It worked on my local small pond! 10 minutes of fishing and a nice rainbow took it. Thanks

I have supplies to tie this worm. Your video has renewed my interest. I plan to use it for Yellow Perch through the ice. Last year after cleaning my perch, I found the bottom of the bucket to be covered with fat red bloodworms. I'm picturing this a a red bloodworm cluster that should entice the perch like they hit the "motherlode" of bloodworms. The easy meal. Thanks!

      Hi Mike,
Thanks for taking the time to post your comment. I am pleased to hear that my video has inspired you to get behind the vise once again. This pattern was originally designed as a bloodworm pattern, but it also fishes well when retrieved at pace.
Any fish that likes bloodworms in its diet should love this pattern.
      Cheers, Phil

I tie this with lead wrapped on the hook to get it a little heavy but not too heavy. Great content, thanks!!

You certainly could. I used a bead head version on a jig hook in Argentina with great results. With this version I leave it unweighted and let my fly line get the fly down.
      Cheers, Phil.

have you subbed the superglue with sally hansen's hard as nails?

    • @PhilRowleyFlyFishing
      @PhilRowleyFlyFishing  Рік тому +1

You could. The originator of this pattern, Peter Appleby, used superglue as he felt other coatings changed the body colour. I was following the recommendations of the original tyer.

It’s a deadly pattern, caught so many fish on this and the amber and olive versions.

Looks great. I was preparing to tie some squirmy worms. I’m going to try and get some sexi floss and tie these. I’ve caught some nice trout in northern Wyoming with worm flies .

Yes, I have seen this pattern when exchanging some chironomid patterns with a swiss fellow on the water this season. He laughed when I asked what the heck those dangly looking spider things are in his box. I did notice he had some in hot orange & chartreuse as well that he "experimenting with" he claimed. Then the guy trolling a red spratley seemed to be into fish. I dont even own a red spratley, but I will tie up a few of these Dangly Looking Spidery things..... the "Apps Worms"

Thanks, there are lots of color options to consider with this pattern. It's always a good idea to have a few in your box as something different to try when the exact match the hatch stuff isn't performing.

Hi Phil. Thanks for sharing! If I can ask, whom do you obtain your glo-brute through? I have tried finding it unsuccessfully. Also, you tied another pattern using fluorescent white glo-brite floss and I’m unable to find that either. If you could share the supplier so I can obtain both! Thank you very much Phil!

Glad you enjoyed the video. If you check out the description of the video you will see I have placed links to where you can find all of the materials. There is a link to Glo Brite Floss there. I do this for every fly I post.

I might have to give it another try. I tied a few up a couple years ago and have yet to catch a fish on one.

How were you fishing it? I have had my best success using brisk 4-6 inch strips with a pause. I did really well with a bead head version in Argentina. I will be also be featuring that version too.
      Cheers, Phil.

@@PhilRowleyFlyFishing Hey Phil. I tried faster strips and then also hand over hand. I'm sure I tried a slow retrieve to a couple of times but I never got a hit on it and kind of figured it was more of a "Stocker" fly. I'm going to give them another try this spring.

@@timkern177 Like any fly they work sometimes and not others. I have caught trout in Alberta, BC and Quebec in this colour scheme, red and amber. As with all attractors they do work well on stocked fish but I have caught some pretty large fish too.
