Myself and my female 2yr old gsd have scaled back on our training and are currently working on impulse control via using place in the home and down stay when out on walks to try improve impulse control. Excellent advise as always. Thank you.
Excellent teacher, sound logic and clear criteria! While yes each dog is a bit different, I like how you always have an organized process for owners to follow regardless of the individual dog.
This was awesome! I have a two year old German Shepherd who's too smart for his own good but can't sit still for more than 30 seconds! I can't wait to get him on this! Thanks for the great video!!
Compared to your previous video (from reactive to off-leash), you mentioned that the dog should only be in the crate or on the place board. I feel like it conflicts with this video about the place command. It is both very clear on what to do. However, on the duration training, do you release the dog after his/her nap or do you keep the dog on the place board to give him/her no freedom yet? Loving your videos, learning a lot from it!!
Yea but to be honest, these longer format videos are needed. Especially for these basics. For 1 example, i have trained my dog to place. He can do it for maybe 30 mins tops. With distractions maybe only 5 mins. He has a good heel and walks great with obedience on the fly. But i had little understanding that place can exercise the impulse control. Which my pup really needs at home and sometimes outside. Only with the examples in this long format, do i get the sense of time and function of the trainings. Whats crazy is its free!! Thanks to OP
Best trainer around! His style of training and teaching is unmatched!
Miles,
You are a fantastic communicator.
Excellent trainer.
We're training the owners more than the dogs.
Glad I found this one. Easy, clear and exact instructions. Excellent human training!

As usual, great stuff Miles! Place is one of our favorites and couldn't live without. Best program.
Would love to see a video like this for the heel command!!
Another brilliant tutorial! Miles you are spectacular!
I needed this one, thank you!

Yes, on level 3, as long as they keep all 4 paws on place

Wow! I just realized i’ve been doing place ALL WRONG! starting over!!
👌🙏
The 12 to 15 minute videos are perfect for me.
I'll watch 2 to 3 videos in a row vs 1 really long video

Hit pause button … I do this on 3 and 4 hour videos.
Mine is all good until he is off the leash...
