Tony...mate, You my friend are a bloody legend! Again and again you bring us these videos that are far more informative than any other on the internet and everyone I know loves your work! I don't know where you have all these facts hidden away, but every single one you have stated are 100% true and correct! Keep up these videos, I've been sharing your channel in all other bike sites I go to as people have to see this brilliant work you do for the motocross industry. Thanks for your hard work putting these together! Cheerz 🍺🍻 Frank 🇦🇺

Tony, any idea if there will be a 'Ask Tony' button up soon where people can just press a button and ask any puzzler questions regarding dirtbikes of the past?
@@TheMotocrossVault Hi Tony, no probs, the work you do is awesome. Tony can you provide email address so can contact you directly with some info that will bring music to your ears...
I had a 2007 and it was the worst handling bike I've ever owned. Zero confidence in the front wheel, it just pushed. It was truly awful. I'm back on an RM now and what a difference. Thank you for the high quality content..
My coworker decided to race arenacross with me last year. It was his first race. I ride an ‘05 yz125, and he had an ‘02 kx250. He broke his collarbone on the last lap of the main, and I had to take his bike to my house since he went to the hospital. Couldn’t believe how heavy the thing was. Had to move it around a lot cause it was in the way, and he wouldn’t come get it so it stayed here for several months.
I used to have a 1997 kx 250. It was probably my favorite bike I've ever owned. Granted it wasn't stock. It had 2014 kx450 forks and an eric gore 300 kit. It did everything I could ever ask for. I currently own a 2001 yz250, it has more power and turns better than the kx did. It just dosent make me feel like a hero like the kx did lol.
Why didn't you start with the 1990 KX? At the time they seemed like space ships in comparison to the competition! In short the 2001 KX was a 1994 with a newer fatter frumpy chassis 😊
Hey I'm 2nd to comment! I remember asking you if you were going to do a video on a 2001 KX250 whenever I was about to purchase my uncle's KX250 I found out though it's actually a 2003 I'm not real sure whether or not my uncle forgot it was a 2001 or who he bought it from told him that either way that's what I thought it was but it wasn't anyways good to see you did this video getting ready to watch it always great content sir
Dude you making good work man! Its very difficult to know anything of older bikes.. this bike i always been interrested in cuz of the chassi and its a kawa.. i got a kx250 91 and 3 other bikes.. but the older i get the older bikes starts to interrest me.. years between 1979-86 .. wish i had 500cc of every brand that between those years.
First of all I have to say I love your channel. If you had the choice between a 2000-2002 YZ250 and a 2000-2002 KX250, which one would you prefer and why?
Do you know where I can find an overview with the differences between the 1999 and 2000 KX250? They look identical to me. Is the motor identical or did they modify it?
I love your channel and videos. For an obscurity video, i'd love it if you did a review on the 1986 KTM 80. I was alway's been intrigued by that and had never seen one in real life.
Hi, you talk about the super durable paint of the expansion chamber. Any further info about it? I'm restoring my 2000 KX250 into OEM condition and want to find a paint that matches this OEM paint. Unfortunately the exhaust pipe was discontinued by Kawasaki.
It used to be that way but Yamaha petitioned the AMA in the early eighties to eliminate the works bikes in a effort to save money and better compete with Honda’s exorbitant budget. In 1986 the AMA passed the Production Rule and effectively ended the works bike era in the US
Kawasaki toned these bikes down after 98' my friend had a 99 and another had a 2001, I outweighed those guys by 40 lbs , we dragged these bikes repeatedly different riders etc that 98 was 2 bike lengths every time no matter whom was riding, and seat of the pants felt like a big horsepower advantage....it just hit like babe ruth in the middle the other two were smooth.
Great review. I find myself missing these 2 stroke screamers more and more as the years go by. We never knew how good we had it back then!!
Awesome video mate. I loved my 2001 kx250. Still my favourite bike.
Loved mine too
This is such a great channel. How neat? I love the old 2 strokes. I lost interest in MX when the world went 4 stroke. Thank u for keeping them alive!
Thank you!
2 strokes making a comeback

Tony..would love to see you cover worx bikes over the years.. Nobody is as thorough and informative as you sir
I have thought about taking that one on but it is a big one. Thank you for the support.
Yes! I had an 01, absolutely loved that bike!
Same, i rebuilt mine 2 years ago like brand new, always wide open, what a beast, i remember ricky 01 ama motocross era

You still ride?
I just got a 2002 KX250 and it is in brand new condition, a never ridden museum piece.
I'm looking at a 2001 barn find. Hardly used. What did you pay for that museum piece if you don't mind me asking?
@@neekopeeko9054 I paid $9800 for it.
@@AbcAbc-ox6pg I appreciate that info. That helps a lot. Thank you
I was researching this bike, ran across this, liked and subscribed. Thank you.
Awesome, thank you!
Nothing sexier than a KX. That bike is gorgeous.
Sounds like a good desert machine 👍 Be cool to see a review of the Dr 350-400 as well. Thanks for all the great vids Tony really enjoying these!
I bought a brand new Kawasaki 2000 KX 250 back in 2000. I raced this bike until I blew the crank bearing at less than 20 hours.
When buying bars to replace the OEM, what bend is most like the OEM bar bend? Carmichael?
How about open bike shootouts from 85 through 98? Thanks😁

History of the KX125 Bro!
I will get to it. Those take a TON of research and work to put together.
I allways have loved the looks of that bike.
Nice honest review, great job.
Thanks!

I would go with the YZ250. It was a much better bike in those years
Do you know where I can find an overview with the differences between the 1999 and 2000 KX250? They look identical to me. Is the motor identical or did they modify it?

I’m actually trying to do that but it’s tough to get a ton of information on it most of the magazines did not even bother to test it
Bit strange hearing this cause I always found the KX feel smaller than other bikes and you can flick em around more. what planet you living on fellow?
I thought my KX seemed too thin but was used to riding thumpers, especially XR 600’s.. I loved my KX back then.

I don’t know who made it but it’s sort of a gunmetal color it’s not flat black
I love my 01 but it really has a late 80s feel too it with the weight and the overall feel. My '01 CR250 feels like a modern bike compared to it.
Big perimeter frame. I've been rebuilding an 01 KX125.
2010 crf 450 and the 2008 rmz 450 would be nice please.
Im looking to trade my 06 crf250r for a 99 kx250. Good or bad trade??
Todd Dhoop ! Rite on ! You need to do where are they now show ? !
That might be a fun idea for some videos
Here we go👍👍thanks tony
My pleasure
Kawasaki made the perimeter frame Nott Honda 1990 and 99-02 was the best in my opinion for Kawasaki
can u do kx85s please
I ride a 92 kx250. I love all of the 2 strokes from the good old days.i am not a quad guy but a video on the Yamaha warrior would be great. Thanks
Why is there not a run what ya brung category of racing? Works bikes, one off’s, who wouldn’t want to see exotic bikes?
It used to be that way but Yamaha petitioned the AMA in the early eighties to eliminate the works bikes in a effort to save money and better compete with Honda’s exorbitant budget. In 1986 the AMA passed the Production Rule and effectively ended the works bike era in the US
How about some 85's or minis
I'm working on some more mini stuff

How do I disconnect the wiring harnesses clips pain in the ass
I am indignant about this bike. This bike was slow and I got hurt because of that fact a couple times. My 1995 would have stomped all over it.
Hiiii daddy how are you?
Good. Sleep well Bailey XOXOXO
