Slush Jelly Blob | Trout Candy!

- A favourite attractor fly of mine when trout are feeding on zooplankton. You can suspend this pattern beneath a strike indicator when trout are suspended in deep water. Or fish it aggressively using a brisk 4-6-inch strip pause retrieve using a sinking line. This pattern can also be used to attract or draw fish into other, perhaps more natural, patterns when using multiple flies.

Thanks. Will help me immensely.
Nice craftsmanship Phill :)
Noel Gooding Thanks Noel.
Very nice tie... looks like something I could handle!
The Fishing Doctors Adventures Yes, easy to tie and they work great. Pretty good combination.
@@PhilRowleyFlyFishing That's right up my alley... easy and effective. Kind of like the crazy looking coho jigs I tie!
Amazing fly Phil incredible work from the professional him self great job tight line man
Thanks Phil, the bead allows fishing under an indicator which I used with a chironomid dropper. I fished this combo for stockers in a Colorado lake near me and they went crazy for it. I feel little guilty using it so I told myself I'll only use it when they're off the feed. :)
Thanks Steve, I am pleased to hear of your success. Yes, there are times when this fly is almost too effective.
Cheers, Phil
Nice tie phil
Thank you Phil. We have great success with Bob Flies here in Alaska thanks.
Thanks Phil! Jim
Great name for a fly
Barney Ewing Thanks Barney
With the color, shape, and translucency it would make an excellent egg pattern which we fish here in the PNW. The salmon are starting to spawn and the steelhead stack up below the beds gorging themselves. Though using a different material, this fly is nearly identical to one I tie and fish. I will have to find some Slush Jelly and give it go. Thanks.
Steve Yes it should Steve. Che k out the product links in the description below the video for where you can find Slush Jelly.
Love it, simple and effective. Your tying area looks like a store I go to
@@johnkindell7000 Thanks John, I hope the store you go to is a bit neater than my tying desk currently. It is in need of a major cleanup. :)
Cheers, Phil
@@PhilRowleyFlyFishing organized chaos can create the best of flies. Thank you so much for sharing and all that you do for fly fishing and tying
Hi Phil
Great fly just wondering were can someone get the body material
Or what could you use instead
Hi.
I get my Slush Jelly and other Fritz products from Canadian Llama. If you check the description section below my video you will see a link to there site and Slush Jelly in particular.
Cheers, Phil
Some say Phil doesn't own a tv. There is no room from all the tying material.
knurri There is always space for a TV. Have to keep up with my favourite teams. 👍😀
What color would imitate zooplankton in Montanas Hebgen lake and Idahos Henry's lake?
Hi Connie, great question.
It all depends on the various species. Most zooplankton I have seen are shades of orange, pink, red, and green. Washed-out colors often work well and then there are days that vivid fluorescent colors perform. I have a good cross-section of colors in my box.
Cheers, Phil
Do you vary the bead color at all? Copper? Chartruse?
Hi Reed, yes you can vary both the body and bead colors all you want. I have used fluorescent pink, chartreuse, and hot orange beads, all with good results.
Cheers, Phil
The material looks similar to Eggstasy - I wonder if it might work for this pattern? Anyone tired it?
Hi Gary, Eggstasy is very similar I believe to Slush Jelly. They would all work well.
Cheers, Phil
@@PhilRowleyFlyFishing Thanks Phil - I appreciate it.
I bet this is gonna work in many lakes right now.
ERIC LIN Yes, it works well through the year.
