I'm curious, does anyone actually like the Flameheart storyline, or even Flameheart as a character? Before everyone gets mad, hear me out. The lore for the game, before our pirates get there, is interesting, it makes for decent backstory. But I honsetly thought he was better dead, doing mystic manipulations from the Sea of the Damned. The story seemed at its all-time high when he was, and it was actually the Servant doing everything. This new story of Flameheart coming back and waging war is the exact same as the backstory for the game, a tale that's already been told. To add to that, Flameheart doesn't really have any character, with a very bland personality, no motivation for wanting to take over, and no plans for what to do with it once he does. He is just the simple bad guy because the game needs one for it's story to be entertaining. I think the story would be much better if it wasn't a retelling of the same story, but the Servant leading the reapers bones, with mystical help from the guy on the banner, as one of the several factions fighting for dominance over the seas. Thats what everyone liked about the Pirates movies, it was always several groups fightings, sometimes working together when it suites them.
Personally, if I had any control over The Narrative of the story, I would make it so that after you complete the maiden voyage, Ramsay appears on your boat to tell you to head to a specific coordinate on the map, but players will get confused when they look on the map and there's nothing there. The coordinate will take you to the now defunct, Sea Dog Tavern. Players would interact with DeMarco his sister and all other members of the Sea Dog Tavern in order to unlock and play through all of the different narrative bits. And by the time pirate's life comes around, DiMarco is no work to be seen, it's only until after you complete the pirate's life tall tales where we find out that DeMarcos been killed and we have to find his murderer. Pretty much all of this would be by Design you set up DeMarco as a prominent character, and make his death meaningful, because players would be invested in him as a character.
I know I am shouting into a void here, but THIS is what the game is missing, passion for some story telling. If the story we have now wasn’t the same quality of a 12 year old’s, we could MOSTLY gloss over some of the bugs in this game that make me want to rip out my own clavicle, because we would be hooked on a good timeline, and people like Falcore would actually have some content-rich lore to share. There are so many examples of how the story of a game can carry it, obviously the mechanics have to be functional (NOT THAT THEY ARE). But I guess I can’t wait to huff some more copium for season 15.
I have thought about the story beat with the old woman and the cold kraken calling chest since they wrote of it. Never left the back of my mind. And it has never been mentioned again. Yet almost everything else has.
@@CaptainFalcore Oh damn. Was I supposed to pay attention? My bad. I did listen to the intro but it was phrased a bit confusing. So you stick to canon but change how story is told. Got it.
I'd love to see Junior become some sort of twist character later on down the line. His Father's ideals and his own clash already, and I find it hard to believe that he's going to continue serving his father when everything he believed he was as a child is being proven false. Curse and obsessive attachment aside, of course. I just wish Rare got their storytelling caps back on. Either way, much prefer your version of the story. Hopefully the devs get some ideas from it.
I really wish we could replay some of the adventures (obviously not the world-reshaping ones like Battle for Golden Sands), just so the ones who joined long after they happened (me included) could experience them and get a more personal understanding of how the world came to be the way it is.
The Ferryman only allows those who follow the Pirate Code back into the Seas from the Sea of the Damned. The Siren Queen certainly did not. Flameheart and Duke are the ONLY people who did not follow the pirate code and returned from the Sea of the Damned, but both for very isolated experiences that were explained either in the lore of the game, or in the novels. The Siren Queen just popped back, and never even talked about her death.
@@CaptainFalcoreMaybe what we perceive as the sirens dying isn’t actually death but some sort of magical teleportation. Maybe siren gems are being sold back to the siren kingdom so they can re-summon their troops. But this is definitely a plot hole that needs to be explained better for the Siren Queen’s story. I wouldn’t mind seeing some tall tales about a war between ancients and sirens to retcon or explain where she was or how she came back. There are some unexplained underwater structures still.

I miss the old days, every month something more to say, speculate or add over the narrative. The story has been dead for some time now, abandoned and wounded by terrible and incoherent writing. When I see the pendragon painting on reapers hideout, all I see is the narrative, banished. Sad.
I mean, Falcore theorized that Pendragon could return in an older video, just cause he’s kind of an important character, so if Rare could pull that off without messing up, I think itll be a lot better.
The story was why I started to enjoy sea of thieves so when it started to become rather confusing and dis jointed, as welll as rushed. I stopped enjoying the game
My list of things that kill sea of thieves both in a narrative and gameplay perspective: 1 The sea of thieves feel tame: The world in general feels tame, the environment is not a threat at all, I'm talking about the sea in general, also the islands, and most of sea life if you count the kraken and megalodon as events not roaming obstacles, the only real threat you encounter is piratewise, this makes sailing boring, it feels like taking a uber across islands with the chance of a player encounter 2 Player and pirates on the spotlight: They give too much protagonism to tge player, who's just a generic character in the world (has to be for the MMO to work) and the way the story goes is too much on the hand of the player base, this turns the mystery and excitement of the narative into a predictable boring democratic system, also, the only obstacles the history characters are currently facing are each other, no environmental obstacles for them to face like a monster in their way or a island impossible to get to or the sea of the damned trying to resist flame hearts control and stuff like that 4 Misteries: Mystery feels like HR dynamical activities for keeping employees entertained, they're not mysteries, they're puzzles and treasure hunts, mysteries are: you throw clues to a narrative in the game scattered around, don't tell anything to any one, never ever talk about it again, and let for someone someday spot it and say "hey, what's that, and what it means" let the community gather by itself to try theorizing about what they found, don't even touch on the topic, and maybe drop the upcome to what you were building up, it being an update an mechanic or whatever, just like they did with the reapers hideout 5 Wrong update direction: Instead of enriching the game in what it lacks they just keep adding more of the same, that only improves the game in a direction that is already enough good
Mysteries were honestly a mistake, to even participate, you had to log on to Twitch, Instagram, etc, instead of actually playing the game, meaning most people probably never knew about the mysteries until after they were solved.
I asked rare if they could help a day one player (me) find the last parts to finish my ship set- obsidian wheel and capstan - so I emailed them just the other day to see if I could get an answer before my birthday at the end of this month :( to no avail… so If anyone could help me with an answer! You could make my birthday just a little better!
You know what would be amazing, if you log in Sea of Thieves in your birthday, you receive a random cosmetic for free. That would be so sick. Good luck finding your obsidian ship set!
Your definition of clickbait is outdated. If this was a picture of a hot girl reacting to something with the title "WE PRANKED HER HARD 2024" and the video had no context of that. Then yes. But this is what you call relative marketting. Its the same as a movie poster. DUNE is a good example, a poster of a sandworm and an incoming battle with just the word "Dune". The movie wouldn't of done so well if it was a picture of tax documents and the title was "Fraud of a Sovereign Nation and a lot of political talking"
