    Elisabeth Elliot (née Howard; born December 21, 1926) is a Christian author and speaker. Her first husband, Jim Elliot, was killed in 1956 while attempting to make missionary contact with the Auca (now known as Huaorani) of eastern Ecuador. She later spent two years as a missionary to the tribe members who killed her husband. Returning to the United States after many years in South America, she became widely known as the author of over twenty books and as a speaker in constant demand. Elliot toured the country, sharing her knowledge and experience, well into her seventies.

    I'm so glad to see these on this channel and others. I have missed her so much ! In the very late 90s I discovered her and listened every day . God's ever lasting love and underneath are the everlasting arms. When she gave the show to someone else it was so hard for me. I listened in my mid 30s and was about to be married for the first time. I too had waited until the right man . I love Elisabeth. So much godly wisdom and so much like a mother for me. I miss her and look forward to meeting her in Heaven. Thank you and all channels who have her recordings on. God bless you.

    I have this longing in my heart that GOD can only fulfill and if ever my will is not squared to his, may He mold mine in accordance to his will. I know I don't figure out yet his purpose for me or maybe I'm still running away but untill I will find his, I know I will be still incomplete.

      +Diana Philip yes! Praying now for her live legacy of darling eight grandchildren and her daughter Valerie!! wow....puts a whole new spin on "but not my will be done!!" -- so humble: "I am learning....28:30... to dwell...live under the shadow of the ALIMIGHTY...." Not I know why....what....etc, etc...but...."I Know WHOM I have believed.....Amen, and Amen!!"

    I think the answer to the music issue is the recording was from a cassette tape which is notorious for the flip side (playing backwards) in the muffled background. I doubt it was intentional but if it was the only copy they had, well, they chose to use it hoping it wouldn't be noticed. The older the cassette, the more likely you would hear the reverse side as well playing backwards and muffled. They shouldn't have used it but it doesn't degrade her story in any way.

      The music is from the Bioshock Infinite soundtrack. It is titled Lighter Than Air. Although this music is quite pleasant to listen to, it does have an unusual and uneasy sound because of the odd sounds in the background. Why it has been chosen as intro music to several of Elisabeth Elliot's speeches found on UA-cam I have no idea. Hear the music here: ua-cam.com/video/0wzBxPyhtMc/v-deo.html

    I learn from this speaking that people come from all walks of life.the speakers here sound like they were from a very limited back round of education. Am not saying if had they'd had a better education that may thought of way more options then just flying into an open jungel with known killers waiting for them.but yes maybe they would have brain stormed and come up with a better plan.God bless every singel person who lost their life spreading God word. What part of that states were the missionarys from? I hear some went to college..

      You should read the book. They had been to missionary school, some also studied tropical medicine, obstetrics and nursing. They were actually based in Ecuador jungle for five years and Nate Saint about 8 years before they tried to meet the Aucas. They spent time teaching the tribes the word of God and the women had a school for the children, the missionaries also administered medicine to the sick and delivered their babies. They decided to try to make contact with the aggressive tribe because they believed they also deserved a chance to hear of the love of Jesus. They counted the cost and knew that it was dangerous but they were still willing to go. They didn't go to meet on the first time they found but flew over their territory many times and exchanged gifts before moving nearby where they met a man who welcomed them. The rest of the tribe seemed to like them too when they flew over, they would wave and communicate a few words in their language and the people would respond. They knew the men of the tribe were coming to their site but they thought it was in a friendly way as the orevious man had come.

      As far as I know all of them went to college . Bible College and missionary school. One gave up his studies in law to follow God's calling. The only choice they had was to bring gifts. They were not stupid in any way. There were no indications the Aucas wanted to hurt them as they accepted their gifts and seemed happy. They went back several times with gifts. They were doing what God wanted. 2 years later Elisabeth went back to the Aucas with her 3 year old. She found out they had thought the men were going to eat them. She met the ones who killed Jim. She forgave them because they thought they were protecting themselves in ignorance. They did not hurt her nor her daughter, Valerie. It had nothing to do with intelligence or college. It had to do with obeying God no matter the consequences. We still have missionaries in dangerous places like China, Afghanistan, and Iran. Thank God for them and pray for them and their safety. Send money to help them in their needs. Heart cry Missionary Society is on youtube. They do not ask for donations but on very rare occasion. But it helps them any time you can send some help.

    She said that they dropped him gifts but what kind of people would send machetes and a ax as a gift do you think Jesus will send those type of gifts?

    • @EBB505
      @EBB505 3 роки тому +2

      I read the book, the machetes were very important for the tribes living in the jungle, they would use it to cut down reeds, bushes and thorns to make a path when they were walking and they would also protect themselves from snakes. The ax were also used for cutting bamboo to build beds,mats and cut down trees to make an area to live. It was a thoughtful gift to the people because it made their lives easier.
