@@shalotstageIt's almost like they had to come across a few huddles to get there or something. Kind of like most irl relationships. And didn't Kurt talk about sin and forgiveness earlier?
I know in his farewell speech that Professor X said that she had touched them all. Meaning she touched their hearts. But I don't think he ever understood that for Rogue, it wasn't enough. She wanted, needed the ability to touch someone safely. She has always been afraid of what her powers can do. But I get the feeling he never tried to help her with that. Counseling, maybe. But never trying to find a way to "cure" her physically. Never considering adapting those power-restraint collars into a bracelet, allowing her the chance to turn her powers off and on. Never trying some kind of medical procedure to address this problem. In that X-Men movie The Last Stand, Worthington Industries came up with a "cure" to suppress the X-gene permanently. Rogue, in that film, chose to take the cure because while she didn't see being a mutant as a disease, she saw unable to touch someone safe as a disease. And she wanted that more than anything. Even if it meant she would lose her mutant powers permanently. It that option had been available in this version of the X-Men, I can see Rogue taking it without hesitation. The others would say, "This isn't what they wanted" or "This isn't what they wanted for her," and she would say, "I know. But this is what I wanted."

On the birght side, they talked about this like rational human beings. Whereas in Star Wars: Rebels and Ahsoka, Ezra just jumped to conclusions that Sabine would never have romantic feelings for him, yet judging from her actions in Ahsoka, it would seem he might be dead wrong. Yet neitheir of them were willing to discuss these things. Gambit and Rogue talked about the problems of their relationships. Needless to say, neitheir were at fault. Rogue's powers prevent her from touching somebdoy without killing them, which Gambit understanding that's what this is about as considering how he got to know her, of course her powers would make things hard. Both want it each other and of course it would work out, but Rogue's powers get in the way. For Ezra and Sabine, they had little to no reason to stay apart and I hope they get together sometime in the Mandoverse.

@@falconeshield Yes I know! It's just that the only reason Rogue went to Magneto was cause her powers couldn't harm him when she touched him but it's really Gambit she's always loved and she could never touch him.
Calling her "Mon-Amie" instead of "Mon cher" hits harder than saying "just friends". I really hope when he comes back, if he comes back, it is like in the comics after he came back from being a herald of Apocalypse and regains the powers he put limiters on and can created basically a tiny energy field that lets him touch Rogue. Although seeing how they are handling things it will be a long long time till then. But even if not, I am just glad they shown Gambit a lot of love in the show.
I hated this storyline. Was it believable? Sure. But Gambit and Rogue are my favorite X-Men couple. To blow them up like this and then kill Gambit off. I was looking forward to this reboot to see more scenes of them and it just feels gross. That being said, Gambit handled this like a champ.
I never read the comics, but think I read somewhere that her and Magneto did have a fling, but it was in a different reality or something. I'm not still quite sure. But for this scene, I LOVE Rouge and Gambit together and was shocked how in this series they weren't together yet. But again, from what I understand it took them a long time in the comics to get together and it seems like this is what this series is going to do. Now for this scene, even though Gambit is willing to be with her and loves her, even though he can't physically touch her, you see first hand that for him it goes beyond physical touch. For Rogue, its obvious she loves him too, but I can understand that for someone with her power for not being able to express it by not being able to touch him, let alone kiss, its breaking her heart and she probably thinks down the line if they continued, he'll eventually be upset. Overall, I do think that in the end, it'll work out for them. Especially since the comics says otherwise.
There was a run after onslaught where a younger version of magneto emerged called Joseph, can't remember precisely what he was (a clone? a leftover from onslaught?). Anyway, he joined the xmen and created a love triangle with rogue and gambit, but that version was the same age as the rest of the xmen, not 60+ sugar daddy magneto we see here.
Rogue was the worst, she kissed Magneto to make him emotional in front of the man who loves her and then cries for her loss. The only thing that saddened me was seeing Gambit die, but it gave me some satisfaction seeing rogue cry.
Poor Rogue she was always lying to herself about Gambit. She enjoyed every minute of Gambit flirting and making her feel special even though he couldn’t physically touch her.
I always assumed that those things had lots of side effects since they were built to subgegate a whole species. Whoever designed them probably didn't care if they caused migraines or long term use causes cancer
True, but we don't know the long lasting effects, and what if it malfunctioned in the middle of an... intimate moment, or worse, they fall asleep together, it malfuctions, and she wakes up with a dead gambit next to her, she'd be a basket case.
Watching this back with the theory that apocalypse will revive Gambit, his Death persona will takeover and ideally taunt himself with these memories Remy will choose to repress, which I feel adds more fuel to this man’s pain…his redemption past that will be earned, so will Rogue’s but for now, we let the show advance its way and show us that eventually man
This is one of the main problems of the X Men, it is not about inclusion, nor is it about the means they use to communicate. The real problem is in the hypocrisy and double standards of its members, really for years the X Men dedicated themselves to accepting themselves as they are, that they forgot how to accept horrible people in their group. And yes, it's not just about how Rogue did this to Gambit, but even what she did to Captain Marvel and how she NEVER paid for it. All because Charles and the X Men hid and protected him, not letting Carol manage to put that aside, even causing her drinking problems.
Except in this cartoon it was an accident and Rogue was perfectly willing to let Carol beat the shit out of her for it, but Jean intervened both because it was an accident and Carol was killing herself in the process. And if we're going by comics none of Marvel's heroes have a leg to stand on when it comes to morality.
@@wolfman210 That does not rule out the point where we observe the trait of hypocrisy and double standards, for example, one can accept and understand the use of those errors in the case of Spiderman or even Iron Man, as they are characters full of defects. But it is very different when a group created with the purpose of accepting and generating criticism of abuses against minorities, reflects a high level of hypocrisy in defending criminals and genocides simply because they are part of their race or ideology. It reflects a construction more in line with a sectarian group or even an ultra-ideological political party which it would not be good to support due to obvious long-term problems, and that is reflected very clearly in the Krakoa era, where they were more terrorists than a country made and right.
@@yuanpucasn4955 Only if you're holding the X-Men to a different standard then the rest of the Marvel Universe. Frankly I find the Avengers turning NYC into ground zero whenever they have a slight disagreement with each other and Iron-Man, Mr Fantastic and Captain Marvel all willingly going full on fascist and suffering no consequences for it more offensive than the X-Men trying to rehabilitate mutant criminals which the Avengers have also done...repeatedly.
The problem with rogue in this if she actually mastered her powers like she eventually does in the comics. She still would do gambit dirty , she doesn’t really love magneto or gambit. She’s just more receptive to any guy that could touch or has a sad sob story.
This is contining from the 92 cartoon from a grown up perspective. So in this AU Gambit cannot touch Rogue without going comatose. For now, I mean? If Storm can get her powers back, then maybe it can be fixed or improved. There is going to be a S2 of this show for sure.
Maybe it would be demeaning for mutants, but couldn't Rogue temporarily wear one of those collars if she wanted to touch someone? I feel like Beast or Forge could have constructed something for her that gave her control if she really wanted to settle down with Gambit. Even Gambit somewhat makes a sacrifice with nerfing himself and is holding back his true potential from what I understand so that he can live a normal life without accidentally destroying everyone and everything he comes in contact with.
Okay, but imagine gambit didn’t die here and we had to see this awkward ass conversation with rogue afterwards where she has to explain that she chose him AFTER she purposely went with the most main character ass sensual, body to body grinding and FLYING dance in front of him and everyone else with a big fat show-stopping juicy kiss JUST TO TELL magneto that she chooses gambit.
People called me crazy when I said this should have been its own continuity in the lead-up to release. This is why. This would not be an issue if it was its own thing where Rogue and Remy aren't together yet.

The whole Rogue issue is plain stupid since the beginning, they have collars that can suppres your powers put one on and problem solved, maybe have Beast turn it into a bracelet that you can turn off and on.
Those collars have dangerous side effects after prolonged use. The 90s show never really showed this but both the comics and Wolverine and the X-Men did.

The entire point is the relationship is difficult because of Rogue's powers. Gambit persisting and trying to make it work regardless is a testament to his character.
Rogue has been upfront with Gambit about this both in the comics and original show.
Gambit knew he couldn’t touch Rogue and that never bothered him just shows Gambit’s love for her was stronger than how much Magneto could love her

1:10 I'll be damn, that's Bastion!

To quote Eric Cartman, "It's not fair, why would they break up? They were meant for each other!"

It wouldn't be so hard for Gambit & Rogue if she only had one of those power collars I saw her wear in a comic or something.

I really hope when he comes back, if he comes back, it is like in the comics after he came back from being a herald of Apocalypse and regains the powers he put limiters on and can created basically a tiny energy field that lets him touch Rogue.

Her names emma frost but she roasting fools 😂

It will most likely be Apocalypse who'll turn him into death
I could have sworn gambit was immune or semi-immune to her powers

In the comics he can cover himself with his energy and that allowed him to touch rogue

Gambit broke my heart when the tear went down his cheek
I've been there bro, being friendzoned by the woman you have feelings to is no fun experience to go through.
