So glad you're back! I'm finally catching up with my UA-cam backlog of videos to watch :) I love non fiction and the books you talked about sound so interesting, especially the Roe one and the one from Cecé Telfer. Arghhh, so many books to read, so little time! Best of luck with your training program, looking forward to see how that goes.
Oh wow, your intro is my life! I also had bloodwork done just over a month ago because I was feeling blah. Low iron, elevated cholesterol and blood sugar and I've gained some stubborn weight that doesn't want to go away. My naturopath recommended the MIND diet (it's a blend of Mediterranean and Dash) and I'm trying to make cardio and strength training a priority. Also, great book recs! I'm on the verge of diving into House of Leaves because I'm insane and I have several nonfiction on the go too.
@@FrallaKnits stay tuned as I want to do a video about all the things I’m reading about menopause and perimenopause as I think my things are related to that!!!
@@TheUnhingedWomanBookClub yes!!! That’s why I ended up at the Naturopath’s in the first place, I figured I was in the transition to menopause. I can’t wait to hear about your book recommendations on that topic!
Yeah yeah you’re back!! 🥳 Did you ever do the big read of Marie Antoinette that you mentioned in one of your older videos? I loved the way you annotated the Napoleon biography!
Whether here or a separate channel, I love the idea of a Fitness Friday as well as hearing more about your triathlon training and health journey. I found your channel because of books, but always enjoy learning more about the reader and what interests them off the page. 😊
Welcome back Lisa!!!!🦇🦇🦇🐿🦔🪶🍁🍂🫖🍵🥧🕯📓🖋📚I love that you share different books. I have read these books to get out of a reading slump "The ghost and Mrs Muir" by R:A Dick(pseudonym for Josephine Aimee Campbell Leslie, a lovely movie as well from 1947 with Rex Harrison). "Briefly a delicious life" by Nell Stevens. "A prayer for Owen Meany" by John Irving, funny and sad. "Good omens" by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. "A discovery of witches" by Deborah Harkness."Days at the Morisaki Bookshop" by Satoshi Yagisawa. Sending you warm hugs your way🫂💖
🌻Sounds like peri menopause. Check out these books if you can, The New Menopause and Estrogen Matters. I can't remember if it was this amazing book club channel (you) that talked about the book, Eve by Cat Bohannon??? I have White Rural Rage The threat to American Democracy by Tom Schaller and Paul Waldman on the reading list... Def will be adding a few of these books to the pile... especially, The Fall of Roe. Thanks!
Well, that's odd - I rewatched your Napoleon biog videos yesterday having picked up a copy from my three-for-a-pound charity shop. I do love annotating etc books but usually feel too guilty to 'ruin' them but at that price I'll let rip.... Good to see you back!
I had very low Vit D a few years ago and until the doctor diagnosed it I was constantly sick and exhausted and thought I may have osteoarthritis as my hip pain was awful! So debilitating - wish you well. Thanks for these recommendations - they all sound fascinating.
Great to see you back. Life is hard but great that you’ve got your mojo back. I can testify that Ironmans are not easy, hubby has done 4 now and I’m just crew at this point but the training, traveling, planning it takes a lot.
How great!! There are lots of great videos on UA-cam about how to get started - and how the main thing is injury prevention because it is one of the main things that keeps runners from running & training. I was completely new to the sport of triathlon about 2 1/2 years ago and watched a lot of videos by GTN (Global Triathlon Network) and Triathlon Taren, right down to tackling the swim. Keep me posted if you go for it!
I'm so glad to see you back. Our US politics are nuts, but you have some great books with some very good authors. Andrew Weisman is a very practiced lawyer and also a contributor on MSNBC and CNN (I believe). I feel like I know too much about Donald Trump already. I don't want to pick up the book about him, but the one on his indictments will be interesting (especially if he is NOT elected; if he is elected, he will more than likely pardon himself from everything that he can). I looked through my list of books that I have read; I don't have many non-fics to recommend. lol Sorry.
I have read a couple of books about Trump and I honestly can't read anymore but the Haberman book would interest me. A good one that I read some time ago is American Oligarchs: The Kushners, the Trumps, and the Marriage of Money and Power by Andrea Bernstein. I found it well-researched and logically written and pretty disgusting. I have an informal project to read biographies of all the U.S. presidents. I think I currently have read about 15 (not in order) and just finished John Adams by David McCullough. There is some talk of Napoleon which reminded me of your reading of Napoleon. I don't want to commit to a big book like you did, but I think I would like to learn more about Napoleon at some point. I have lots of tabs and underlines in John Adams, but I wish I had thought to do the end of chapter summaries like you do with your large books. In my presidential reading, I often see parallels with current times. I also read Heather Cox Richardson's daily letters (widely available) and she also has a newish book, Democracy Awakening, which I would recommend if you have interest.
It's so good to see you, and what a book list! I love your selection, especially the political ones🤭 I bought The Fall of Roe instantly, really. I remember following the news back then, and I'm surprised there's already a book about it.
Lisa check out dr Mary Claire have who is a gynecologist who focuses her practice on perimenopause and menopause…. She has great tips. All your symptoms are well explained by her and what you can do --like sleep matters, stress management exercise especially weight training. In any case I have made adjustments including supplementation and I’ve felt so much better. Best of luck to ya and I’m so happy you’re back
Update: I've been watching her videos and will order her books. So much information and I agree that most (if not all) of my symptoms are related to perimenopause.
Actually, everyone in the world has skin in the American political game. As the world’s most powerful country, our president will determine how climate change is managed - or not. There isn’t anything more important than that.
I have so missed you. And Napolean's broads.😂😂😂 OK. Not PC or kind. I just wanted to be the first one to call 'em that. Say I'm the first! Well, in my own mind.😆
Hi Lisa! So good to see you! Although I am a Canadian, I am also intrigued by American politics and watch CNN always. Thanks for the book recs and I will check out the podcast! Take care. Glad you’re feeling better!
So glad to see you back. I will be checking on that Trump book, especially if my library has it. I know he is super polarizing, but he and Elon Musk are right now, I think, the two most fascinating men in America. Whatever your opinion, they drive the conversation about the direction of this country, for sure. And yes to showing your training, I think would be very interesting.
