I love this wonderful song. Takes me back to 1971. I want to go back so bad, and stay. I'll meet you halfway, David.
Just started listening to David’s music again. I loved him in the 70s - saw him in concert 3 times. How could I have forgotten him. So sadly missed. All these songs remind me of the best times in the 70s. I listen to his music all the time now. It’s a pity that his music is rarely played on radio stations.

Unbelievable that it's now 50 years ago that The Partridge Family started airing, and David Cassidy is gone. The Blessings of his music still live on. Its bittersweet.
1971: David Cassidy asked for some more adult-sounding songs on the second album, and got them. This one came from producer Wes Farrell and veteran lyricist Gerry Goffin, once married to Carole King. It led off the LP, with David, Shirley Jones and the Ron Hicklin Singers, plus members of LA's famed Wrecking Crew and others handling the instrumentals. One of their best.
According to a doco I saw once, the band didn't actually exist as such (As stated by Shirley Jones) it was a T.V. show with David Cassidy, and occasionally, Shirley Jones singing and they were backed by professional singers.

1972 I was 6 years old and this song is part of an unforgettable memory when me and my 8 year old brother were in the bed of my Dad’s 61 Chevy pick up. We heard this song coming from the cab of the truck and my brother started sing it. We were enamored with this song because we discovered harmonizing that day and felt like we were onto something magical. This song reminds me of a time in my childhood When life was happy
grant dietrich David was popular selling out Stadium concerts at age 18. 1 of his concerts a 14 year old girl died of a heart attack the excitment got to her. To bad he had a drinking problem. For those who don't know, David Cassidy's father was actor Jack Cassidy and his mother was Evelyn Ward. Shirley Jones was actually David's stepmom, who Jack Cassidy later married and had Shaun Cassidy. Sadly, in 1976 Jack Cassidy died when he fell asleep with a lit cigarette and the bed caught on fire.
There was a made for television movie about David and his father and David's experiences with becoming a teen idol/international star. I remember watching it in late 2000 when I was packing my house to move. Wish I'd taped it. It's probably on youtube or somewhere...
Bell Records! By far the best studio record they produced along with Album. Davids voice was sped up to sound younger and there was MUCH more background vocals sang along with his lead.
Can someone tell me why we DON"T realize til we hit our 50's how fast life truly flies by? I'm 57 and I just want to cry when I hear the old "Bubblegum Music". I fell hard for "Shaun Cassidy". In fact a long time ago (1988) , I gave birth to my daughter. My husband said he had a "Push Present" for me. Well 2 weeks later he took me to Burt Reynolds Dinner Theater. SHAUN CASSIDY was the star of the play and not only were our seats front row center, at the end my husband after tipping the waiter, handed him another $50 which I thought was odd. Suddenly I found myself standing in front of Shaun and I felt like an idiot!! I could NOT speak, the words were not coming, bear in mind he was only wearing tight orange silk pants and nothing else! He and my husband spent several mintutes talking and for the most part laughing at me. But I got even 8yrs later when I hooked things up for him to meet HIS Idol James Taylor. Sure as hell while I spoke to James my husband stood there in stunned silence LOL!!
I don't think there were any girls back then who didn't love David...we all did , and still do.....what a voice , what a looker , he was adorable....miss ya Dave xxx

Jeff…I agree, the P-Fam records had incredible arrangement & production values! “I’ll Meet You Halfway” was written by Gerry Goffin and producer Wes Farrell. Instrumental arrangements were done by keyboardist Mike Melvoin, and the vocal arrangements were by Tom Bahler, John Bahler, Jackie Ward and Ron Hicklin…all of whom also sang those wonderful background vocals. It’s always bugged me when The Partridge Family records get lumped in with “bubblegum music.” Actually, the music is more in line with adult contemporary of the time…i.e. Carpenters, 5th Dimension, The Association, etc. ✌🏻
I was 10 years old and played the guitar on a Tennis raquite in the living room. And I’m 62 and became Sucsessfull at Guitar in the Studio I owe it all to the Family!!
It was 7th or 9th grade, I’m not sure which, but it was the last great time in my life. I was in love with an adorable 8th grade boy. I was cute, young, thin, popular, a cheerleader-you know, the things vitally important to a Jr. High girl. Then the bottom fell out. My parents separated, then went through a very acrimonious divorce that unwittingly involved me. It was an extremely traumatic experience. The AM bubble gum pop music of the time became something of a salve for my wounds. This was one of those songs…silly as it might be, that can still make me feel just a bit better.
Can’t say enough about backup singers. Credit to creators of show to acknowledge this singers in credit. They were tv manufactured, but music turned out to be pretty good, even nominated for Grammy believe it or not. And we knew it was a pretend band. But it was good music, based on Cowsills, a family band in real life.

[Verse 1]
Will there come a day
When you and I can say
We can finally see each other?
Will there come a time
We can find the time
To reach out for one another?
[Pre-Chorus]
We've been travelin' in circles
Such a long long time
Tryin' to say hello, ho!
And we can just let it ride
But you're someone that I'd
Like to get to know
[Chorus]
I'll meet you halfway
That's better than no way
There must be some way to get it together
And if there's some way
I know that some day
We just might work it out forever

What a wonderful singer David was ❤
This man sure had talent. I wasn't about to not watch those Partriges
David was beautiful
