  • Thereminist Lydia Kavina, first taught by Léon Theremin himself, gives us great tips and tricks for playing the wonderful new Moog Theremini. If you're just getting started with the Theremini, make sure to check it out! Want more info? See below!
The Moog Theremini is an affordable modern re-imagination of the classic Theremin, which anyone can learn to play - it has:
    • User friendly pitch assist correction with selectable scales and root note, so you can't play a wrong note! You can also turn this off for classical theremin glissando sounds, or just dial it back for partial correction as you improve your technique.
    • 32 different sounds on-board, covering a range of basses, lead sounds, classical theremin tones and much more.
    • Adjustable stereo ping-pong delay built right in, for wonderful ethereal sounds right out of the box!
    • Built in tuner gives live visual feedback of currently playing note, showing how close you are to hitting the note to help learn pitch and scales.
    • Built in speaker for instant playback anywhere.
    • Headphone output (which mutes the speaker) for practising!
    • Stereo 1/4" audio outputs to connect Theremini to audio interfaces, looping pedals, stereo systems, multitrack recorders or anything you like!
    • Single Pitch CV output w/ selectable range, so you can connect it to analogue synthesizers and use the Theremini as a wild CV modulation source.
    • 21 user selectable scales and user-adjustable root note selection (including chromatic)
    • User selectable note range: choose the highest note and lowest note (stored per preset), so it can be set up as you prefer
    • Removable pitch antenna - built in storage compartment on bottom-side for easy storage and transportation (carry bag sold separately)
    • Built in 3/8” Mic stand and Camera stand adaptor.
    • High quality rubberised feet so it can be placed on a table.
The Theremini is now available, and is around £249 in the UK.
Buy your Moog Theremini from a UK dealer here: sourcedistribution.co.uk/deale...

Lydian Kavina is a thereminist of the highest order. This is not only a sublime introduction to the instrument, but a real world example of it's practical application. You have a better chance of booking lunch with Donald Trump before finding, not only a skilled thereminist, but one that can explain advamced technique understandably. Bob Moog intended for it to be a teaching tool. Only fitting that it be taught so eloquently. Now I understand why it's praised so highly in the industry, and not just as an icon synth with cool sound effects. Thank you, Lydia, for allowing us to finally grasp the true musicality of this instrument without distracting us with technical marvel. And THEN, ...blowing our minds with technical marvel. lol You were talking right to me (and others). Brava! Hear, hear! Encore! My Theremini arrived today. ;-)

I had to look up when this comment was made, youtube says six years ago, which would've been 2016. Strange to think that at the time, Donald Trump was someone people mostly thought of as being hard to book lunch with, if we thought about him at all.

This is the best demo and tutorial I have seen yet for a digital theremin. _I was disappointed though,_ when I saw her Boss RC-300 box. The use of external effects, although good for extending possibilities, dilutes the value of this video's demonstrating what the Moog Theremini can do by itself. One cannot tell what part of the sound is coming natively from theremin, and what part is created by the effects pedal.
Please, Lydia, do a dry theremin demo video, to help the viewer evaluate the theremin itself.

That would explain why mine sounds nothing like this at all. Don't beleive the theremini sound like that on its own, it does not. In fact, far from that.

Hey are you happy with your theramini? I'm debating this or saving for the etherwave moog

@@dreammkeeper2157 Hi, I replied to your other question. I am on the fence with this device. The only reason that I got the Theramini is that I was not sure I would like it enough to pay the high price the etherwave and required amplifier would cost. Lets say it's very difficult to play this instrument, even with the pitch correction. I am thinking of probably reselling it because the sound is not exactly like the real thing. But I am glad that I got the Theramini because I don't think I have a good enough hearing for music to be able to play that type of instrument. I find it more challenging and less fun that I first thought it would be.

The RC-300 seems to be used only as a looper to stack multiple layers of her own playing. All sounds you hear are still straight from the Theremini. The Theremini also has it's own built-in delay effect, I hope you don't consider it cheating? Anyway what really makes this demo "unrealistic" is not the sounds but just the incredible virtuosity of the player.
