An amazing ride on the restarted service post second wave covid lockdown. This part covers the 27 km section from Mettupalayam (MTP) to Coonoor (ONR) station, the midway and the major town enroute Ooty (UAM). The ride upto ONR is powered by the X-class steam locomotives. This is the only route wherein steam locomotives are regularly used! Although the darjeeling railway also uses steam locos, it's mostly for joy rides for short distances. The steam locomotives give NMR a distinct charm, taking scores of passengers to Coonoor and Udhagamandalam, crossing 45.8 kilometres (28 mi), 108 curves, 16 tunnels and 250 bridges.

Kallar Railway Station is the Last Border of Coimbatore District, Infact Coimbatore District will be only district in future to have both Broad & Meter Gauge, We should get Complete Glass Vistadome Coaches sooner for both Mettupalayam To Udagamandalam & Coonoor To Udagamandalam
JUST TOTALLY LOVE THE NILGIRIS RAILWAYS...ESPECIALLY THE OLD ENGINES & OLD CARRIAGES... THE MODERN CARRIAGES SPOIL THE EXPERIENCE...IF THE RAILWAYS DO NOT PLAN TO USE THE OLD CARRIAGES ON THE LINE IN THE FUTURE, THEY CAN AT LEAST MAKE THEM INTO RESTAURANTS ON THE TRACKS AT OOTY & COONOOR RAILWAY STATIONS...THIS INCOME CAN ALSO BE USED FOR THE UPKEEP OF THE OLD ENGINES AND THE NILGIRIS RAILWAY SYSTEM AS A WHOLE...

Mettupalayam to coonoor is best for scenic beauty. Both the steam locomotive and diesel locomotive have a charm of their own... You can experience both in a journey upto Ooty from Mettupalayam!

In the trip covered, the locomotive is behind the train pushing it up. Why is the normal pulling not done here. Is this because of climbing gradients? The rack railway starts at Kallar and where does it end? Everyone is happy to see your excellent video skills. Keep up your show, bro. 🤩💖🤝
The train is pushed in order to avoid pressure to the couplers. The rack rails start at kallar and end at coonoor. Thanks for your views 😀
@@GKKrishna I think there should be a revamp of the carriages, that have strong couplers. Safety is paramount, especially when tourism is the case. New Design, and washroom cubicles also need to be provided. We should develop new ideas, and make it easier and safer for everyone involved.

You can book via irctc/rail connect/any authorised ticket booking app. Daily train from ooty to Mettupalayam leave at 2 pm and reaches mtp 5:30 pm
