What a master of an extremely difficult instrument. The inventor of the instrument would be very proud to see it reach it's full potential.
Leon Theremin would definitely be amazed.
It's not a difficult melody . All of the thereminists I know in person play it, none of them being virtuosos.
@@tubedev lol is it like playing Wonderwall if u own a guitar.
@@tubedev There is always a Sheldon Cooper that needlessly needs to point something out to diminish something otherwise great.🤪
@@IMaPeecock there's always a hippie trying to overimpose positivity against discussion
A most human voice like sound, and its electronic. I love it! thank you Katica for this brilliant performance.
The opera singer who sang the original was extremely talented.
This is the greatest thing ever!!!
As a Star Trek fan and a new theremin owner I can die now
Please live and conduct thy Theremin. (how well hast thee tamed thine?)
@@WMMFNews I just got mine! lots of practice awaits :)
Now you’re making me want one too 🤩
Can you play it?
I’ve wanted one for a while…though I can barely get a good sequence going with the theramin mode of my Hydrasynth touch bar. How did the first few weeks go for you?
Amazing performance on the theremin, it’s difficult and the way she performs is extremely precise
Yes. Phrasing as if someone is singing, cutoffs as well .
She waves her hands and music comes out... magic!
“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”

@@charlielynes Arther C Clarke AND Jean-Luc Picard lol
Always bang on pitch with nothing to guide her other than her proprioceptive sense. Truly amazing.
Her Interoceptive responses are most impressive, I can assure you.
A flawlessly logical performance.
Haha this is the best comment to see at first glance for a classical start trek performance!
Agreed.
Concurred.

Star Trek (especially the movies) was such a great thing when I was a kid. I do love hearing this every once in a while.
His is the perfect instrument for the Star Trek tune. Well done!
Imagine inventing this thing and having to show it to stalin
I love this so much. It’s so beautifully alien and so enchanting, mesmerizingly charming!!!!!
agreed!! the theremin’s unique sound fits the Star Trek theme wonderfully
What fun! I have so many fond memories around that piece, and it has never sounded better!
Ah, I can't get enough of this performance. A classy woman who looks like she's enjoying doing what she loves. Bravo, Katica!! The orchestra too is amazing.
i have listened to this on repeat for the past ten hours help me/hj
Totally brilliant! What incredible talent on such a difficult instrument.
So awesome! Original Star Trek forever... And the use of the Theremin by
Katica Illényi
... Stellar... She has got to be one the greatest performers in the art of Theremin. I'm going to have a hard time getting that great drum beat out of my head. I've been a fan of this series since I was a little kid in the 80's... Thank you so much for creating and sharing this.
She never disappoints, she's my absolute favourite on the Theremin!
I find the human custom of accompanying stories with a sequence of unrelated sounds most peculiar captain.
Yup. Humans are weird. But, if they weren't, would they even be considered human?
,
Spock would thoroughly understand the logic and sytem of western music and scales and would never say the soznds are "unrelated". He might not enjoy music - I don't recall enough about the character - b6t he wouldn't depricate it for being random, unsystematic, illogical etc.
Spock totally loves music. Ever hear him play the Vulcan lyre???
Fascinating! 🖖 Live long and prosper. 🖖
Here a min, theremin, everywhere a min min
Literally thinking the same thing!
Badum tss
Lolol
Take my punnish vote of approval! That was great. 😂
Too funny...😂
That was the finest performance of a theremin I have even heard!
Gene Roddenberry so would have loved that!! She is awesome! So is the Theremin. ~Janet in Canada
Gene was the one who insisted on using a soprano rather than an Instrument in TOS S1.
@@dean2801yes because when someone tried to do this they couldn't do it and it didn't sound good
A fitting use for the instrument. Traveling among the stars. Beautiful piece!
Kedves Katica. 🙏😇🤩😍👍👏💚💙💜💗💓❤️💖💝🌸🌺🌹🙂🌲🍀
Thank you Katica😊.
Very beautiful work.
This raises wonderful memories. Great to see this theme played live, and IMO Katica is an absolute master of the Theremin...
God the nostalgia this music make me experience is overwhelming and this is done so welll
The best theremin performance I've seen and heard ever
Have you heard her play the theremin on the "Once Upon a Time in the West" wedding theme?
Unbelievable
I like her too, but do visit Clara Rockmore & her rendition of "The Swan".
She was obviously having a good time with this fun performance!!
Maravillosa interpretación!. BRAVO!!!❤🎉🎉🎉.
She made it sound human. Lovely performance.
Amo amo amo tu música y tus interpretaciones. Te mando admiración desde México 🇲🇽
Absolutely stunning performance from you Katicia you make the Theramin fit in perfectly thankyou for this upload please keep them coming.
I have seen maybe 50 of the best theremin players in the world Katica is the best…. By far!
Finally got my hands (figuratively speaking!) on one of these instruments at Phoenix's Musical Instrument Museum in 2017. Bravo to anyone who's able to play it well enough to get a recognizable tune out of it. The ideal instrument for Star Trek.
Always when I watch star trek I cry of Joy cause of the possibility of reaching this civilization love star trek !
This is so beautiful! I just can’t get over this.
Witam serdecznie !!! Uwielbiam słuchać muzyki w Pani wykonaniu .Pozdrawiam
and she is a violinist, singer, dancer on top of a theremin player❤❤❤❤
Fantastic performance!
That sounds excellent. Very much like a soprano voice - vibrato and all. Love the extras put in as well - such as r2d2 and the classical flying saucer sounds.
The best performer artist with the theremin, for sure!
the movement of hands made by a theremin player is so ASMR to me
I love the theremin, it's the only musical instrument that you don't touch when you play it.
LOVE me some Theremin!!! AMAZING talent!
Én Magyarul írom le, csodálatos művész vagy Katica. Szép napot .
ilona smigura köszönöm! 😊
On a special Star Trek TV special many years ago I saw William Shatner perform on stage with an opera singer and an orchestra and they did the BEST cover of the original theme song I have ever heard. It was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately I've never been able to find it here on UA-cam. Anyone know where it happened (25th anniversary, 30th, etc)?
By the way, the guy who created the theramin also made spying devices for the KGB back in the day.
What did he do, sing?
@@luludouglas Leon Theremin was a Russian electronic engineer (and, obviously, musician).
That is extremely impressive!
Thank you!
Hi beautiful is your music and song thank you very very much 🎼🎶🎵👋🌻
Excellent 60s version! 😳👍
Thanks for posting this, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Absolutely amazing, loved it.
This is amazing. Can't wait to hear more from this artist and her 'alien' instrument.
'
You don't have to wait: there's a lot on UA-cam - try Barcarolle, Only You, La Vie En Rose, Moonlight Serenade, The Swan, O Mio Babbino Caro, Smile (with vocal too!), Ave Maria (both of them), Silent Night … and those are just the Theremin; violin, tap dance, and even vocal await you.
Dedicated to Gene,Spock,Bones, Scotty, this cover of Star Trek we dedicate to you.
Wow wow wow! This is singing me into tears!
beautiful and the instrument is nice too.
Sheldon would be absolutely going crazy! Very cool!
Wahnsinn! Unglaubliche Leistung. Danke.

That woman is a Master craftsman on the most unusual musical instrument ever conceived!!
I was skeptical but now....I Believe!
I was a month shy of my 16th birthday when Star Trek premiered, and in all these decades never once wondered about the strange sound of the melody line in the theme music. More than half a century later I finally discover its source.🤣
It's terrific performance. Actually the original Star Trek theme featured a wordless human voice - and later this was replaced by an electric violin. It works really well on Theremin, though.
Beam me up, Scotty!
Awesome performance!
Fascinating...why am I raising one eyebrow?
"I am a doctor Jim, not a Theremin!"
Spock: "It is music but not as you know it, Jim"

Beautiful. Star Trek forever.
Absolutely loved this
This is such a perfect instrument for this music!
I just ordered a Moog Theremini.....should have it in a few days. Dont ask me how old I am.....but I was in Jr High when Star Trek came out.
I've had an Etherwave Standard like she's playing for 24 years...still can't play a song on it. It's really hard!
She, as well as the others were absolutely awesome!🖖🏻
Wow! The producer of the next "Star Trek" movie should use this!
It's so beautiull this sound....!!
You can never get to much theremin !
yes i agree
Fascinante! 🖖🏼💕
Very well done, and her outfit wouldn't have looked out of place on the Enterprise.
Fantastic!
Aside from the music, her earrings are G L A M
This is such an underrated Star Trek theme.
By whom? [Unless you were joking; I often don't "get" jokes 🙂.] Most trekkies I know think the original is best - certainly when it comes to the tune.
@@G6JPG Yeah I've definitely preferred this of all the themes. I just remember hearing it gets a bad rep.

Not nearly as bad as what Leonard has to put up with though.

Génial 😊😮
Fascinating!!!!!!
OHH my f* klingon! :O I love it! Live long and prosper my lady!
She should do the theme from the British ITV series Midsomer Murders - it's played on the theremin and has a spooky sound
I think they have a lady who does it for the series, including incidental pieces when required.
😮wow - I have never heard this played so well before
