Good stuff, Jack The Lad. I've noticed a couple of people whine about the height of the sockets. Yeah, they're technically correct with them being below 450mm (blah blah), but what they should realize is you can't raise one without breaking zoning regs. There's also the fact that you don't need to follow the 18th edition regs because it's not a new installation. You have to follow the regs that were in force at the time of the installation, so being that low would still be within code 😅
Jesus someone’s been revising 😂😂 yeah basically unless it’s a new build the heights don’t matter, we do tend to stick to the heights for rewires tho but like you say without smashing every wall up there’s no point highering one
@@JRCElectrical Haha, I told you I know my stuff 🤣 in all seriousness, though I did read and re-read the 18th edition before I rewired my old house, so I know it pretty well, lol. IMO, practicality trumps the regs sometimes anyway. It doesn't matter what they say. It's not always practical in the real world, lol. Oh BTW I need to grab a quote for my sister. Mind if I text you?
great video, back in my day we used to sweep all the dust under the floors then fix boards with 1 1/2 inch ( in old money ) screws , i've heard mm are now used.
Excellent Jack, you're absolutely right about the on site knowledge, when i was doing my apprenticeship as a mechanic I didn't like the day release side of it as I felt I learned more on the tools but it is an essential part of the job to get your qualifications, another great informative video and a really tidy job,big up big pal 👌👏👏
You're technically right, they should be 450mm above the floor. That said, they would've been within regs when the original installation was completed. As this is an addition, not a complete rewire, Jack has to use the regulations which were in force when the original installation went in, so it's still within regulations. There's also the issue of zoning. Because he's installing another socket in line with the other sockets he has to keep within the zone. The zone would be horizontal to other sockets, so they'd need to be in line with the existing ones 😊
I think all certs to be issued you would need to be registered but I no you can just fill a cert out 🤷♀️ not sure what you would put for registration numbers and things tho

@@TheCod3r I think that you mean part M of the building regs rather than 18th regarding the socket heights.

I’ve noticed that the earthsure 2.5 is definitely thicker. Struggle to get clips on
I’ve not noticed much difference at all, not used normal clips on it tho to be fair always the Milwaukee clips which are huge anyway
I see you’ve got your safety crocs on
As always sir
Untill I lose a toe
@@JRCElectrical what are you going to do when you loose one
@@mattparker7068 no idea I’m hoping it never happens to be fair

Why didn’t you move that socket up mate? It’s touching the skirting board lol
That would mean moving the rest in the house up 😂 I just matched the new one to it, it’s not as close as it looks 😂 plug goes in sound
