I suspect it's a side effect of most people seeing the ocean from *land* as serene, and even when people generally go swimming it's in relatively shallow coastal waters or lakes, so centuries of cultural inertia creates the idea of serenity - we associate it with pretty blue colours, relaxation, and enjoying the water for fun. If you had a species of underwater aliens or mermaids or something who spent their entire lives in the open ocean underwater they'd probably have very different cultural attitudes around it.

@@emilyharpistoh, I'm honored you would even consider it, I never expected you to see that 😅 To be honest though I'm not sure my ideas is quite concrete or designed enough to move foreward yet and besides that I lack funds to pay others so any profit would be what we split from the game itself So far all I have is the general concept that I want it to be a hot air balloon exploration game with a dream-like logic and watercolor aesthetic. For those curious about the game though, You'll drift through the cosmic sky going island to island where the islands are like neverland from Peter pan. Each star island is like it's own self contained little world, often an ecosystem that grew on the back of some immense space creature like a cosmic turtle and other similar myths about island animals like the aspidochalone I was thinking the main character might be sinbad or some other mythic character, but more likely the main character will be customizable and you drift through the cosmos meeting the various mythic characters who each offer some perspective on life, stories, how fiction influences reality, and how to live your own story to the fullest. I was also conceptualizing a story that was a meta-narrative about Joseph Campbell's hero's journey where each island represents a literary analysis on many fictional and literary classics and how stories function, which would work in conjunction with the "write your own story" motif. I'm open to any name ideas for the game, I don't have any ideas

To be fair, EWI has a much lower skill floor because you don't need good technique to get a good sound out of it since it's electronic. You still need to learn fingerings and stuff of course, but right out of the box you have an advantage on it versus most other instruments
Digital sax's don't have the need for proper embouchure. It makes it similar to playing a melodica instead of a sax. Of course, it still has sax fingerings but she figured out! Good job on her.
This game is actually so peaceful. I played it. It takes maybe an hour for me. It’s so amazing it’s so gorgeous. Oh my God and the music is just so calming❤
One of the few "just walk around and explore" games I've actually finished without dying of boredom lol. Nothing against the walking sim genre (I know you swim here but still), it just doesn't usually hold my interest. ABZU is one and What Remains of Edith Finch is another, and I think those might be the only 2 I actually finished cause I was actually enjoying it, not just going for trophies.
I was eating cheesecake with strawberry puree when I happen to scroll upon this video and the music combined with how good this tasted was just the most perfect combination and I think I momentarily experienced true peace and bliss and harmony with the universe

I'm sorry but could I get like an hour long version of this. The beautiful sounds just rippled through my headphones and sent shivers down my spine in the best way possible. I can vividly imagine a beautiful ocean reef with fish and whales. I absolutely adore the composition you have created.
. Both Journey and Abzu are incredible, have incredible soundtracks, and can be finished in a couple of hours. If you are looking for a cozy night in, alone or with a friend, its worth your while. :) Also, I love how well you demonstrate the sounds a pedal can make.
It’s relaxing and incredibly nerve wracking as someone with a fear of oceans. But without that, I can tell it’s peaceful, especially certain areas that are just completely enjoyable to stay in like the reefs. Though I could definitely replay it now knowing about the shark

I was exposed to Abzu before it’s full release, but very close to it. Definitely a finished version. Abzu is one of the first video games I was exposed too, and I’m pretty sure it changed me as a person. My mother knew the father of someone who worked on the game; either the lead artist or composer well, and because of it, we got the art book for another one of his games, journey, for absolutely free. I still haven’t played journey, as we got the book when I was quite young. 9 or 10, I believe. This video has inspired me to go buy journey and play it, thanks.
