Those OU DE’s were dominating the Tackles. We(Vols) have to get our linemen healthy asap. Great job to JH for calling the game the way he did to keep Nico safe
I love this series! So educational for someone who loves watching football, but never played.
Happy it helps!
@SnapsCFB_ Waiting for the Colorado/Baylor breakdown
Good to see Heupel take his time with Nico and to build his confidence while he's gaining experience...I really look forward in seeing what nico becomes throughout the season and into next year...Looks like this young man has a bright future ahead of him....🍊🔥
He should have been through this last year. Now we have a 2 year window with Nico before he goes to the league, and we have to spend this season with the training wheels on
Great videos, UT fan here, really impressed with OU’s defense. Much respect for the Sooners.
Respect
Solid defense! Nice win
Our WR's could not get separation. That has to be fixed by the time we go to AR. They have a good offense.
I appreciate ur reviews. People criticized tennessees offense but u could tell the strategy was conservative play. Jsut get the win and get out. No injuries. Look at Missouri to prove the point. Their injuries are going to knock them out of playoff chances. They almost lost to Vanderbilt
These breakdowns are fantastic. My new post game routine is waiting on the all 22 analysis. Keep it up.
Thanks! Will do!
Vol here. Followed and liked. Great breakdown from Mr Murray. Hats off
Thank you!
Heupel definitely protecting Nico. First true road game experience, the offensive line was struggling with protection and OU’s d-line was killing all night. There will be games that Heupel will have no choice but to take the training wheels off but given OU’s offensive struggles; this wasn’t it.
Heupel did a great job understanding that he had one tackle out and another hurt mid game. Protected the ball knowing the defense was not going to lose the game.
I look forward to your breakdown every week. Great vid!
I appreciate that!
Real proud of how far the Sooners defense has come. Hopefully the offense can figure things out and this team can be complete.
Love your film breakdown of the game. Thanks for the video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
These QB reviews are great, awesome channel 💯
Appreciate that!
I’m a Clemson fan and I watch these other teams just to learn dude. You rock Aaron!
Love that! Thank you
Heupel knew toward end of 1qtr that the OU off would be ineffective vs the TN def. Also TN was dealing with injuries at both OT positions, playing a 2nd and 3rd string player at both ends. Having that vs the OU front 7 could be a recipe for disaster (hence the two strip sacks). Once you hit the two score lead and with the tn def shutting down OU off, there was no need to put your freshman qb in any compromising situations. Just my $.02
No team is safe with a two score lead against a Top 15 team. OU is not Kent State.
@@modernprofessionals9512turns out...they were in fact safe 😂
@@modernprofessionals9512Oklahoma had 98 total yds going into the 4th qtr. I think Tennessee was pretty safe.
@@modernprofessionals9512OU didn’t get in the end zone until the 4th qtr. Tn was fine
@@modernprofessionals9512 if their offense isn't moving the ball that's a safe lead. You can play to run the clock as l9ng as they don't score.
Love your great effort, good stuff you put out. Thanks your channel will grow so fast, keep it up. GBO!
That pass to Thornton was absolutely ridiculous.
This game shows how much Heupel has evolved as a head coach. It's completely against his nature as a play caller to be so conservative, but he slowed the offense down and shortened the game by running the ball. This team can beat you so many different ways..Nico will be so much better a month from now.
Glad you can make the videos again!
Tennessee was not the only elite defense on the field. GBO.
The field was terrible... was it on purpose, hoping to slow down the rushing attack
That field should be condemmed. No wonder OU has injuries all over the place...jeez
Oklahoma uses goats to mow the field. The field conditions were terrible. I'm shocked Miss St field is better. But Miss St uses lawnmowers instead of animals..
@@WarriorMech-04TnVF i was shocked how bad it was. Some of the fans are like "we like it like that!"
So you enjoy seeing ppl get injured? Mainly your own team?! 😂😂
He's got to protect the ball better. 4 TO's in two FBS games is too many. We were very lucky to come out of there with a win. if they had converted those fumbles it would have been a different score.
I keep seeing some of the players saying that Oaklahoma let the grass grow tall to slow down the Tenn Offense
Yeah so... it's the oldest trick in the book. Better bring your spikes, I saw a lot of Tennessee players in turf style cleats hahaha. Failure on Tennessee's equipment staff
Oklahoma played a great defensive scheme but I think there was plenty there if Nico ran more. Also, the safeties were constantly selling out to the backfield. More play action deep passes would have blown the top off this game.
Still, can’t blame hype for pulling back on the reigns and just taking the W
Heupel played it close to the vest when he got the early lead, he knew OK couldn’t get to 20 and the only way they beat UT was to get turnovers and cheap scores. Injuries on O line and inept sooner offense made it a super conservative game plan which wast correct decision!
I have to applaud that OU defense. I was sure that in the second half they would break, get demoralized by their lack of offense and get tired. But jesus, they never let up and were flying to the ball all night. You can tell that Venebles spent months getting ready for this game, because that defense was dialed in on what Tennessee does.
Then you turned off the PlayStation
The one area that takes longest to develop, and where we have the least depth is on OL. With both our starting tackles out there is a big drop-off so I think that played into Nico feeling he had to make quick decisions, and it was definitely the reason UT played very conservatively on offense. We felt like the only way OK could win once we were up was if we turned the ball over, and after some blown blocks we changed up our approach.
Sooners defense was so good.
Getting them subs fast!! Congrats! I enjoy the videos!!!
Glad you like them!
Love the detailed breakdowns and understand this is mostly analysis of the passing game, but have a look - whenever Nico hands the ball off, his eyes follow the runner. Surely that can't be by design. A good linebacker or DB is going to pick up on that immediately. Seems like an easy fix to an already scary good offense. Go Big Orange!
I'm my opinion, you are the best Georgia QB
No fr. He is
Thank you!
Everyone’s been telling Nico to throw the rpo.. he throws it? RUN IT
NICO😂
Steve Spurrier said it best if they play up throw long, if they play back throw it short.
I think Heup was trusting his defense to win this game so the play calling was super conservative in the second half. Plus the field was super wet for some reason. Nice vid!
Both Tennessee starting offensive tackles were out. We were playing 3rd string at left tackle. It affected the play calling.
I don't think it was wet, it was sand. You could see the sand during their last game. They must have painted it for this game. As you said, Heup knew OU couldn't score enough unless UT turned it over. He has grown alot as a coach. Hopefully Nico gets better at recognizing defenses before Alabama.
OU fan, the field was a disgrace
We have to get the Tackle position straightened out if we have a prayer of staying with your bulldogs! Bama too.
Great stuff Aaron
Thank you!
Love the content’ keep up the great work
Appreciate it!
Great video man!
Glad you liked it!
excellent stuff man!
Appreciate it!
Nico played near perfect all things considered. Couple of times when he ran he stopped short of the first down which cost the drive to stall.
Agreed. For his first big start in a difficult environment I was impressed
I think coach call the plays like this to show that his offense isn’t a gimmick he knew his former boss was in the building and watching
Has literally nothing to do with it.... he went to it because he knew his defense was playing lights out and the only way to lose this game was to keep throwing down field, plus having 2/3 offensive lineman out didn't help us any so he made adjustments and changed the type of game in the second half.
Can we get a breakdown of Cam Ward vs USF?
His OL did him absolutely no favors.
Literally every team seems to play max pro against us and we can’t get past it
2 starting tackles were out . That’s a huge part of it obviously
We do need to trust our recievers a Lil more to just throw it up and let em get those contested catches
Does OU have an HOA that requires grass be a certain height?
Aaron, thought Heupel gave a master class in holding onto a win while also protecting his phenomenal freshman QB. Not sure why so many Tennessee fans were upset about it.
I loved every minute of it! Big win
The Tennessee fanbase is pretty dumb. Heupel coached a great game. Couldn't hold up in pass pro without starting tackles
On that last one if Squirrel would not have jumped that would have been six.
Apearently the green grass is all they could feel lol
OK needs to use some of that new SEC money to improve their cow pasture of a football field
We all know Heup throttled WAY down. Seeing the emotion after the game, I kinda think he didn't wanna smoke em. I can't believe I'm saying it but my gut feels it. I get it. I couldn't crush the Vols given the opportunity. Good work Murr. Where's the T offensive line vid?
Uh Tennessee tackles couldn’t block the OU DEs. Maybe that’s why he “throttled way down”.
Nah he was protecting Nico. Tennessee got something special in that kid and there was no reason to throw him into the teeth of the defense once he had the lead. Brilliant coaching.
I think not asking Nico to do a lot, which I see more as asking him to do just enough, comes from many different places.
1) 1st SEC road start for Nico. Just enough makes sense.
2) Terrible field. Do enough to win. Doing more could get you hurt.
3) You know Oklahoma isn't the best you're going to face (Arkansas and Florida may see conservative games too), so you don't put everything you have on film for Alabama and Georgia to prepare for.
4) Oklahoma can't score if you don't give them the ball. Do enough, then run the clock.
If anyone thinks Tennesse didn't back off in a big way, I have a challenge for you. Find the last time Tennessee lead time of possession by over 10 minutes. Hint: It's pre-pandemic.
Why did Tennessee protect Nico against Oklahoma???? because its their job. grammar jokes aside love the videos.
Titles not my specialty! Glad you like the shows
great!
Only two TDs against the Oklahoma defense I'd say Oklahoma defense did a great job, no help from the offense till the forth quarter. The true freshman had to come in and make a game out of it.
Do our new quaterback next mike hawkins jr
Had to bc dayne Davis couldn’t even get a hand on the defenders. I’ve never seen such a poor performance by a lineman that has 5 years college experience.
I’m from Elizabethton TN, Dayne Davis is from right up the road at Sullivan county. He seems like a good guy, & I know he’s worked hard but you are 100% correct. I couldn’t believe it when I saw he walked on at Tennessee, he’s not a D1 football player. I cannot believe he is still on the team years later. I’m sure he’s a great guy and deserves the opportunity but he isn’t in the same stratosphere athletically as these other kids.
@@ericwilson9419 that young man should be dominating at tusculum or carson newman
Question could've been asked a little different...
You ALWAYS try to protect your QB....
Field was Sh!t too...easy way to get hurt and 2 off tackles were out
Bring the proper cleats next time... Tennessee receivers were wearing turf shoes and not spikes. Fire your equipment manager
If she don’t Ha ‘yak-a yeeee! You dont wanna Talk twoher 😂
You never said why they protected him.
Always a great job, Aaron, even if you are a bulldog. Heuple revised the game plan based on the field conditions, which Herbstreit addressed. Sloppy and bushy field. Un mowed, sanded, and wet. Nuts. It backfired on Okie though, as they lost a good player FTS, with a dislocated ankle. Karma.........
The field was trash. No sense in getting Nico injured.
UT had the starting right and left tackles injured, playing backups most of this game.
Nico throws a nice ball, he will have a great season as he and the receivers synch together.
OK has a very good defense, lot of kneeing, stomping and kicking UT players on the ground…dirty coaching along with fake injuries.
Nico and his offense scored 6 points in the second half. No explosives at all
@@edwinjones-z5x Enough…
We had our 2nd string walk on at left tackle, then later in the game we had that same 2nd string walk on flip to right tackle, and our 3rd string left tackle in the game. Hard to run it or throw it when they can’t get a hat on a hat.
Two things ...we found out that Heupel protected Nico while losing two offensive linemen. Oklahoma was really good on defense. Safety's played close the entire game almost like linebackers and dared Tennessee to run. They also wanted and did for the most part take the middle of the field off the plate for Nico. He burned them twice but for the most part over the middle wasnt an option. You could tell after Tennessee got the lead they barely passed the ball. Huepel was all about the clock and protection. He pretty much did the same thing against Florida in 2022 which almost got them beat. I think Tennessee left 2 scores on the field and Oklahoma probably left a score on the field.
We have us an amazing team and coach heupal called more runs after John Campbell went down they were getting to nico alot eaiser after that an he didn't want to risk any more turnovers
Oh Idk Aaron maybe it had something to do with us not having either tackle at one point and the field being greased despite it not raining all week in Norman. How'd I do?
Tenn slowed it down to win the game...
Tennessee just chose to not go deep tonight. Was very surprised by the play calling. I would have liked for them to take A LOT more deep shots especially when the run game was generally not productive.
ZeroU losing is always great! Thanks Tennessee!!!
By running the ball. Tenn took the air out of the ball because OUs oline and offense is so incompetent OUs Def dominated Tenn def other than 2 big pass plays where the wr just beat his man which will happen given Tenn is a talented team
Conservative or bad play calls?
Good play calls.
@@michaelbardis Yup! Only one? The QB Option.....😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Coach played it just right.
Love your replays. Nico is so new to SEC level defenses, he missed a few choices and chances. But that will improve quickly too. I wish he could stay for next year and provide experience to his replacement. The one-year-and-done thing is ruining college ball for me.
What kind of level are the scc have that are you talking about!!! Nothing new to my eyes, they all look the same as others . Trash talk..
Yeah I get OU has a good defense but TN was on pace for almost 40 at halftime but then the coaches went conservative in the second half. The game looked over and the injuries on the O-oline was hurting our protection. The scoreboard doesn’t tell the whole story, TN controlled the game from the 2nd qrt. on.
First one is really bad.
That long TD pass was not that spectacular. The safety took himself out of the play and Nico didn’t have to layer it. Give a big QB the chance to throw bullets on line deep over the middle and they should make that throw 90% of the time.
Coach didn’t want to embarrass OK where went to school, played ball and coached!
Is this the same Aaron that said Oklahoma should be excited about Arnold Jackson ? Hmmmm… going through the tape is always 2020 pal . Every team has that 🙄
TN fan here, not even a minute into you presentation and I'm going to have to disagree with you. Nico passed for 20+ times, ran for 50+ times... He wasn't protected, TN was simply surviving... You might want to reevaluate your channel.
Heupel definitely started protecting him and the lead throughout the 2nd half once they had a 3 possession lead. Very conservative Play-calling down the stretch. It’s not a negative against Tennessee, it’s honestly smart by Heupel. It’s a long season
GBO 🍊
Nico could have ran the ball several times for a TD or huge gain but he didn’t; probably because they were already up. It was smart that he didn’t. Stay healthy and save it for playoffs.
