Autumn, I found your channel about a month ago. I am a 58 year old man, faced with having to loose 160 pounds. I have implemented your expert advice. After 31 days I'm so happy to report a loss of 22 pounds. Also, for the first time in years, im not craving sugar and mass carbs. I have a long way to go, but this is about undoing years of terrible eating habits and changing my life. I'm grateful for your advice...thank you...Mike
Keep it up, but how did you start to loose what did u change
I need to lose 50 with a target weight of 230. Figured my protein grams needed but what about sugar grams? Are they zero, 20? Help me out and congratulations 😊
@bobbywilson1698 hi Bobby, I'm now down 130 pounds. I have kept my carbs at twenty or less per day , and I use intermittent fasting twice per month. It has become a lifestyle for me. Take care...m
@michaelmoore2802 thank you and congratulations
What is the title of the video that helped you?
Sleep does help but at the end of the day it’s all about what you’re eating/drinking. I lost 90 pounds and a significant amount of belly fat by eating more protein and good carbs. No soda, no alcohol and no beer! 👍🏽
Nice job... Do you measure your sleep now/ then?
@@Calaman345 yes I do!
Congrats!!!
@@AutumnBates thank you!!
@@SelfTaughtWeightloss congratulations. Did you IF? How long did it take?
With your advice i have lost 5kg in 2 months. I am watching from Burundi/ East Africa

Thank you, darling! Love your tips, because they always but always helped me. You speak facts. 😊
I just stumbled across your vids and I’m obsessed! Your techniques and advise sound easy and not to harsh to follow! 💕❤️
Super helpful! Good sleep has definitely been the silver bullet for me :)
Absolutely love your videos consistently recommending them ❤
Great concise source of information! 👍
Thank you!
I just started watching these videos and they are by far my favorite Autum you are amazing your energy and fact filled info make this so easy!
Thank you so much Alexandra!! I'm so happy you're loving my videos! Welcome to the AENpeeps!🤓❤️
Timely video! I will put these tips into effect tonight. I am really bad about no tech time before bedtime. I enjoy your channel!
The no tech time can be tricky at first! But after a few days, you get used to not using tech before bed and your sleep will thank you!
Your vids are the best. They break things down soooo simply. I've been hearing all these things for years but no one ever put them together like you do. Even with my trainers it was don't eat this don't drink that but then I'd put on weight after because there was no correlation as to how all of this stuff works together.
Definitely grateful I stumbled across your videos. I have been doing the hard way for years. Working on sleep and getting the right amount of protein. Love the scientific information - oh and the Cauli Rice Burrito Bowl is a major hit at home!! Peanut Zoodles are tomorrow night!!! Thank you Autumn for all you do. Cheers!
You are always spot on! 🎯
I have to forge my way to a good night's sleep because it often doesn't just happen without encouragement!🌜
Thanks Autumn!! ⚘ Cheers!! ☕♥️
Keto Coffee cheers!! It was great seeing you in the chat at yesterday's live!
I love your videos, Autumn. You are my favourite health coach 💜
Thanks Kelly!🤓❤️
It took me a while to pay attention to what your advice- no phone scrolling before bed... well I finally did and I do get much better sleep! 😴💤
Fantastic video!
I love your video layouts. Thank you!
Thanks for the great advise Autumn. You have a very expressive face which shows your dedication to healthy living....
Thanks to you Autumn, I have been making a real effort to get my full 8 hrs. I have been pretty clean in my eating and extending my intermittent fasting window a bit more but the belly fat was stubbornly hanging on- and it was my poor sleep that was holding me back! I really had no idea it would be so beneficial for my health and fitness goals.
It's crazy how much sleep can come into play! I'm so happy to hear that you've been able to adjust your sleep as well as your meals and fasting! Congrats, Christine!
I took your advice and started taking magnesium before bedtime. That one change has made such a difference in the quality of sleep I get each night! Thank you.
Did it help you loose weight?
Where did she talk about magnesium?
Which type of magnesium? Citrate or glycinate?
@@elletravels882 idk for sure. Probably citrate, but it likely doesn't actually matter which form you find it in. The citrate or glycinate will just act as a kind of stabilizer until you ingest it, at which time your body absorbs the Mg and degrades the citrate or glycinate. Supposedly these molecules can also help improve Mg absorption. I'm not 100% on whether that's true. But, either way, without them, the Mg would just try to bind to whatever it could and this binding would cause the Mg to oxidize before the supp ever left the factory. That's what I mean when I say they stabilize the Mg, they prevent that oxidation so the supp can be delivered to you, and eventually to your cells.
Cool hey?
@@TurdFurgeson571 very cool! Thanks for the info!
Your the best!!! Sooo smart. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful advice ❤😊
Thanks Autumn. Needed to hear this.
Happy to help, Monica!🤓❤️
Your channel is the only one where I watch video after video. This is the 4th this morning.
I lost 31 lbs since the beginning of this year by doing fasting. I had lost weight before doing keto but it wasn't working this time. I watched some Dr. Fung (and even Snake Diet) vids and their argument makes sense. Basically, when fasting, you turn off any insulin spikes at all and just eat the food you've already stored onto your body as fat. Even eating foods that cause lower insulin spikes like fats and proteins still trigger them. And also, you're body is going to eat that food before it starts eating the food on your body anyway. The whole 3 meals a day or more just won't work because you never get a chance to eat your body fat.
On top of that, you don't want to follow the old rule of eat less and exercise. If your maintenance calories are 2500 and you start eating 2000 or 1500 calories a day to lose weight, your metabolism will reset to the lower number. That's why anyone who's tried that method found that as soon as they started eating their old maintenance calories again, they shot back up in weight and often even gained extra. It's why you never see a reunion show with the Biggest Loser Cast. They almost all gained the weight back and often more.
With fasting, you don't slow your metabolism. You just switch from glucose energy to energy stored on your body with ketones. In more primitive times, we'd eat in the summer and put on weight when food was plentiful and then switch to the fat we put on plus whatever critters we could catch in the winter when food was scarce. It's why we survived as a species.
At the moment, I'm doing 3 day fasts (I had to work up to it), with a healthy meal after 72 hours. I also drink salty water to keep my electrolytes up as salts aren't stored in your fats. So half a tsp of salt, half a tsp of potassium chloride, in 2 litres of clean water. I still have some black coffee in the morning cus I don't want to go through caffeine withdrawals and I go for a walk every day and do some a little bit of weights though never to max.
Dr. Fung talks a lot about autophagy that fasting triggers too which is basically your body eating the dead cells and replacing them with new healthier ones so you appear younger. It can apparently eat through loose skin and stretch marks too. Oh and the hunger pains don't increase as you go day by day. They come in waves and then disappear. So I didn't have to worry about that either. So far, loving the results and will probably keep fasting on Omad when I've gotten down to my ideal for maintenance and because of the health effects from fasting..
Dr Fung is a genius
3 days wow
@@JoyfulJenn Once you've done fasting a few times, it's way easier. Your body doesn't release the hunger hormones as frequently. So instead of fighting the hunger pangs, you're just trying not to get bored and eating to fill time.
Love your videos!!
Love the content Autumn! Thank you ✨✨
Of course, John! Thanks for tuning in!
You're awesome and my favorite health coach! You have helped me tremendously! Now I'm on the right track. Thank you very much. Gillian
Thank you for this video. Just spent all summer loosing weight the ‘hard way’, and I ALWAYS felt hungry.

I could not get my weight to budge at all.... And then I took your advice about sleep. So big! I just wasn’t sleeping enough and it showed up on the big old belly.
Thanks for sharing, Debby! I hope you're doing well!
Thank you so much x
I love you and your videos Autumn.
Thank you so much, Gary!
I love this woman's brain!! ( ok, and her video charisma)
Hey there! Love your content, I just started my IF journey and had a quick question. According to the protein calculation I should be getting 200g of protein/day. I’m finding this to be extremely difficult with the 3 meals/day 16:8 IF schedule I’m on. Also, I’m just not hungry enough to get that much protein in. I should mention I’m currently strength training 4 days/week. Any advice?
That new haircut looks bomb!! 😍
I'm SUPER late, but I just stumbled on your channel, love your videos already and quickly subscribed. Great advice....however, no one seems to address the sleep issue as it pertains to people who work nightshift (like me), most information seems to be geared towards people who have a conventional schedule of a "9-5". Is there a way for people who work nightshift jobs to still get the benefits of sleep?
Autumn, I am 41 and doing IF to balance my hormones. I’m having breakouts (cystic acne) and am wondering how long it would take doing 16/8 to see results. I’ve been doing it for two months only!
I just found your channel and I am feeling so motivated again. I never tracked macros because it seemed so confusing, you made it so easy! I fall into the category of a high stress job. One night per week I work 36 hours straight and tend to get about 5 hours of sleep during that time. The other days I can get 6-8 hours of sleep. Is it okay to do HIIT/strength training on the days I get enough sleep and stick to walking on the days I only get 5 or less hours of sleep or should I be avoiding high intensity workouts?
Hey there autumn, do you have any suggestions for people who work 2nd shift? I work from 4 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. 5 days a week oh, so I don't get up at 7 or 8 a.m. like most people do. I wake up somewhere between 10:30 and 11 a.m. . I'm not hungry when I first wake up so I do start my day with a glass of lukewarm water followed by my daily cup of coffee. I usually eat around 1:30 p.m. or 2 p.m. which usually consists of avocado toast a smoothie or maybe one egg and one piece of toast. Then I don't eat dinner until about 6:30 p.m. which is usually something continue protein and a vegetable or maybe a soup or a sandwich with a piece of fruit. Break time is 9:30 p.m. which usually consists of a protein bar, trail mix, a piece of fruit or crackers and cheese. Then I don't eat again until the following day around 1:30 or 2 p.m. .
Autumn - I typically only sleep about 6 hours per night because that's all my body wants. Even when I don't set an alarm, I wake up after about 6 hours. Is this a bad thing? I don't think I can force my body to sleep longer. And I do not feel tired or fatigued when I wake. I feel good. Your thoughts?
Sleep, the most undervalued essential for life function. If anyone wants to improve every single area of their life, put more effort into getting more sleep, and quality sleep at that. A great book is “why we sleep” highly recommend it
Completely agree - sleep is one of the easiest to forget (but most important) aspects of health to consider.
Hair. Looks gorgeous.
Curious if your plan would help battle weight gain from quitting smoking
Hi I just found your channel can you share what you pare with salmon please
I really enjoyed your video. My girlfriend suggested it to me. I’ve been sleeping like dodo the last several months. I work evenings 8-10hrs. I usually don’t get off work til about 3-4am. I workout 3-4 times a week. Before I go into work.. so my pattern is way opposite of the norm. Any solid tips?
You talk about “the storing hormone”, will you clarify what it’s storing, please? Thank you 🙂
Hey Autumn, is there videos for someone wanting to start losing weight (your way). There is so much misinformation out there. I’m really confused on where to start.
Love your videos! I do have a couple questions about all the information you have shared.
You talk a lot about satiating foods and intermittent fasting. How long of a fast do you recommend for women? If you are feeling hungry during a fast, does that cause your body to reduce its metabolic rate?
I’m doing 14:10 intermittent fasting with morning and afternoon walks that get me to roughly 15k steps. I also do light stretching and sometimes a little weight lifting. I consume roughly 1300 cal per day and burn roughly 2600. I feel good but am I not eating enough? I’m worried I’m hurting my metabolism and I won’t continue the fat loss I’ve seen over the last few weeks.
Last question, what is your take on apps like My Fitness Pal and Fitbit?
Thanks for all the information and help!
Hi Charlotte! I have a free quiz you can take to help determine your Intermittent fasting window/schedule. You can check it out here: www.autumnellenutrition.com/post/intermittent-fasting-quiz
Regarding the apps, I'm planning on doing a video on these soon - stay tuned!
Hi autumn , I want to start a weight loss joinery I don’t know where to start , i weight about 188 and sleeping Schedule is so so right now I’m adjusting due to my new born baby 😊
How much deep sleep is good or recommend for weight loss?
Me watching this in my bed 🛌 before going to sleep 💤 😅
I wish I could sleep more but sadly uni thinks that we have 24 hours just for them
Facts
ah yes... school can definitely interfere with sleep, unfortunately. Making the most out of the sleep you CAN get is important - ex: not drinking alcohol close to bedtime and not using tech before bed. Good luck with school!🤓
What if you just don’t sleep well? (Good hydration, low stress, a cup of coffee in morning, high protein, no eating after 9, low screen time)
Oh u killed me with the no caffeine pass two. I'm jus gon b quiet and pay attention now.....
Are you a great sleeper?
You* past* just* gonna* be*
Love your videos. I have one question though. I've watched alot of videos by doctors that say eating too much protein can lead to extra stored fat. I have to eat 118 grams of protein a day and I also intermittent fast everyday. So how am I supposed to get 118 grams of protein in 2 or even 1 meal? And also wouldn't that much protein be over kill in one or 2 meals and lead to excess stored insulin or fat? Ty in advance
What if I work night shift 3 days a week doing a 12 hour shift from 7pm till 7am. What's the best way to get my sleep in? I find it really hard to sleep while on night shift. Especially the day I Starr my 3 night in a row . I don't usually sleep at all that first day.
Love your show Autumn. What is the best time to take apple cider vinegar and how to use it?

So I use agave in my coffee which I thought was better than sugar uhhh what should I use instead besides stevia cause I can’t stand that taste?
Does this video apply for menopause belly fat??Thank you❤❤
From my experience with clients, MOST people can see significant progress by addressing what I discussed in today's video, regardless of age. I have an amazing client who I'll be interviewing soon on my Channel on her experience losing weight (and keeping it off) in her 50s. Stay tuned!

Ok ma'am I feel like the only thing you didn't do was put my name on this video. This is me all day. I workout hard and eat way less but I do still eat three times daily. I'm so confused cuz sleep isn't really an option for me😒😒 thank you for the video
My problem is not falling asleep but, STAYING asleep..i don't do caffeine, my room is cool and dark, I take magnesium and meletonin about an hour before bed, I do look at my phone but I wear good blue light glasses, I use a weighted blanket ( if it's cool enough) I play sleep sounds, and try meditation..but still wake up several times..sometimes for hours
.😪
what type magnesium and dosage?
Urgent question! I am trying the intermittent fasting, and I also feel like I shouldn’t eat breakfast. If I use a protein shake as a breakfast substitute, is that ok? But won’t it spike my insulin? Because premier protein vanilla shake is super sweet to me even though it’s only 1 gram of sugar. Please help.
Hi Winny! I actually have a blog post that covers exactly this question! You can find it here: www.autumnellenutrition.com/post/should-you-actually-break-your-fast-with-a-protein-shake-fasting-do-s-and-don-ts
hold up, I know the protein calculation but what about how much fat I should be getting?
Great video. I have such stubborn belly fat holding on for dear life to me. Ugh. I hate it lol. Hopefully with better sleep, my stomach will shrink. I see weight loss in my arms, legs, face, but not stomach. 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🙂 I also have a quick question. I don’t eat sugar, but I use gummy vitamins, which contain sugar, will 8 grams of sugar a day contribute to belly fat?
It just depends on how carbohydrate sensitive your body is as well as what types of foods you're already eating throughout the day. As a rule of thumb, I generally stay away from gummy vitamins due to the added sugar.
Hi thanks for the great video!!😊
I use an oura ring which I find really good but still want to try this app. I clicked onto your link and entered all the questions. It is giving me a 7 day free trial and then £35 annually. Is this with the 40% off? Doesn’t seem right.
Hi Bally! I've just reached out to Rise App to have them check in on this - I'll update you with the details once they email me back. Regarding the Oura Ring, the Rise App syncs with Oura. It also syncs with Fitbit, which I've used that combination as well, and it can really enhance the Rise App experience!

(5'6" and 160lbs)
There are online walking workouts and other workouts that you can do indoors.
Hi Bailey - I totally understand. I would first focus on the quality of your food before diving into Intermittent Fasting. A lot of progress can be made with this step alone. This is actually something I discussed a LOT in my most recent livestream (which you can find here: ua-cam.com/video/y5QD3TlTObI/v-deo.html) Focus on your food first. That's a great first step. I also have quite a few free recipes you can experiment with here: ua-cam.com/play/PLamXkvGEvGD6qMKIyPJ8Z36A3DbPjcFMX.html
I am following Lucy Wyndham Read (I think it’s spelt) she’s great for indoor exercise. You may find her useful. Please don’t be down. We are advancing through the lock down 🙏🏻🌸💕

Quick random question why do people who work out seem to only meal prep 5 days out the week than 7! Days? U only suppose to to eat high protein when ur working out ?
I am self employed so it's hard for me to get 8 hours sleep am i am up by 4:30 to go for my walk

Do you have any advice for fasting and pregnancy?
Hi! It's EXTREMELY important to be getting enough nutrients for the growth of your child during pregnancy. For this reason, eating full satiating meals and not incorporating a fast may be a better option for you at this time.
Thank you Autumn. I’ve been still incorporating a lot of your meals such as chia seed pudding with berries & some of your awesome smoothies. I also ordered decaf purity coffee to make my keto coffee in the mornings. It’s been working out well.
I understand sleeping is important but what about people with insomnia? I have insomnia along with sleeplessness due to menopause. Can you help a girl out there? I have done all those things you mentioned and I even sit in a hot tub several night to help with relaxation and take evening primrose oil. But still average 4 hours a night.
@JoeSmith Yes, I have tried it and it give me horrible nightmares.
Yes... I need more sleep. I stress and overthink everything. Sleepless nights like the songs say for us single people is not good. Frankly, I need someone to sleep with.
Sooo what happens when you're a medical student that has to switch regularly between day and night shifts?
Or a HHA where I work sometimes 6/7 days a week, 12 plus hour shifts and they are all over the place. Starting sometimes 5 or 7p til 9a or 12 noon. I exercise, walk and try to eat healthy but my sleep schedule is non existent or heavily interrupted. Is it better to try to sleep even if tossing and turning OR get up and exercise/walk?? ..Help 😒😁
Any suggestions on losing fat on my thighs?
Outside of the cortisol connection with belly fat, reducing fat percentage in other areas of the body is primarily going to be focused on increasing fat burning mechanisms overall. I have videos on this here: ua-cam.com/play/PLamXkvGEvGD7OltNg-2sX2-W5ExFUoVPK.html

How much fat do i need??
Been on Keto for about a week and a half. Have been experiencing fatigue. I started out at 242lbs I sleep pretty good for being 60 years old. Weight is down to 234lbs. I mean sitting around I’m fine but doing a simple 5 mile walk I couldn’t do it, I could only do about 2 maybe 3 miles. Before my conversion to Keto I could walk 6 to 7 miles a day. I have been walking that far for about a year now 4 to 6 days a week. I never really lost any weight that is what led me to Keto. My question is will this fatigue vanish or is this a normal way of KETO?
@Polyglot Motivación down to 220 lbs. Christmas wasn’t very good. Way to many snacks at work.
Hello Autumn, Many thanks for your videos - the content is excellent! I thought I was 'educated enough' when it comes to nutrition but I have learnt a lot from you.
The only - can you please slow down a little? I am not at all trying to criticize your accent and style BUT after approx. 2 minutes of the non-stop but fast talk in the style/accent of yours, me and most my Scottish friend just cannot take any more, mute you and only rely on subtitles. In other words, the headache from the non-stop talk is not worth the information you can convey - and you obviously have a great amount of knowledge!
Just a thought for consideration. Maybe fellow Americans don't find your way of talk not as overwhelming? Not sure... Thanks and ALL THE BEST! mk x
If you click on the settings icon at the bottom right of the screen, you can slow down the audio speed. Hope that helps.
lol im watching this at midnight when i have to wake up at 7 am - i guess this is why i hit a plateau with IF *cries* LOL
How's that plateau going? Have u burst through it yet? 🤔
While doing fasting,I always end up with binge eating. Diet makes me eat more, binge!!Though I am in normal weight,I have lots of body fat.Should I need calorie deficit to lose fat? Can I lose body fat faster without fasting? As a teenager and asian,it's hard to lose fat cuz of my parents. What type of macros and exercise I need to lose body fat?Sorry for lots of question.
And lots of thanks for this video. I will try to follow this.

Dont intermittent fast every day!
Do like 3 or 4 days then one day just do a normal day of eating! Trust! Lemme know the results!😁👍

What happens if you have a big problem with falling asleep and or waking up at 2:00 am? In other words insomnia? Does that mean I’m doomed to have a big belly for the rest of my life?
Tried everything to cure insomnia, nothing works😂
So with me getting up at 4 going to the gym I don't get 7-8 hours of sleep.
If you can't increase the length of time you're sleeping, I would focus on the quality of sleep you can get. That can also help to greatly improve the rest and repair while sleeping!
Well the air force got me all fucked up then with their 11pm to 7am shift
My baby just doesn’t sleep well so I can’t 😩
The most effective exercise to burn stomach fat is crunches. Crunches rank top when we talk of fat-burning exercises. 👍
Never heard that... crunches dont burn fat they just build stomach muscle which you still wont be able to see because of the fat
I drink two pots of Folgers a day, and have no trouble sleeping. 🙃
good lord!!!!

Hi, was wondering if you are familiar with dr. Beth westie, she says it is BAD for women(especially menopausal women, )to work out in fasted state, this worries me because I workout in morning before eating and I actually feel like I have more energy than when I workout after eating, but now I'm worried I could be doing more bad than good. Her latest UA-cam video is on faster workouts, would love yout input on this, thank you!
Yeah I wouldn’t consider those good carbs carbs sigh
