Both great phones with the Pixel 2XL pulling slightly ahead. The iPhone X video very impressive with smoother slow motion and sharper images. The 2XL much better at producing true to life images. Ultimately, you can't go wrong with either. Fantastic video 👍
The pixel 2 XL gets the win yet another year. Google is doing an amazing job with computational photography based on machine learning /deep learning (yes, I'm a nerdy computer vision master student...).
XeniX The Gamer literally only sounds good when there is absolutely no background noise. The second there’s any, the Pixel applies a poor attempt at background noise reduction and it sounds awful.
Great comparison!! Both have their good and bad.. someone looking for a good camera phone who doesn’t care about OS won’t be disappointed with either.. it’s nice there is a good option for people to choose from
Both are doing well but as you said "iPhone has had portrait mode for 2 years now" the pixel 2 xl in my opinion as a photographer would be the device I would want in my pocket if I didn't have my DSLR with me constantly. Pixel 2 is the overall winner. Great colours, dynamic range, sharpness and all this with a single camera. Well done Google and well done Danny. Thanks for the share and great job.
The new Pixels are on a whole different level in terms of camera performance. And to think it's mainly software magic. Can't wait for the Pixels Core to be enabled. Wondering if that would further enhance what is already a very impressive camera.
Wow pixel 2xl crush the iPhone 10. iPhone 10 over expose every single show in daylight in the area where the highlight are. Yeah the image looks punchier and more over saturatd , which is an other issue, there is no details, and you can't even recover it from the blown out area . Pixel just have way more information and details with more realistic color. You can always bring up saturation and contrast if you want in the post, but once the information is lost, it lost. I don't think I need to say anything about the lowlights photos, the results looks like the iPhone 10 is from 3 years ago. No competition here.
Can I just say did Apple completely abandon the front facing camera? Because to me it seems as if the 7 megapixel camera is the same as the 7 plus Aside from all the portrait stuff
Maybe they were judging on different areas than the still photos. Or, they like the more saturated colours. It's only "plain as day" during the still photo daytime shots :)
I belive the blown-out stuff is the camera "misinterpreting the situation" based on the chosen focus point. That is easily fixed by choosing the focus point manually. You can see it on the face that it is underexposed compared to the Pixel. That being said, I like what the Pixel does with the sharpness. When it does not overdo it, it does great. I need better equipment to have a verdict on the audio, but one thing that comes to mind is that louder sound often mean more compressed sound. Lower sound can mean more information is actually there. I would like to know the specs of the audio codecs used (I might need to check on that).
I hope you don't design a speaker, because that Pixel mic is terrible. Grainy, silibance in the treble. May sound good at first or if you have "muffled" speakers, but no, it sounds yuk after you get past the initial "it's better because it's louder and there's more treble"
+Rennie Ash. I agree. It seems that the comment section here is flooded with Pixel fanboys. It's fine if people prefer the Pixel's camera, but claiming that it sounds 'better' can only be fanboy talk. The Pixel is currently the WORST sounding phone on the market in the top tier section.
SOUND QUALITY: iPhone X microphone sounds like cotton-swabs are stuff in it. Pixel 2XL sounds clearer but a tab bit high on the top-end frequencies that might be slightly unpleasant depending on what you are listening to. (2) PICTURE QUALITY: iPhone X seems slightly more saturated on video in comparison to Pixel 2XL. The HDR seems to be taking full effect and you can see it evident compared to the iPX. (that's my short for 'iPhone X.'.. lol.) The Pixel 2XL is also crisper on photo-details. iPX tends to do a little too much exposure.... Pixel 2XL falls short on night-time / low-light recording in comparison to iPX. Ironically, the iPX night-time colors seems more realistic in your road-example. .... The 2XL stabilization is great. Hopefully, that won't become a bad thing for getting "stretchy" images in fast movement.
Excellent comparison for the most parts but like every other comparison I've seen it completely glosses over the wide-color capture on the iPhone, which makes the colors look much better than any other phone when looking at the images on a native wide-color display like on the iPhone or the Macs. It's a small advantage, considering the lack of widespread wide-color displays and software but it's an advantage worth mentioning anyway.
Videos like this reassure me that I should get the Pixel 2 XL. Great job, videos like this no matter what iPhone is being compared usually give all the glory to Apple. Glad to see a video like yours that is strictly Apple fan based.
Winner and resolution for 2018 Iphone 8 plus or X for my wife Pixel XL for myself. Both cameras are doing exceptionally great. Best cameras of 2017 so far.
Already the Pixel XL2 results look jaw dropping. Except for night time video. Still, I wonder what the "Pixel Visual Core" chip will bring once it is enabled. It could be a bit of a game changer.
Awesome job my man! Daylight/outdoor = iPhone HDR = iPhone Front = pixel Video = Tie Night/outdoor = pixel Low light/indoor = iPhone Portrait = iPhone rear, pixel front Can’t go wrong either way
iPhone X tends to blow up highlights in low-light condition while Pixel 2 XL crushes shadows in daytime and always has some noises especially in the sky during night. Pixel also uses higher contrast and gets slightly more details but iPhone seems to take sharper photos across any lighting conditions, with more natural looking colours. It was very close but I like iPhone's pictures more - it just seemed more consistent.
Thanks for the video. Looking at it on my laptop I have to prefer most of the iPhoneX images. Yes, as you say, in low light some of the detail is blown out compared to the Pixel but again in general I prefer the colour balance of the Apple. Just goes to show how much preferences matter!
I think in daylight shots Pixel 2 XL looks a bit darker thus loosing dark details but in the night time shots iPhone burns lighter details. It is a matter of details.
Great comparison! Probably the best of the ones I have seen between these 2 phones. Would love to see the Note 8 compared to the iPhone X, as I am considering the iPhone X, Note 8, and Pixel 2 XL for purchase.
Video is for iphone Photos are for pixel. . Most people care about photos and selfies. No one upload a 4k on their Instagram or Facebook. 1080 p is more than enough. . If you need a secondary camera for video, go with iphone 8 plus with gimbal. .
Seem more neck and neck during video stuff so maybe if you use your phone a ton for video the iPhoneX would be better. For any actual pictures I felt like the XL2 was always ahead and in some cases by a lot. Your selfies on the XL2 did seem blown out at times which is different than what I've seen in some other reviews so I guess as always YMMV with circumstances I feel like we are getting to a place though where you have to ask.....who is still willing to switch from Android to iOS or visa versa? I feel like it's a pretty small %?
I've spent some time with the pixel 2 and iPhone 8. I liked the pixel much more in almost everyway except low light video. It's actually quite terrible which was a real let down.
4K 60fps walks the pixel. The video is buttery smooth after being recorded the playback looks live. I have been so impressed with the iPhone X Images are phenomenal screen is the best on a smartphone. It’s just a solid device.
Excellent video! One of the best I had ever seen on phone camera comparison. Thank you! I'd love to see you compare U11 vs iPhone X vs Pixel2 vs Pixel(1) cameras.
Loved the comparison man! Pixel seems to take this one 😍
Thanks dude! Yeah Pixel FTW!
Noooo
Mrwhosetheboss worng
Hey Boss!
take what? photos yes, videos no, sound no, zoom no
Pixel 2 xl 🔥
As an iPhone fan, i have to tell that Pixel has the best camera. I admit this.
After the first 5 photos I can already see the iPhone tends to overexpose a lot, compared to the Pixel 2, which has better HDR.
P2XL king bruh. Love this phone
LaShun I have the pixel 2 and it's amazing man. In every way!!
Leobardo Rizo very beastly
LaShun. Note 8 is king of 2017
KVN bruh watch out with that BS. Not even a challenge. 🤦🏾♂️
KVN note 8 and all Samsung products are garbage. Pixel 2 is next level. Software>Hardware. It's that simple.
Pixel way better, way better dynamic range, colors, white balance and video stabilisation is from another world.
Both great phones with the Pixel 2XL pulling slightly ahead. The iPhone X video very impressive with smoother slow motion and sharper images. The 2XL much better at producing true to life images. Ultimately, you can't go wrong with either. Fantastic video 👍
the pixel software is pretty insane and i'd say ahead of anything else on the market. its clear as day.
Wacky Wakes which place id this?
The pixel 2 XL gets the win yet another year. Google is doing an amazing job with computational photography based on machine learning /deep learning (yes, I'm a nerdy computer vision master student...).
I prefer the Pixel 2 xl....Hands down...
Will Arnold. Same
Pixel 2 is so much better. Kudos
Think Pixel 2XL is more detail camera
Pixel 2XL camera is much better in my opinion
Specs Maniac much might be a bit much
I hate the Pixel's mic
The mic is mediocre as hell
yep XL version has some issues with it .. non XL si fine though
The pixel 2 sounds better and the pictures looks sharp, hands down the best camera I've seen on a smartphone.
XeniX The Gamer literally only sounds good when there is absolutely no background noise. The second there’s any, the Pixel applies a poor attempt at background noise reduction and it sounds awful.
Manlet Fitness the fix is coming in the next software update
The audio is horrible. Blocks out way too much background noise and makes the voice way too dense and tinny at the same time
WGACA yeah. The 5th best smartphone camera. After iphone 8+. Sit back and watch the no1&2.
Great comparison!! Both have their good and bad.. someone looking for a good camera phone who doesn’t care about OS won’t be disappointed with either.. it’s nice there is a good option for people to choose from
Couldn't agree more. =)
+Michael T Panetta TRUTH

Pixel2XL the winner hands down 👏👐 no doubt about it. Can't wait for that note 8 and Pixel 2XL comparassion for us Android users.
Pixel is the king of photography!!!

Pixel 2 won this one.
You're great as always 💕 brilliant
Pixel is amazinggg so natural best camera phone now every pic from it perfect
Man, I don't know where you took these pictures but the landscape is wonderful, take me there
The Dynamic Range the Google Pixel 2 XL is 👌👌👌👌
+UFCMMA93 Yeah for sure. It’s unreal on some shots.
Pixel
Can I just say did Apple completely abandon the front facing camera? Because to me it seems as if the 7 megapixel camera is the same as the 7 plus
Aside from all the portrait stuff
same mega pixel with new sensor not the old one
Pixel 2 is the winner for me as it has more details in most pictures compared to the iphone x
Pixel 2 XL is best
Google Pixel 2 XL totally won, I have no idea why some are saying iPhone won. Cause it's PLAIN as day. Great video Danny
Maybe they were judging on different areas than the still photos. Or, they like the more saturated colours. It's only "plain as day" during the still photo daytime shots :)
Absolutely Pixel 2. And the most important thing is it is onlu single lens
One of the best camera comparison I've seen so far!Expecting more such videos

You are absolutely right , pixel 2 is little bit better .
Great comparison in Disney springs. I’m right around the corner from you man. Keep it up
The winner is as expected , but many will disagree Google's choice of more natural colours for its photos
That's what we call a comparison , out of this world video sir , really well done
Hey Danny, where you took the park pictures? What's the location name?
sound and pictures go to the pixel2 XL
I hope you don't design a speaker, because that Pixel mic is terrible. Grainy, silibance in the treble. May sound good at first or if you have "muffled" speakers, but no, it sounds yuk after you get past the initial "it's better because it's louder and there's more treble"

Google pixel 2 xl
Best test camera comparison i’ve watched so far! Deserves a sub👍🏻

Where did you took the shot with the mountain? It’s beautiful over there!

The daytime location around 2.00 - 5.00 mins looks fabulous. Where is it mate?
Google has the best camera I have every fucking seen on a smartphone. This is a coming from an Apple fan
Videos like this reassure me that I should get the Pixel 2 XL. Great job, videos like this no matter what iPhone is being compared usually give all the glory to Apple. Glad to see a video like yours that is strictly Apple fan based.
Is it possible to implement portrait mode feature in older smartphones with PDAF camera?
You rocked the comparison! straight to the point, 7 min perfect length.
Thanks!
You're right! Pixel 2XL is the best in this comparison. Good video
Pixel no doubt
Where’s were these shots taken? Place looks wonderful.
Winner and resolution for 2018
Iphone 8 plus or X for my wife
Pixel XL for myself.
Both cameras are doing exceptionally great. Best cameras of 2017 so far.
awesome comparison
Pixel 2 XL got an excellent win for camera, and I also feel like it sounded clearer in the sound test.
Hey Danny, how about throwing the Note8 into the ring along side these 2 giants? that would be a great video.
Can you a comparison with HDR on for both, as in turned on, not set to auto.
Ur review is unique loved it
Very well done video !
Another great video Danny... Pixel 2 photos better for me...plus the sound is much better on the pixel also
So should i buy one of these or a $1200 camera considering that i recently bought a $300 phone?
Great video .. nice comparison 👌
Where are you taking these pics? Place looks amazing and like a place I need to visit.
Already the Pixel XL2 results look jaw dropping. Except for night time video. Still, I wonder what the "Pixel Visual Core" chip will bring once it is enabled. It could be a bit of a game changer.
Awesome job my man!
Daylight/outdoor = iPhone
HDR = iPhone
Front = pixel
Video = Tie
Night/outdoor = pixel
Low light/indoor = iPhone
Portrait = iPhone rear, pixel front
Can’t go wrong either way
Great video!!
pixel 2xl
Good work (as usual)! Lookin' forward to future comparisons.
From where can i buy those covers?
Dude where do you live?
I thought you were living in Kokiri Forest with some of these shots.
I like your objective reviews, please keep up the good work.
this was a really good review video
Awesome review... thank you
Bro which place is that with sbow mountain answer please want to visit.. Thanks

Thank you for such a detailed comparison. torn between the two phones and this was super helpful!
What’s up Danny?!???? Thanks for the video
+Justin Esquibel Yo!

Quite a splendid picture comparison.
Guys, where it was filmed&I definitely need to visit this place
Loved the vid
It looks like you went to Jurassic Park to take these camera samples lol
I think in daylight shots Pixel 2 XL looks a bit darker thus loosing dark details but in the night time shots iPhone burns lighter details. It is a matter of details.

+Sean Martin hmm that the video that’s uploading tomm. Stay tuned!
Why don't you do a second video showing HDR Plus on the pixel 2 XL when the chips are turn on
I was waiting for this video. And above all thanks for all the hard work and efforts. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Video is for iphone
Photos are for pixel.

Most people care about photos and selfies. No one upload a 4k on their Instagram or Facebook. 1080 p is more than enough.

Pixel 2 XL
Wow, I knew it.
Can you please do some drop tests of Pixel 2 with Rhinoshield crashguard bumper on (once gets released ).?
They both look really good... cant go wrong with either. But google needs to update that video sound quality asap
Thanks Danny for this great comparision I would like to go with pixle 2XL
I like how you took a picture at Animal Kingdom. I love it there. The pixel 2 xl takes amazing photos and I'm glad I got one. Helpful video 👏
Why didn’t you say anything about the iPhone X‘s Portrait Lighting mode?
+kylecoolky I don’t find them useful for every day but I should of mentioned it.
Seem more neck and neck during video stuff so maybe if you use your phone a ton for video the iPhoneX would be better. Google should work the exposure for low light videos.
The EQ on the Pixel audio seems to be really treble heavy to the point where it sounds harsh.
Where have you taken these pictures ? I mean place.
I've spent some time with the pixel 2 and iPhone 8. I liked the pixel much more in almost everyway except low light video. It's actually quite terrible which was a real let down.
You explained it very well
Do compare pixel 2 xl with galaxy s8
Great video. you made my decision so much easier, i'm definitely getting the pixel 2.
Thank you!

+Steve Lim thank you!
