This song and Only A Moment Ago have to be dedicated to my brother Richard who lost his life at the age of 31. We had a hell life in the Clarendon Hill projects in Somerville, MA..Richard loved The Partridge Family music and brought them into our lives. Music was just about the only thing we had and still have in 2024. Thank you Richard, David and Shirley...Thank you...all.
This "Ole Fart" now 70 y/o graduated in 1971 about the time this song came out. I'm blessed to be a baby boomer growing up and going to school during the sensational 1960's!!!
Same here, I'm also 70 y/o, a 1971 graduate and remember hearing this song the first time in summer '71 after I graduated.
You sound like my dad lol
I'm 69 and agree with you totally!! 😊😊😊😊
Takes me back to a simpler time and a happier time.
Okay, call me sappy, but this song always brings back sweet memories of my sweet friend, Suzanne Crough (Condray). She left this world too soon and I certainly do miss her spirit and extraordinary intelligent conversations we had. The tears always roll, my special friend. You are definitely missed.
How lucky to have known her..
I'm so sorry for your loss 🌹
@@alicassidy8913 Thank you. She was a dear friend and mother to her two daughters and wife to her husband, Bill.
That sweet girl is gone?
@@trishabray9184 Yes from heart complications in 2015
Shirley Jones is a great singer in her own right.
70’s had the best music in history!!!👍
Just started listening to David’s music again. I loved him in the 70s - saw him in concert 3 times. How could I have forgotten him. So sadly missed. All these songs remind me of the best times in the 70s. I listen to his music all the time now. It’s a pity that his music is rarely played on radio stations.
We don’t need them. We’ll just listen whenever we want. This is wonderful pop music. Miss that show and those days.
Susan, I hear this song on MeTv Radio here in Chicago.
Just have to find the right station...they are out there.....keep looking
It was a long time ago now. His audience grew up. Kinda reminds me of the song Puff the Magic Dragon.
SiriusXM channels- 70’s Gold for example.
My sister introduced this to me. I've been happy with it ever since.
he was always an underrated talent, beautiful voice and production on all their music. a shame most of the people
from the era of GREAT MUSIC have been forgotten, listen to today;s music and compare, you will see substance over
style. RIP DAVID.
One of my favorite Partridge Family songs❤
RIP David Thanks for the memories...
I remember my late beloved cousin Mary who was also my godmother, bought me this album around 1971.I no longer have It, but I enjoyed It while It lasted. I still miss her.
Hugs!
Takes me back to a better, simpler time...
Absolutely ❤❤
Me too 😢
It really wasn't though.
From the very first note!
The times were not simple, but the music like this was ❤
2024 and I still live this song!! ❤
My favorite Partridge family song.
Nothing can cheer someone up like the voice of David Cassidy.
What a nice thing to say
Amen
Or his brother!
True that !
Except THIS song always makes me cry!!
Good Lord. Is this the greatest record ever made or what?
Listened to this cassette many times! Great Music!
Yes.
Glad you found this gem, I love it so much
Yes. Yes it is.
Shyman99- is this the best comment ever made?
Yes- yes it is.
And this is why I love you - whoever you are.
I got this album for my eight birthday.
I grew up with this music. Timelessly beautiful and poignant.
Thank you, same as me 👍❤️
True that !
1972 I was 6 and I remember me and my 8 year old brother sitting in the back of my Dads 61 Chevy pickup discovering and being enamored with harmonizing to this song. Ever since then I’ve liked this song and singing.
I had this album. I was 11 years. Now 62. I did see David in Vegas in 2012. I loved the Partridge Family. RIP David, Suzanne and Dave Madden. I loved and love the Partridge family music. Life is so short!
Me too - same age even. I love this record. Brings back so many good memories.
Life is short indeed...do what makes you happy, calm and peaceful 🙏🏼🕊️🙏🏼
Still listening in March 2019.
Still love this music. It doesn't ever get old. Miss the lovely David Cassidy.
Loved the music then and still love it at 72.
Kris Euribe me too!! Happy 70th Birthday yesterday To David Cassidy 🎂🎂🎼💕😍
Hey two years later and I’m playing Partridge family music. It’s damned good.
Kris Euribe You can get all 4 seasons for only 16 dollars on Amazon. David was on another TV show RUBY&THEROCKITS. Child actor ALEXA VEGA played his Daughter. To bad he had to do same thing like Partridge Family doing his own Concerts. ALEXA did good for herself she Married Carlos Pena a member of Boy Band BIG TIME RUSH. ALEXA signed with HALLMARK Channel to do those XMAS Movies. To bad went to lots of 70s concerts but never got to see David. Im proud of myself being IRISH & knowing my limits with Alcohol. It is True most IRISH like there Alcohol. Funny some people think our Freckles are Bug Bites. Doesnt help most IRISH songs are about Drinking. Crazy even today REDHEADS get Bullied.

Anniversary of John's passing.
David looked up to John!
Rest in Peace
Unbelievable that it's now 50 years ago that The Partridge Family started airing, and David Cassidy is gone. The Blessings of his music still live on. Its bittersweet.
Shannon Holden Long career 18-67.
It's so emotional to listen to his songs but in a nice way I listen to partridge family all the time x
I can't believe I'm this old.
@@yevettebamber4273 Me neither Yevette! Where have the years gone?
Such a more innocent time. Gosh memories ❤
Still listening in October 2020. Loved watching the Partridge Family on tv in the 1970's
Miss you so much David! RIP beautiful man.
Anjana Dey Clark Went to lots of 70s concerts but never got to see David. I heard David was good friends with Alice Cooper. If you didnt know David was on a TV Show called RUBY&THE ROCKITS. Alexa Vega played his Daughter. Alexa was a child actor played on those SPY KID Movies. Alexa Married Carlos Pena a member of boy band BIG TIME RUSH. Alexa also signed on with HALLMARK CHANNEL for those XMAS Movies
1971: David Cassidy asked for some more adult-sounding songs on the second album, and got them. This one came from producer Wes Farrell and veteran lyricist Gerry Goffin, once married to Carole King. It led off the LP, with David, Shirley Jones and the Ron Hicklin Singers, plus members of LA's famed Wrecking Crew and others handling the instrumentals. One of their best.
Shirley Jones said in an interview that her voice never was on the records.
@@lwh7301 There are pictures of her, in the studio, singing with Ron Hicklin and his vocal group.
@@rjmcallister1888 She said a bit of her voice was recorded and used in the show, but not on the records.
According to a doco I saw once, the band didn't actually exist as such (As stated by Shirley Jones) it was a T.V. show with David Cassidy, and occasionally, Shirley Jones singing and they were backed by professional singers.
Interesting information. Thank you. Yep the good ole Wrecking Crew.
I love this wonderful song. Takes me back to 1971. I want to go back so bad, and stay. I'll meet you halfway, David.
That young man voice. Oh it still makes me warm and fuzzy feeling! I LOVE you David. Rest in peace honey boy!
I loved this album…♥️
My very first album!! I'd gaze at David's picture on the cover and daydream. Like a 12 yr old girl does ...
@@suzanne4396 lol. Me too!
I inherited it. It is great, skips and all.
I loved it too. I think I wore it out!!
The album shows David's birthday which is April 12. He should have been 70 years old if he were still alive. In 2020 calendar his natal falls on Easter Sunday. Happy birth anniversary David. May you rest in peace.
I had David’s posters all over my bedroom walls!! ❤ I’m so sad he died the way he did. 😞🏴
Missing David and his angelic voice...
We love and miss you so much 💋
I grew up listening and watching David/Partridge Family and it brings back soo many happy memories. I miss David soo much! He will always have a special place in my heart! RIP David I love u!
I especially love the classy string arrangement, and the electric guitar work.
John, you have good taste. I love those String Arrangements too. The most overlooked, and underpaid person in the history of the Music industry is...THE MUSIC ARRANGER. they get NO royalties on record sells. Just a flat fee on the records/Music they work on. and MOST of the time they Music Contribution, make those records BIG HITS.
@@darrellmfume3513 Thank you, Darrell. I'm not a musician, but for years now I've listened to every part of a song. You're right...the string arrangement on the record enhances it so much. Thanks again.
I'm thinking Tommy Tedesco was the guitarist..
Nobody, but nobody had such a highly unique, beautiful voice. Bless the memories, forever.
Even though im nine I watch this show wish I was born in the 1970s XD
grant dietrich David was popular selling out Stadium concerts at age 18. 1 of his concerts a 14 year old girl died of a heart attack the excitment got to her. To bad he had a drinking problem. David didnt want to do Partridge Family he was aready doing his own concerts. Poor Susan she had a massive crush on David the whole 4 years. I thought it was because Susan was only 16. I heard David was a Millionare at age 23. They made 2 movies about David, 1 was about how crazy his fans were, they put David in rundown hotels to avoid his fans. If your interested you can buy all 4 seasons on Amazon for only 16 dollars.
My favorite song from the show I was in love with Susan Dey
Still listening in March 2020.
Still listening in March 2021❣️
2021 may.
And February 2022
And Feb 2024!
I'd much rather listen to this than most of what I hear on radio today.
Totally agree ❤
Some songs remain great forever. This is one of them.
It's a sweet song of innocence ❤
For those who don't know, David Cassidy's father was actor Jack Cassidy and his mother was Evelyn Ward. Shirley Jones was actually David's stepmom, who Jack Cassidy later married and had Shaun Cassidy. Sadly, in 1976 Jack Cassidy died when he fell asleep with a lit cigarette and the bed caught on fire.
There was a made for television movie about David and his father and David's experiences with becoming a teen idol/international star. I remember watching it in late 2000 when I was packing my house to move. Wish I'd taped it. It's probably on youtube or somewhere...
He was intoxicated and on the couch, not asleep in bed. He actually tried to escape but couldn't make it out

I grew up with love in my heart, i developed into a true romantic, all the love from my favorite songs made me a better lover
A great, great song that hardly anyone knows
1972 I was 6 years old and this song is part of an unforgettable memory when me and my 8 year old brother were in the bed of my Dad’s 61 Chevy pick up. We heard this song coming from the cab of the truck and my brother started sing it. We were enamored with this song because we discovered harmonizing that day and felt like we were onto something magical. This song reminds me of a time in my childhood When life was happy
Still listening september 2020 in El Salvador
Remember this song from my high school days, all the radio stations played this song, as well as all the other partridge family songs !
FANTASTIC LYRICS, can't believe this song has never been covered!!!
Still listening today, 2 April 2022 here in Pakenham, Victoria, Australia.
RIP, David Cassidy
Bell Records! By far the best studio record they produced along with Album. Davids voice was sped up to sound younger and there was MUCH more background vocals sang along with his lead.

He was my pin up was a teenager in the 70’s x can’t believe where all the Year’s have gone
Beautiful song. Handsome man. RIP David.
Rumor has it that he was hung like a horse, like his father. Apparently, his half brother Shaun got the same gene.
I never heard this song. Its very good! ❤
That's a great song..Doesn't matter who is singing it
For sure! Loved that man.
It was 7th or 9th grade, I’m not sure which, but it was the last great time in my life. I was in love with an adorable 8th grade boy. I was cute, young, thin, popular, a cheerleader-you know, the things vitally important to a Jr. High girl. Then the bottom fell out. My parents separated, then went through a very acrimonious divorce that unwittingly involved me. It was an extremely traumatic experience. The AM bubble gum pop music of the time became something of a salve for my wounds. This was one of those songs…silly as it might be, that can still make me feel just a bit better.
Nothing can cheer someome up like the voice of David Cassidy Take me back to a better, simpler time I loved him in the 70's so sadly missed. All these songs remind me of the best times in the 70''s.I listen to his music all the time now. HAPPY MEMORIES ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Can someone tell me why we DON"T realize til we hit our 50's how fast life truly flies by? I'm 57 and I just want to cry when I hear the old "Bubblegum Music". I fell hard for "Shaun Cassidy". In fact a long time ago (1988) , I gave birth to my daughter. My husband said he had a "Push Present" for me. Well 2 weeks later he took me to Burt Reynolds Dinner Theater. SHAUN CASSIDY was the star of the play and not only were our seats front row center, at the end my husband after tipping the waiter, handed him another $50 which I thought was odd. Suddenly I found myself standing in front of Shaun and I felt like an idiot!! I could NOT speak, the words were not coming, bear in mind he was only wearing tight orange silk pants and nothing else! He and my husband spent several mintutes talking and for the most part laughing at me. But I got even 8yrs later when I hooked things up for him to meet HIS Idol James Taylor. Sure as hell while I spoke to James my husband stood there in stunned silence LOL!!
Easily their best song! Rip sweet david.
La belleza de shirley jones y la calidad del desaparecido david cassidy tantos exitos despues como solista david tambien brillo su show en tv.no me lo perdia desde lima peru.
remember having to go to my parents bedroom to watch the partridge family on the portable black & white tv on friday night.
Love it
Lyrics by Gerry Goffin.
Shirley Jones's favorite of the singles. She thought it was the message of the Partridge Family.
Also took part in writing Pleasant Valley Sunday with Carole King for the Monkees.
David was beautiful
Aw I miss the seventies, mood rings, good shows on TV, 9 channels on over the air tv, am radio, etc.
How many times could one person play this album? 100's 😂
I don't think there were any girls back then who didn't love David...we all did , and still do.....what a voice , what a looker , he was adorable....miss ya Dave xxx
David played an undercover cop, infiltrating a high school for drugs...it was an episode of Police Story...I hoped that he would do more feature films...life is short, I get it, but such a talented young man....
What a wonderful singer David was ❤
Unbelievably good songs. Excellent backup singers, and David. He got in this by accident when they found out he could sing. He was going to be over dubbed. Along with Monkees manufacture d tv shows that produce d music better then today. Although Monkees became a real band. Actually Partridge Family based on The Cowsills.
Ah, the innocence of youth. The Partridge Family (BBS = Before I found out about Black Sabbath)
2021 baby!
Same!
BROVO LOVE THIS SONG XXOO
My parents and some of their friends were having a party at our house and we kids were spinning records in the living room. They were bitching about how many times he said, " I Think I Love You"...if memory serves me, it's over 50. Please God, take my ICD away so I don't go back and count it, lol. TY whoever uploaded this to You Tube. My 💜❤️ is happy with memories.
I just 4 and a half weeks ago reached out after 43 years to my first girlfriend at 17 years old, we were both young and innocent. We've been re connecting and now have fallen in crazy love with eachother. We both knew this song and loved it when we were 8 and didn't know eachother. I feel like I was singing this song to her WAY back then !!
I had every album they made and a poster of David Cassidy on my wall beside Barry Williams from the Brady Bunch. Those were good and easy days.
Can’t say enough about backup singers. Credit to creators of show to acknowledge this singers in credit. They were tv manufactured, but music turned out to be pretty good, even nominated for Grammy believe it or not. And we knew it was a pretend band. But it was good music, based on Cowsills, a family band in real life.
❤
THIS SONG WILL ALWAYS REMIND ME OF 1970'S GRADE SCHOOL
All I need to do is hear this song ....I remember the TV episode 🥰🥰
Yes
I want there show on FETV. I like there songs there better than today’s artist I think.
Arrangement and production value unbelievable. Who the hell is behind these Partridge melodies? Who produced this? Wow.
Jeff…I agree, the P-Fam records had incredible arrangement & production values! “I’ll Meet You Halfway” was written by Gerry Goffin and producer Wes Farrell. Instrumental arrangements were done by keyboardist Mike Melvoin, and the vocal arrangements were by Tom Bahler, John Bahler, Jackie Ward and Ron Hicklin…all of whom also sang those wonderful background vocals. It’s always bugged me when The Partridge Family records get lumped in with “bubblegum music.” Actually, the music is more in line with adult contemporary of the time…i.e. Carpenters, 5th Dimension, The Association, etc. ✌🏻
Today 04/17/2024! Hugs
I love this song. Such great music from one of my all time favourite tv shows. Classic 70's pop.
Happy Wednesday.....I'll meet you half way😉❤
This song reminds me of me and Wes,for the past three months since we met, still haven't gotten together!!🤔😟
