I enjoy when people pause and comment on part of the song. What I dislike is when other people push play without rewinding it back an appropriate distance. :)
Don't feel bad about stopping it helps with understanding what is happening. If you really feel bad about the pauses or feel they are distracting there may be other options. There are a few reactors where they watch through twice one reaction and a second with pauses to discuss analysis. Personally I like the pauses but I know there are others who don't appreciate them. As the say, "U do U boo!"
This was arranged by Eli...mirrors were Geoff's idea. Why would anyone give you hate comments for stopping - you are doing a reaction which requires it by definition. The transition at the end is masterful.
Loved your reaction Jeffrey!! This one was absolutely a masterpiece. And it's interesting to try a call out a favorite part when it's everything from Eli's arrangement, the lighting, Cesar's mirror, all of their individual and collective singing tone and skills, and the passion they put into the performance. If you take away any one component, then it's not the masterpiece we just heard!! They somehow figure out how to hook you in the first 5 seconds and then keep changing it around to keep you engaged throughout EVERY SINGLE TIME. JMHO.
Great reaction. This is a definite tear-jerker. Eli is the one who arranged this one. He also did the lighting and directed the video. You can sense how the lighting seams to meld with the arrangement. Cesar’s vulnerability just kills me in this one.
Don’t worry about the pauses. You aren’t one who just makes faces - you add commentary which is instructive which is appreciated. Also appreciated is that you rewind so the continuity doesn’t suffer.
Something no one seems to catch. The camera work in the transition back to Cesar at the end for "Whatever makes you happy/Whatever you want..." Cesar is positioned in such a way that he is looking AT THE VIEWER. He's talking to us, saying we are special and worthy ("You're so very special"..), while battling his own internal demons, as the rest of Voiceplay are. What a moment.
@@JeffreyHackReactsAnd that transaction is one seamless shot. The camera zoomed in on Cesar and the rest of them scattered while Layne rolled the Mirror back into place.
They can make you cry with one song, then turn around and have you falling out of your chair during the next one. This one caught all the feels and Eli did an amazing job. The next release is pure VoicePlay comedy with a guest from their early days.
You're right, it does sound different - Eli arranged. It's a whole different feel than either Layne or Geoff at the same time that it's recognizably VP. I love it! Loved your reaction, thanks!
I know what you mean with having to say it straight away, my dauguter has adhd and if someone interyots her she forgets her train of thought and gets so frustrated. Love this cover. Love it so much that i cant watch it too many times as it gets me.
That spot where you remarked on the transition would surprise you if you saw it filmed. It was one continuous shot from the group to Cesar solo in front of the mirror. I don’t mind you stopping to comment. Most good reactors do. And I always enjoy your reactions. I hope we don’t have to wait three weeks for your reaction to the new video they’re releasing this week. It’s hilarious!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I'm starting realize what really specific niche my channel has been pursuing as I've been experimenting with different reactions. So, hopefully, it shouldn't be too long for my reaction when VoicePlay releases another music video.
I am very old, never heard of the song, only heard of Radiohead because Geoff did a solo version of their High and Dry. Didn't matter, Voiceplay is the best and did an amazing job on this one. Eli's arrangement was spot on, he used everyone's talent wonderfully well. My favorite "bit" in this piece was the "run, run run" when the lights emphasized each word and Eli was "directing" the lights to change. The last (only) full arrangement that Eli did for Voiceplay was three years ago, right after Earl Elkins left after 23 years. He had arranged Eleanor Rigby for five voices, but then didn't have Earl. He didnt' rearrange the piece for four voices,or bring in a collaborator. He wanted to show that Voiceplay was missing a member but would go one and continue to create. So he ended up singing both tenor parts. It's beautiful. I hope we don't have to wait three years for another Eli arrangement! Great reaction, as always!!
Yes! Yes! I'm totally happy with Geoff's arrangements, and Layne's are so inventive, and everything any of them ever does is gold, . . . BUT. From my very first exposure to VP, it was Eli who caught my eye and ear, and I appreciate him more and more every time. Fast forward to this cover, which I didn't even want to watch because there have been SO many "Creep" covers and I was afraid this one would have nothing new to offer me. I was wrong, of course--sat frozen in throat-constricted awe in a way I hadn't done since I heard Brian Justin Crum's cover--and nothing could have completed my joy like finding out it was Eli's arrangement. The cherry at the very top of the sundae was Eli's "directing" the lights. I always watch his hands, but this is the first time I giggled while the tears flowed. Eli is amazing.
This so phenomenally fantastic!! These guys can do anything and turn it into gold. Had to grab me a box of tissues for this one. Cesar killed it with his emotions and I feel he deserves a hug, Eli did amazing with this arrangement. I have no words. I mean They all put so many emotions into this song. I was crying through most of it, and I have cried everytime I watch it. It is already on my playlist! Great reaction!!
I'm surprised that you -- and quite a few others -- found the ending "relaxed." Certainly is was slower and at lower volume than the previous hi-energy section. To me, though, "relaxation" is a warm, comfortable feeling, which I could not feel when the emotion being expressed was so painful and sad. I guess "melancholy" would be a better work for MY reaction to the end section.
I love how the mirror reflecting their images of themselves. So gorgeous, wistful and heartrending. Eli was all over this arrangement like white on rice and did the video and lighting.. Don't worry about talking, that's why I listen to you. I want your comments. VoicePlay was the first time I'd heard this song and needed to hear the original. I'll take this version any day of the week - just perfection.
BTW regarding Cesar's hairstyle. Dreadlocks are hanging sections of long hair, each of which is matted together so it's nearly impossible to comb out. They're generally worn all over the head. The style Cesar had here, with the hair parted into geometrically-arranged sections and braided flat along the scalp, was originally called "corn rows" as they resemble crops planted in neat rows. I think they look GREAT on him, even though I kinda enjoy some of his more outrageous hairstyles.
I couldn't pick one moment in this as a favorite, the whole thing is just so good, it really touches the heart. I hadn't heard this before this cover and when it hit patreon I cried for a week. I had to limit myself on how much I watched it. I can now watch it on loop and sign along with it. It's a great song to sing. I don't mind the pauses at all, it's what I'm here for. Hearing YOUR reaction to this cover. Please, by all means, pause!
A very good and interesting reaction Heff. It gave me pleasure. All of them killing it, but Cesar and Anthony outstanding Eloge to Eli for the arrangement, lighting etc. His last arrangement of Eleanor Rigby was very good too. We need to see more of Elis arrangements.
Cesar has a talent for catching your emotions. Anthony is equally adept in hooking you into the song and dragging you along. Eli knows what he is doing in this arrangement, using each artist to great advantage.
The whole thing is stupendous but it's when Anthony starts to sing it kills me. Tears happen. So much heartache in his voice. And as others have said, this one was Eli's vision. I think thisone appeals to so many people as many people feel the same way. I believe Eli ha's helped out with soe short ones but Iknow El's work from Eleanor Rigby which is also amazing and very different. By the wat Cesar;s hairstyle is called cornrows, rather than dreads.
One of my reasons for watching reactions, other than enjoying the occasional gotcha moment, is learning from the reactors. You catch things that I haven't noticed, and you point them out, and next time when I listen to the song I will hear them better because you pointed them out. And that's why I watch you. So thank you!
Please DO pause and tell your thoughts - but in this masterpiece it's hard to break the flow, I understand that. Reaction very well done - and I've watched "a few"!🎉😂❤
@@JeffreyHackReacts I agree with @karinwolf9639. I watch reaction videos because I WANT to know what other people think! Pause away. I've already watched the original, official video dozens of times, plus another couple dozen reaction videos, so I know what I'm getting. I wouldn't have subscribed to your channel if I didn't love the way you work.
You right it s so frustrating when you pose in the middle of built or just before eli hight note !!! 😬😬 Voiceplay release a new cover tomorrow Please don t wait 3 weeks before you do a reaction !!!
A reaction video is SUPPOSED to have pauses. You need to be able to react, and to comment on what catches your attention. I actually am starting to get mildly exasperated by reactors who apologize for this. I've watched around 20 reactions to this video now, give or take a few. Each of you has something to say that interests me, and sometimes makes me notice things I wasn't consciously aware of when watching the original video. Commenters also offer stuff I find intriguing, often enough, so I read most of them. My only complaint about pausers is when they just hit "play" again after speaking. I find that backing up a few seconds really makes a difference, because yes, pausing interrupts the flow of the video, and if you just pick up again from where you left off, that break can be devastating sometimes to your perception. There's a few reactors that really make me grit my teeth, when they either pause at a critical moment, or worse, close their eyes (carried away by the music) and thereby miss an important visual. tl; dr: Pause when the need strikes you. 😁
Thanks for your feedback on this. I was mainly apologizing because in the past a lot of Queen fans have complained about my pauses and need for commendation. I appreciate the fact that you understand the need for pausing and commenting on something mid video.
Don't apologize for pausing or feel the need to explain it. It's a handful of people who just don't get what a reaction is about. If they don't want pausing, they need to watch the original.
What was your favorite moment in this music video?
The “soul” that was like soSOohOllll. Most reactors have missed it. I think it’s the most amazing thing I’ve heard from them.
I'm usually a Caesar fan, but Eli belting out that high note for 'doOOOoooooor' when all the lights are on is the part we replay the most around here.
The part that started at 0:00 and went until I smashed the replay button.
@@KharaChmiel 😁👍 That’s my fave part of all their songs, lol
@@KharaChmiel Thank you. That part exactly. 🙂

This was Eli's third attempt at arranging, and he KILLED it.
Yes he did! Amazing job!

The pure genius who arranged this is Eli!!
Magnificent!
When I first watched this, it made me sad and lifted me up at the same time.
Haha. Right? Interesting how they were able to bring those emotions out. Almost like a feeling of resilience and defeat at the same time.
