Lydian Kavina is a thereminist of the highest order. This is not only a sublime introduction to the instrument, but a real world example of it's practical application. This is a serious question as I work with handicapped musicians.( I am visually impaired) ; Can a person with one arm play this instrument. How to keep volume down while using hand to make the music?
@@squatchykrislapuma4611 You can use your knee. If you get a stool or chair high enough, or have the theremini on a short surface close to your leg, you can lift your knee to quiet the sound by having the volume antenna close to you.

This is the best demo and tutorial I have seen yet for a digital theremin. _I was disappointed though,_ when I saw her Boss RC-300 box. The use of external effects, although good for extending possibilities, dilutes the value of this video's demonstrating what the Moog Theremini can do by itself. One cannot tell what part of the sound is coming natively from theremin, and what part is created by the effects pedal. Please, Lydia, do a dry theremin demo video, to help the viewer evaluate the theremin itself.
That would explain why mine sounds nothing like this at all. Don't beleive the theremini sound like that on its own, it does not. In fact, far from that.
@@dreammkeeper2157 Hi, I replied to your other question. I am on the fence with this device. The only reason that I got the Theramini is that I was not sure I would like it enough to pay the high price the etherwave and required amplifier would cost. Lets say it's very difficult to play this instrument, even with the pitch correction. I am thinking of probably reselling it because the sound is not exactly like the real thing. But I am glad that I got the Theramini because I don't think I have a good enough hearing for music to be able to play that type of instrument. I find it more challenging and less fun that I first thought it would be.
The RC-300 seems to be used only as a looper to stack multiple layers of her own playing. All sounds you hear are still straight from the Theremini. The Theremini also has it's own built-in delay effect, I hope you don't consider it cheating? Anyway what really makes this demo "unrealistic" is not the sounds but just the incredible virtuosity of the player.
