I do love a trend, but I especially love seeing Lisa’s elevated version of the trend 🤩
Thank you xx
Agree!
so is this the modernized version of the 90's monochromatic brown looks? is latte just a little lighter brown. great job! @@LisaEldridge
I don’t follow them, I have my own tastes and don’t want to look like everyone else.
@@makeupunlimitedIKR? I'm a child of the 70's and 80's. There truly is "nothing new under the sun". Except maybe the glowing nose look a few years back. I recall the "cut-crease" eyeshadow trend that was touted as "new". We were doing that in about '87, maybe earlier. 😊
Lisa Eldridge, the epitome of grace, style and class ❤
🥹😘😘
AMEN
Agreed
I love the fact that drug store makeup were used for your latte look. It turned out beautiful! I also love the fact that you add historical perspective and information behind trends that started 100s of years ago and picked up again now with new nicknames. Thank you Lisa!
Thank you for watching xx
Would love to see a series where you take the same look/ trend and adapt it for different skin tones, features, skin types, etc.
Great suggestion, thank you. Xx
I'm happy that these micro-trends focus on a look and not around specific products. It's so fun to use things I already have to try new things. Like you said, these aren't groundbreaking looks, but it's a nice excuse to try something in a fresh way. Love your tip about the cream blush! :)
💖💖💖
At 71 I have developed a new found love of makeup, I can not get enough, which can cost an awful lot of money! It is so much fun! Watching different influencers do their take on these trends has given me many new and good ideas for applying my makeup. I am not as interested in following a trend as I am about learning the best way to apply my makeup to enhance my look without looking like I have gone overboard:) Thank you for what you do and the way you teach in your tutorials is wonderful!!
What a great comment,I hope I feel the same when I get to 71 ❤
I fell the same.
Have fun! When I was young I just wore a ton of black eyeliner and not much color. Now I’m experimenting more. Maybe because of social media wasn’t around when I was younger. I don’t know but it’s fun for me. None of my friends are beauty lovers though. I wish I could find a partner in crime. An enabler if you will.
Can you imagine shopping at Boots, looking up and seeing Lisa Eldridge shopping drugstore makeup?! That would be a double-take type of situation! This look is beautiful, as always. Such enjoyable, informative content. Thank you!
When Lisa said “it’s easy” after showing how she conceals the cheeks with the same color already there just showed the genius of Lisa Eldridge and the years of wisdom and knowledge she possesses in her profession. I gasped. ❤❤❤❤❤
😘😘😘
I thought the same❤ will be trying it myself😊
RIGHT?! I watch more UA-cam than I should and rarely do I get real tips I can use from anyone other than Lisa.
that was exactly my thought in that moment!!
👏👏👏 to Lisa, as usual! ❤
Absolute genius!❤
Browns are an all time classic and you never go wrong with them, it’s not a trend it’s a stablished “institution”. What an impeccable look you created 👌🏼🤩
What I appreciate about this look is the fact that it is relatively easy to recreate and still looks very sophisticated and can be easily applied for an elegant night out.
What I find interesting (as a history buff in general) is WHY the trends are changing so quickly. I imagine it is partially due to the fact that people are inventing content every single day, and there is a non-stop race to have the next new idea. Social origins discussions are fascinating, don't you think? ❣️
As a historian myself I love when you go into the history of beauty and makeup. This look reminds me so much of the looks we wore in the mid 90's. Brown eyeshadow and brownish lipstick was THE look when I was in high school. So it's always interesting how the trends always make their way back around again. Especially interesting when you think to of how trends coincide, like Birkenstocks are now back in style and we wore those in the 90s as well.
Yes it seems like the way some 70s trends came back in the 90s, now both 70s and 90s trends have been back for a while, esp the 70s home decor trends. As a 90s kid, I love it
I absolutely agree !! … l was born late 1960’s and wore these colours in the 90’s 😊… everything old is new again !!
As trends go. I believe everything comes around again! This look reminds me so much of the 90's Supermodel look! I love it!
I love when you talk about the history of makeup…I bought Face Paint right when it came out and love it so much, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve reread it. I would absolutely love a new book from you…your knowledge and passion for the art of makeup is astounding!!!
I’m working on one ;) xxx
@@LisaEldridge O_O
Oh, I can't wait to see a new book in print! "Face Paint" is one of my most treasured books.
I can’t wait either…not only was Face Paint so interesting and informative, the pictures were beautiful!!!
Latte and espresso make up trends are very wearable and classy trends. As always love Lisa’s spin on any trend. I think like you said, trends are just meant to be fun and I choose to follow what I like and ignore what I don’t 😊
It’s trending but also classic. I love what you said about making it your own.
As a hair and makeup artist, I sometimes find certain trends like lash extensions and “the butterfly cut” to be just buzz words for something that does not suit everyone. Because it’s so big on social, people tend to think they MUST have or do that trend. Just because you can doesn’t mean you should!❤😊
My 26 yo daughter (an illustrator) had lunch with me looking like a cottage-core bog flower with a strawberry girl makeup look - and I couldn’t describe her to you without all these trends describing the plethora of looks out there!!! I love them and find they give some connection to art/history/geography to a very global media expanse. Love your latte look with just a touch of pink - brown and pink are so romantic together!
I think what's fascinating about the shortening of trends, is that I see it coinciding with the shortening of attention spans. We now live in an era of rapid technology creation and we as humans have been trained to be looking for the "newest" and "latest and greatest" at all times. Once something new comes, the old is out and forgotten - unless someone reinvents it or brings it back. I think it's cool that we have access to so many ideas today, but I also appreciate the simplicity and ingenuity of people in the past who had to get so creative with so little and yet still impact so much of what we do today! Love the look Lisa! Gorgeous as always! Also, Viseart's Petit Four quad in "Praline" is the perfect palette for the latte eye! :)
A glowy version of 90's makeup. Love it!
This look reminds me of your “Universally flattering makeup” which i have practiced on myself. As you said, take it and make it yours- makeup is meant to be fun, and this one is a great keeper! Nothing too outlandish.
I'm ahead of the trend.. this look has never left!!! Use colours that are a blend of pinky browns if the pure brown isn't quite what you're wanting.
I started watching Lisa's videos three years ago and now they're a permanent fixture of my UA-cam lineup. I used to have a lot of animosity towards the beauty industry, but she's softened my impression of how and why we use makeup - more as a mode of self expression and less of a way to cover ourselves up. Little things that she does have become a part of my own routine, from skin massage to finishing my morning makeup by saying "and that's the finished look!" Thanks for being such a positive force in the industry, Lisa!
That pinpoint concealing trick is a game changer!! I can’t believe I’ve never thought of that. Brilliant! 👩🏼🎨
I see this trend all over and cannot help but think how perfect MAC's Groundwork for this is. Thank you Lisa for your take on this and I love that you used all drugstore makeup!
I've been participating in makeup trends since I was a teenager in the 70s and while I don't necessarily do my makeup according to any given trend I do find them really interesting to follow. I'm also interested in a peripheral way in the history of makeup, and really enjoy the videos you've make on the topic. Thanks so much for the wonderful content.
Dear Lisa, what an impeccable version of this 'latte trend' you created. You look so effortlessly classy, chic and elegant. 😍 As an 80's baby/milennial, I grew up seeing this trend and started rocking this mocha-neutral-brown make-up during my teenage years, during the last 90's -early 2000's era and never stopped. This became one of my go-to-look. Truly one of these timeless classic that can truly suit everyone imo.
I love doing my make up. I feel so relaxed, creative and happy. All my little brushes and pots. I love learning how to blend colours and tones. It is such a lovely morning ritual , even if it is just a bit of this and that ,I cherish the time with myself. Experimenting and adapting trends into my look is especially interesting. Sitting down in front of my vanity is a happy way to start my day.
I love that you only used concealer as a where-needed-only foundation! This look is really pretty. You’ve made me want to consider the darker 90’s lip liner again too. $5 for one to try is much better than $35-45 too!
Watching how Lisa conceal thoroughly and bronzing, Lisa proofs that make up is really an art. And she gives tips. So Wonder ❤
Thank you xxx
Usually, I don't lean toward a full-on brown/warm makeup look...but now that I see how you've really made it work, I think I'm going to give it a go. You look beautiful. Thank You for this tutorial🤎
Lisa, you have read my mind, darling! 😍 I have been attempting the Latte Makeup trend for the past month or so...still haven't quite nailed it and this tutorial is EXACTLY what this 50 year old needed...thank you!! 😘
Enjoy 😘 Xx
Hi Lisa! My own two cents on trends are that they're self defeating. At the point at which 'everyone is doing it' they're no longer new, subversive or cool by virtue of being niche. And whereas two hundred years ago it took much longer for trends to spread ( I think of Mrs Bennett in Pride and Prejudice being delighted at her friend's news of long sleeves becoming fashionable!), With the growth of media across the twentieth century and now the digital age, trends simply reach their peak and inevitable decline more quickly. I'm writing a book about Victorian hair jewellery (which had sub trends for snake bracelets, acorn earrings and all sorts) so I've been thinking about this a lot 😂
I love an ever-changing trend, because if you stick with one it will come around again really soon!
One thing that's nice about lots of trends is the greater chance of finding a look that works for you. I would never have done the "cold girl" makeup, but it really plays up my natural coloring so I'm not fighting nature.
Loved the spot-concealing tip of using the leftover products on your hand. Genius!
Glad it was helpful! 😘😘😘
Best latte look yet from a true professional. Respect!
Beautiful as always! I’ve been watching your videos since 2011, I actually LEARNED how to be a makeup artist from you! I went on to work for Chanel for almost four years. Your voice instantly transports me back to when I first started my makeup journey. You are the best teacher and I will forever watch your videos and be thankful for you Lisa ❤❤ I hope I can meet you one day and give you the biggest hug!
The colors and sheerness overall remind me of wearable looks I’ve seen in some 70’s movies
I love this look on you and also love that you took a trend and made it the most flattering to your specific coloring. I feel like what is flattering has gone out the window with the everybody can wear or do anything era. Sure, everyone has the inherent right to wear something that isn‘t the most flattering if that is their choice and they feel good, but it’s silly to pretend everyone looks good in everything. It’s very smart to know what flatters your skin and body type, IMO. I don’t know why we expect every line and every product to serve every person out there. There are plenty of things that aren’t for me out there and that is just fine.
I love anything to do with makeup, how people are wearing it, which shades they are wearing false eyelashes, bare eyelashes, thick brows, thin and no brows..it’s all magic, I started in 1973 at 13 with miners and Mary quant now 63 and love Chanel & Lisa Eldridge..will love it til I croak..xx
I too love a trend, however in the form of art. I thoroughly believe in inspiration and we're living in a wheel of art that continues to turn bringing back older favourites with a twist. I work as a counsellor and can also see the potential damage of trends and how they can add a form of anxiety to keep up and in this era we're seeing trends like you said come and go so quickly. So all in all yes, trends are good from an artistic point of view but don't forget the importance and celebration of individuality and uniqueness.
Individuality is the keyword. I totally agree
You wear a brown no-makeup makeup eye look so beautifully, Lisa. Thank you for this inspiration and for featuring drugstore/high street products!!!
It's so much fun to experiment with new trends, but it can also be difficult to afford to keep up so I appreciate that Lisa provided a drugstore version. Also, I think this one looks so beautiful that I would want to keep wearing it even when the trend dies down.
I too purchased face paint. I have always loved makeup and started getting into trends in the late 60s as a young teenager. Always had Glamour magazine and couldn’t wait to get every month. I’m 69 now and stay current with UA-cam videos. I certainly don’t follow every trend, but I stay current and my 3 granddaughters see me as their skin care and makeup family guru. I’m fascinated by history of make up and trends and would love to find additional resources for learning. Mainly 20th century, Max Factor, Helena Rubenstein, Coty, all of it. I loved the video you did using the old recording of how to apply makeup and how far women have evolved in modern culture.
I like this latte look. Concerning trends, I put on my face what I like and how I prefer it. I am an adult and know how to do my make up. Your lipstick is often part of my make up!
I enjoy all these trend looks partly to update a bit and partly to revisit previous looks. I’m 61 and still love makeup as much as I did in my teens. It’s fun to rediscover old trends in a new way and adapt them to modern formulas (and my own changing appearance). I did a similar version of this with some of your eyeshadows that I already had but with a rose brown lip (less corpse like with silver hair 😂). Liked it so much I’ve been sticking with it for weeks! Loved this look you did and all the (as always) useful tips ❤
19:04 as a content marketing strategist, I’m overwhelmed by all these trends. There’s a huge mental health burden to carry by having to keep up with them. As a makeup enthusiast, they make me smile a little, because I find them to be a remarket of makeup styles I’ve been wearing for the past 15 years. I mean…a caramel makeup look, a brown smokey eye, a fresh pink complexion look… they’re just being cheeky and putting other labels on them like latte, espresso, matcha, strawberry makeup…
trends these days feel more and more like ideas to sell more products to people out there and get more clicks on social media. nobody can keep up with these „trends“ tbh, so it‘s refreshing to see someone like you who shows us great techniques so we can take whatever suits us from these routines and make it our own. thank you for another great video 😊
Lisa, you are the best artist and character on UA-cam, so happy you are still doing videos for us so many years on. ❤❤❤
The latte makeup trend looks like it was made for you, Lisa. Simple in concept but appears gorgeous against your brunette hair & warm eyes. Personally, be it latte makeup or strawberry makeup or whatever trend, they inspire me to recreate it with my own spin on it :). Love this video & topic so much…we’re so lucky to have access to such a talented makeup artist such as yourself, Lisa. Hello to Ted!!! ❌🅾️🤎☕️
As soon as you use some drugstore makeup, they look like high end. This is a very beautiful latte makeup look.
This trend makes me think of the 90’s, yes, but also, we use more and more bronzers and highlighters now, which color wise are basically café latté, so this trend comes, according to me, naturally from what we are using right now, some nude, sun kissed look with some highlighter for the milk part.
I don’t know what to think about the tomato and strawberry trends, it is fun, probably because we went too much in the sun, we burnt a little and here is the result after the latte look 😂. In winter, we will go back to the cold cheeks look 😊
Thanks so much for using drugstore make up, Lisa. I also appreciated the tip on using the same brush for bronzer, blusher and highlighter to keep the cheeks so looking natural.
I love how you share so many tips and tricks to adapt it to everyone (the blush idea definitely will help me). I also very much appreciate that it's drugstore based. Regarding trends, I really like the creativity behind them, but I am worried that they become an excuse for hyper consumerism. Obviously make up artists and content creators have a great variety of products so they can explain and show all different kinds of textures, finishes, products at different price points, etc. And I have no issue with that. But I don't think the average consumer should purchase new products for every trend, because most (wearable) trends are often iterations of the same themes and we can often use products we already have. I hope people watch the trend videos more for inspiration & fun, but purchase fewer and better products (more sustainable, multifunctional, etc.)
At first i rolled my eyes at it all, but after i heard kelly gooch making a great point, she changed my mind and i am actually looking for all these types of trend videos. She pointed out that all of these trendy renaming videos are actually more like old school tutorials where -
1- they arent pushing all new products- just describing types of products that can actually help you shop your stash and get creative to use what you have
2- they are going over techniques that can teach you something or give you a new perspective on an existing look - ie: “brown eyeshadow” and “red blush”
Thank you for your take on it as well! 🧡👍🧡👍
I also have to add a bit of pink (to cheek & lip) to make this trend fit my complexion. Great tip!
This has always been my favorite style of makeup. Very 90s. Loved it! Absolutely beautiful
It's very much a nod to the 90's, love it. As for trends, everything comes around again especially in fashion and maybe slightly less so in make up with the added bonus of improvements in materials and products.
I thought so 90s too! Nicer formulas than we had then though.
I tried the Latte look a couple of weeks ago and I added a raspberry pink lipstick which made the look for me come to life. I called it the raspberry latte look.
I absolutely love Lisa and her videos. She’s the best makeup artist to me. Also, I love when she talks about the history of makeup. She’s passionate you can tell and that’s why she’s the best! And oh, her makeup line products is AMAZING!
The thing I love about all these trends is how it gives everyone a lot of room to explore and have fun with their make up. The thing that kind of worries me, similar to quick trends in clothing is it can encourage people to not really consider the things they purchase and perhaps over-consume. I am quite a fan of finding ways to tryer newer trends with the stuff I have laying around though :)
Wow I really appreciate the drugstore aspect of this! I’m broke and trying new makeup trends is always a painful topic especially when I have such oily skin that cannot hold anything on it for any significant amount of time 😂
It's interesting how trends always return. As you said, this look has been around for a long time. This was my go to look in the late 80's, early 90's. I also add a hint of pink blush to my bronze look, it's a great tip! Also Lisa, would love to see a hair tutorial!
Absolutely LOVE this look! It’s so quick and effortless!
Beautiful look, despite it being drugstore, you made it look very expensive. ❤ Masterclass! 🙌🏻
I love this makeup, I use to work on a Clarins counter. This kind of look was basically what I did as a basis make up that I wore nearly every day. So gorgeous - I love it!!!!!
You're such an amazing artist, Lisa! I get mesmerized every single time ❤
Your advice on adapting a trend to suite yourself, made me think that trends come and go in such rapid succession nowadays. It doesn’t allow people time to play around with the trend and adapt it to their personal style. This can lead to a lack of variation in how the trend is presented in society and media. Which means new makeup users (professional and personal) may be more concerned with replicating images, rather than enjoying makeup as a creative outlet.
Lisa Eldridge, the epitome of grace, style and class . Lisa Eldridge, the epitome of grace, style and class .
I so enjoy your videos. No hype, no dramatics, just great advice. Best advice I’ve gotten from you is that foundation isn’t meant to cover all the spots and pigmentation vs pinpoint application of concealer.
😘😘😘
Dear Lisa, this look looks lovely and youthful on you! It is definitely a sophisticated version of the trend , and it will be lively to copy it watching your tutorial and looking in the mirror with a set of brushes at hand! The most interesting part is -as usual - your thoughtful observations of the time we are living at... Many people physically feel that time is going on faster than it used to.. I don't know if that is why everything is so short living these days?
I learned how to do my makeup from your videos years ago - particularly how to build a base that feels and looks natural. I've experimented with my techniques since then but always based it off your philosophy. Was delighted to see that you applied that camo concealer in the same way I do -- or more accurately, to learn that I apply mine the way you do! Thank you for all these wonderful videos and teaching me everything I know :)
Beautiful tutorial. Love the fact it was adapted to drug store products. For those who love high end products, I like using the Diorshow 5 couleurs in shade 689 Mitzah to achieve the same eye look.
Yay! I was missing these types of videos, they are so uplifting!
Trends go fast and can be overwhelming, but your take on adapting them to your own self makes a difference.
Thank you!
I think you’re spot on right about trends and find it really interesting how quickly everything rolls over and doesn’t seem to last these days.. because of technology, we are living in such a fast paced, temporary wave of things- where not enough is cherished & or permanent.. It’s ok to change things up, but sometimes I do wish some things would slow down a bit more. It can remove the joy of makeup, because of the ever pressing rush, to be “on to the next new thing” hope that all made sense🤷🏻♀️ and I love history so to combine that with makeup is just the cherry on top! ❤ thanks Lisa- I love the latte look and it’s my typical go-to, on the daily❤
Im only a few minutes in and felt compelled to comment. Lisa thank you for acknowledging drug store make up. As well as loving your products I absolutely enjoy more affordable makeup too. Again you show real integrity because I cannot imagine any other mua/ brand owner doing a video like this. The way in which you talk about the products is also refreshing. Please keep doing what you are doing because I am living for it. With love xxx😘
I love that NYX eyeshadow palette. I’m on my second one in the last 4 years. This trend is so pretty a wearable for everyday and work.
So nice of you to do a tutorial again using affordable products! I also wonder which of your products would suit this look.
Simply the best! She's amazing. Love the look.
I always take from trends what works for me but a lot of them are too gimmicky and wouldn’t even realistically work except for the social media show. I love the way you did it ❤️ as always such a positive input on a topic. Xoxo
This was such a fun video. I love that you went with drugstore/affordable products. Your version of this trend definitely makes it more wearable for someone of my age. I have to be careful with some trends as a lot are geared for a younger crowd than I am. I so appreciate how you share tips and tricks throughout your videos. You never fail to be my favourite MUA.
Yes! I have used the ELF concealer in light beige for years. I mix it with a Wet n Wild green primer to make a lighter coverage foundation with the perfect light golden/olive shade.
I always adore your historical framing for the art of cosmetics❤
Loved this look, Lisa! As you said, knowledge in makeup has progressed so much that a lot of looks can find their inspiration in history. But in terms of what we wear on a day-to-day basis, I think that it'll still be low maintenance and easy to put on - regardless of trends. This is mainly in part due to our ever increasingly hectic lifestyles. Classic styles will never go out of fashion simply because they are tried and true ways to enhance our facial features while giving us room to adapt. I think it will be interesting to witness truly innovative styles in the future. We've done anti-pretty, glam, anti-glam, hyperreal shine etc. I would even venture to say that the time of the pandemic was a "style" in itself when we didn't expect the same level of grooming when we met our colleagues. However, I hope that we will be celebrating our diversity of beauty rather than converging on a singular look. Unfortunately, it seems like years and years of exalting similar types of beauty, combined with the advancement of plastic surgery and AI, seem to be leading us on the path of convergent beauty.
I also think it's interesting about the trends. Thinking about it, back in the Egyptian or medieval eras communities were a lot more insular. As a rule people didn't really leave the places they were from so new ideas weren't readily being introduced. Now we have the whole world at the touch of our fingers and we can be introduced to ideas in an instant. I think especially with the nature of Tiktok and its user demographic a lot of it is about who can come up with the latest 'viral' video, get the most comments, subscribers etc., so they are constantly having to come up with these new 'trends' to compete with the others.
Love this “latte” look on you Lisa! 🤎☕️🤎 Stunning as always! Love watching your impeccable technique!
I consider fast trends a search. The objective depends on every person. Some look for fun, fame, some for money, some their own ideal make up.
If someone goes after every trend... I think he/she spends too much time in front of screens. In my humble opinion.
It's always a pleasure to watch Lisa working.
Lisa that eyeshadow makes your eyes glow. Stunning!!
Love the trend and love how you make it affordable and elegant Lisa, thank you! 🫶🏻
Love this look on you Lisa, and thank you for trying all drugstore brands brilliant! Love how exciting you get about the history of bygone trends.💄😺
Love that you used drugstore!!
I will always love a 90s brown makeup. Really enjoyed the variety of products, too. Thank you.
So pleased you enjoyed it, thank you xx
This look is beautiful! You look fresh, clean and polished! It accents your assets without the makeup itself stealing attention from your beauty. I'll try this! 🐾🐈
You elevate makeup and I think this sums everything up. Ms. Lisa Eldridge: I love your elegance, your knowledge about the History of makeup and its techniques. Some people are just sellers and come across as quite well...cheap underneath all the show they put on. For me, you really embody the spirit of elegance and perfection in all you work. Thank you so much! (ps. bought and loved you book, pleaaaaaaaaase make more!!) best regards from Portugal
Thank you for another great video, Lisa! That NYX Nude Truffle lip liner is a favorite
My son is a historian, so I love the historic perspective because he does. As a person who loves makeup, I love seeing the trends and I test them out if I already have the products… if I don’t have the products for a trend I love, yes, I go to the shops
I adore your take on trends, you make them classy!!
Thanks a lot for using drugstore products 💖
I've been really into one-shadow looks too! If you use a good shimmer you still get a nice depth and highlight effect just with one shade
Hi Lisa, haven’t watched the entire video yet. Will be doing that now. But I skipped to the end to see the look and love love love your take on this latte makeup look. I personally use lots of browny shades on my light to medium skin tone. Thanks for picking stuff from the drug store. Can’t wait to watch the entire video ❤
Love the look on you, and like you said it's giving something that we already do, a new name and hence a trend is born! I've been wearing this exact look for the past 20 odd years as my signature go-to everyday look. Love it. ❤️
Absolutely love these understated kinda makeup looks which are not really common with most trends nowadays. Such a stunning finished look!! 😍
