger's heel turn was super epic and just plainly needs to be on any list like this period! ua-cam.com/video/TJIzfghH5AI/v-deo.html
Not only was Windham turning on Luger and joining the Horsemen one of my favorite heel turns ever, but then when Luger turned heel in 1991 in the match for the vacant WCW title, who was his opponent? That's right, it was Windham!
The Hogan heel turn gave me chills watching it. It's honestly a tie between that heel turn and his face turn at Wrestlemania x8 as my two greatest matches of all time.
Yeah at the time I was able to watch Wrestling PPVs scrambled but able to hear them perfectly. So when I heard it I was like "holy SHIT that was NOT supposed to happen! Is this the last WCW PPV?" Oh to be 14 and clueless about Wrestling (well most of it anyways, I knew the shit was choreographed) again :(
*Barry Windham turning on Luger and joining the Horsemen?* And forming the greatest 4 Horsemen combo on record (they were all inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame no less?), yes its surprisingly missing or some odd reason!
Cactus Jack's pro-WCW/anti-hardcore heel turn in ECW should be considered one of wrestling's greatest turns. It told a great story, and was even psychologically intriguing.
Shawn putting Marty through the window was actually him shattering through to his iconic singles career...instead of leading the other rocker behind, he LITERALLY used him to breakthrough...to greatness.
+Harry the Piggy i've watched it worldwide for 18 years. rollins heel turn should have been on this list. NO ONE saw it coming just a day after beating evolution
When Scott Steiner turned on Rick to join the NWO was a big one for me. I loved the Steiner Brothers. Granted, Scott looked like a massive tool with that mullet, but I still remember that double axe-handle smash he dropped on Rick while he was completely vulnerable.
You missed CM Punk turning during his title run. Triple H's turn on Michaels in 2002. Jericho's turn on Michaels at Mania XIX was better than the one you chose. Matt Hardy's turn on Jeff when he smacked him over the head with a chair and cost him the title. Taker's turn to become Big Devil Red Evil. Austin's turn on the Rock and siding with McMahon. Rock's turn to side with McMahon (I mean how could you miss that one. He had a PPV named after him because of it!) Rock's Hollywood turn in 2003 as well. You had too much Hogan on the list btw.
Much smaller scale, but I will forever love CM Punk's heel turn in Ring of Honor that started the first Summer of Punk in 2005, when he won the ROH title on his supposed final night in the company before going to WWE only to turn on the fans in his post-match promo, bashing all the guys who left ROH for TNA and that without him the company wouldn't even exist anymore. He stayed with ROH throughout the summer, doing stuff like signing his WWE contract on top of the ROH belt to further stick it to the fans and threatened every night to walk out of the company with the belt. So basically what they repeated in 2011. And each night he would face up and coming stars, turning them into instant top babyfaces simply for trying to get the title off of him before he could leave and always he would cheat his way to victory causing the fans to despair, before he was finally beaten in a 4-way elimination match.
Does anyone have a UA-cam link to the background music in this video? It reminds me very much about the first year of Broken Matt Hardy and the first ever Final deletion match.
+YourFellowSimmer sort of because he went from being part of The Shield to WWE Champion in one year.but it never made any sense. The Shield beat Evolution two PPVs in a row and all of the sudden Rollins turns on them the next night?it would've made sense if they lost, but you cant change the past
+TeamForwood Yea they screwed it up. Remember there were rumors that they were suppose to break up long before that. They had all those backstage moments where there was tension between them but nothing ever came of it. I can't remember exactly but I think the injury bug was heavy around this time so they had no choice but to pull the trigger on him without any buildup
Just been in a coma, only woke up last night. apparently I was informed michael jackson died, I was really upset, at least I can always rely on the WWF and my favourite wrestlers Eddie & Benoit....
Marty Jannetty trying to escape through the barber shop window, gotta be the greatest act of cowardice in wrestling of all time right?! LMAO. R.I.P. Bobby Heenan and thank you for all those great and legendary commentary moments.
Chistian's heel turn during his feud with Orton over the title in 2011 is very underrated in my opinion. Even edge turned against Christian at one point for his former Rated RKO partner! Also, can you make a top ten baby face turns in wrestling? It maybe easier or stupider but it has me interested enough for a view.
Supposedly Andre was meant to be ripping off Hogan's gold cross he used to wear, which would have been way more upsetting than ripping a shirt Hogan himself was likely going to rip in half later. But the shirt kind of fuddled things and the cross was less obvious.
You didn't include Sid jumping off the top rope causing the injury? That was the greatest heel turn
lol. I see what you did there
Holy fuck haha
Uhh the scarring memories
naeee im dead 😂😂😂😂
+JohnACorp782 how lol
Hulk Hogan is like in 50% of wrestling history. Vince must be sleepless "how am I gonna erase this guy from history"
Krillep who the hell is hulk Hogan
TheDrunk Waffler too late to make the joke. His name has been back to WWE for months.
Krillep , Hogan is 50% of wwe history, not wrestling history. Hogan is a pimple on wrestling history's ass. He's nothing more than a cartoon character that worked the same match for 30 years. He's the king of the Vince McMahon saturday morning cartoon show, nothing more.
Bill Frederick Precisely correct. 💯
Hogan is the reason we watch wrestling on mainstream TV. Hate or love this man, but he's the Optimus Prime of the Autobots!
Best Heel Turns huh? How about Chris Benoit. That one was a real killer.
He killed it with his performance that weekend...
You can even say he had murderous intentions.
I barely woke up and that's the most savage shit I'll read all day I bet
Jesus
That was just suicidal for him to do that frog splash that night.
I know it is recent, but "Plan B" was pretty awesome.
HHH going heel on HBK during their DX reunion in 2002 was pretty crazy.
" YOU DAMN RIGHT IT WAS ME SHAWN!!!! "
Hulk hogans heel turn in 96 was incredible. Was such a good time in wrestling. Nwo4life
+Be The Best In full on agreement!

What Culture did a Heel Turn.
CM Punk turns heel during his record WWE Championship reign?
EXACTLY
+ShengJun101 was he even that much of a face? i mean he was more like the "anti-hero" type...
+ShengJun101 How was that a good heel turn, let alone one of the best?
stone cold, the rock's heel turns are not included either.
He was still getting cheered.

+Kai Lawrence pretty good acually
You need more upvotes
Good but kinda of stupid
And by stupid, I mean not make it sense at all
a great heel turn would be when john cena gets his shovel and buries reigns
Burying reigns is automatically a face turn to some fans lol
John Dessa all*
Daniel The Great One I would love that!
Thats a face turn then LMAO
Unfortunately, Cena lost his "Golden Shovel"
I can't believe you left out the greatest Heel turn of all time. Vince McMahons. no, Cena's heel turn after Wrestlemania a couple years ago is better than all of these
....
you mean 2006?
+Michael Mitchell Nono, he's right. THAT Heel turn was awesome.
CENA HAD A HEEL TURN!?!?!??!??, WHAT WILL THE KIDS THINK WHEN THEY FIND OUT
The sarcasm rages on. I love it :-D
8:57 That sign! XD
CM Punk's 2009 heel turn against Jeff Hardy is my personal favorite. It was such a slow dissension into "darkness" and every step of it made so much sense. I still remember how Punk snapped and beat the shit out of Jeff, and how he looked damn near euphoric afterwards.
+Crossy Agreed! I loved that feud and Punks heel turn.
+Crossy
My top 3 snubs from this video would be that, Matt Hardy's turn on Jeff, and Mark Henry's "retirement" speech, that one almost made me cry before he turned. Speechless.
Love both of those heel turns as well!
How about Eddie Guerroro turning on Rey?
Micheal Smith nope
Not even close..

I loved the feud between Bret and Steve Austin.
RAYV3N Hell ya man, it was up there with great feuds like Austin vs Vince (the BEST feud ever to this day still, in my humble opinion).
Damn Yes. Best wrestling out of ring but especially, in ring ever. Austin was always a solid technical worker and good brawler. Excellent list but next time make a Top 20 list of best heel turns and don't forget to include;
*1)* Barry Windham turning on Luger and joining the 4 Horsemen.

*5)* Jushin 'Thunder' Liger, although brief, Liger's heel turn was super epic and just plainly needs to be on any list like this period!

MGSBigBoss77 ...I agree, Windham turning on Luger was a great heel turn and should be on the list
MGSBigBoss77 I agree totally. I was young and this was way before the internet. I didn’t see this coming at all. Windham was so underrated back then.
Greg H chill the FUCK out
Not only was Windham turning on Luger and joining the Horsemen one of my favorite heel turns ever, but then when Luger turned heel in 1991 in the match for the vacant WCW title, who was his opponent? That's right, it was Windham!
Sid Justice had one hell of a heel turn alright.

Barry Windham turning on Luger and joining the Horsemen?
You know your wrestling. I was thinking the same thing. Also, Ole Anderson turning on Dusty Rhodes in 1980 was historic.
Anderson was the gold standard. WTBS on Saturday afternoon, Gordon Solie calling the action, wrestling was fun to watch.
*Barry Windham turning on Luger and joining the Horsemen?*
And forming the greatest 4 Horsemen combo on record (they were all inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame no less?), yes its surprisingly missing or some odd reason!
That turn was amazing. It made me a full fledged Horsemen fan.
I laughed my ass of when he said a brunahallic
holy shit, cage matches used to use solid metal bar cages? all of the ouch.
Gary Yep, the good ole days man! The pussy ass PG piss ant "wrestlers" of today couldn't handle an OG Cage Match.
Justin Yatsko The Attitude Era guys couldn’t either so they stopped using it in 99.
Cactus Jack's pro-WCW/anti-hardcore heel turn in ECW should be considered one of wrestling's greatest turns. It told a great story, and was even psychologically intriguing.
+Captain Bud Sturguess yea that was some awesome shit not giving the fans what they wanted anymore.
"A giant man with a giant heart they said, but partly that's what killed him"
ooph no chill Adam
It's clear a lot of effort go into these videos. They're brilliant, keep them coming.
Shawn putting Marty through the window was actually him shattering through to his iconic singles career...instead of leading the other rocker behind, he LITERALLY used him to breakthrough...to greatness.
Shawn Michaels super kicking Hulk Hogan was EPIC!!!!!!!
I personally feel that Seth Rollins should be on this list
True. I'm still heart broken about it...
+DylFTWynne you need to watch wrestlnig for more than 5 minutes
+Harry the Piggy i've watched it worldwide for 18 years. rollins heel turn should have been on this list. NO ONE saw it coming just a day after beating evolution
I'm looking forward to him being a face I must say
Josh Rollins no one but you noticed it. If you tried to pay any attention to what was going on, you might've noticed something.
Jeff Hardy's heel turn in 2010 was pretty great
Jeff Hardy was a heel?
@@btonyh5878 2010 for TNA. It was unexpected as hell. He was hated for the right reasons afterwards
Oh Yeah...the whole anti christ deal
The intro made me laugh pretty good. Thanks for that.
Hahaha great Adam! I'm glad you made it clear that YOU run WhatCulture! I like it more when you run the show:D
fact: at 7:19 that little girl is now one of the principal owners of WWE
Is that Stephanie? ?
yup
logan kerr OMG
She showed that picture on an episode of RAW
Thrasher_ 92 technically an episode of the "Stone Cold Podcast" but ur right
When Scott Steiner turned on Rick to join the NWO was a big one for me. I loved the Steiner Brothers. Granted, Scott looked like a massive tool with that mullet, but I still remember that double axe-handle smash he dropped on Rick while he was completely vulnerable.
And then Scotty became Superstar Billy Graham.

Heel Turns can do amazing things....
Stephanie McMahon turning on Vince & taking over the company with Triple H was soooo EPIC!
"Jesus turns heel by stabbing Santa" This had me spraying cheerio/milk shrapnel all over my monitor. That shit is fn funny.
cm punk clothes line on the rock
ASMF C
Hey could you tell me which music was playing in the background
0:28 I love this Adam we need more whatculture
An older one, but I always loved the Fabulous Rougeau's heel turn because it was executed so perfectly and gradually.
whats the background theme ?
Bradshaw turning into "JBL" in 2004 should be on the list!
What's the background music?
I thoroughly enjoy this channel!
"A team can have all the chemistry in the world but there comes a time where the most charismatic of the two must seize the spotlight" so true
Austin's heel turn against the Rock at Wrestlemania 17?!?!?!
What
what's the song that's playing?
Generic crap.
Man, your deadpan always gets me!
Does anyone have a UA-cam link to the background music in this video?
It reminds me very much about the first year of Broken Matt Hardy and the first ever Final deletion match.
Seth Rollins has the best heel turn in my opinion.
agree
+YourFellowSimmer yeah you dont know shit about wrestling then..
+YourFellowSimmer sort of because he went from being part of The Shield to WWE Champion in one year.but it never made any sense. The Shield beat Evolution two PPVs in a row and all of the sudden Rollins turns on them the next night?it would've made sense if they lost, but you cant change the past
+YourFellowSimmer typical pg fan.
You guys hate the rock don't u? Rock has more talent in his pinky than hogan has displayed in his entire career.
Hogans Heel Turn was good, but the heel turn of Adam Blampied was clearly better ;)
this was one of the best videos of what culture for me
That Bobby Heenan line about Marty trying to escape through the glass window is probably the best ever.
Before I even watch i know Shawn Michaels is on here now that was a performer
Just been in a coma, only woke up last night.
apparently I was informed michael jackson died, I was really upset, at least I can always rely on the WWF and my favourite wrestlers Eddie & Benoit....
whats the song in the background?
The background music is real cool... gets you more into the video
It only now hit me how amazing the WhatCulture video editors are.....
Peter Mavia turning on Bob Backlund (It was huge !!)
Q: No1 Heel Turn ?
Ans : Sitll waiting for John Cena turning heel .
No Eddie Guerrero heel turn from 05? This is madness!
But the shirt kind of fuddled things and the cross was less obvious.
if your watching this in 2019 you would say finn balor should be on this list
Adam Blampied better be #1
I agree I didn't see it coming did u
I don't think x-pac heat counts.
Neville's heel turn should be up there for another video on this. It was brilliant.
These top 10 videos are awesome.
OK it's official, Adam Blampied is a heel.
Hes been heel for ages
The paccitti trolling of the fans is getting him crazy amounts of heat
You love it
3:00 Looks like Chris Jericho beating a woman lol.
SigmaTV that was shawns wife Rebecca
Daniel 316 Really? thought that was Michaels...
SigmaTV Does that make Michaels Girlish, or his wife manish??
It IS a woman. It's HBK's wife.
unique name here paradox
BX? Pacitti Club? Bitch please, i'm CWO. Comment World Order!!
The invasion all over again lol
+Arthur Sepeda CWO! CWO!
Ste00I CWO 4LIFE
One honorable mention is R-Truth's heel turn in 2011. The execution could not be anymore superb. That cigarette was a really nice touch
here after Rock became the Final Boss. Dwayne has mastered the heel turn
