I agree about the iphone 11 for dynamic range in video. It’s the reason i chose to buy it. To be fair, for some subjects the dynamic range is a little too artificial looking on textures and details, but i like being able to capture as much of what’s in the frame as possible, regardless of exposure. The latest phones from a few brands are nearly as good, but the iphone still has a slight edge

HDR is very good on the iPhone, but its also a bit too much when it comes to natural photography. The way iPhone handles warmer tones is not very pleasing and with faces it tends to cast a very red hue and flattens the highlights on the face too much. Also the noise levels are often what turn the iPhone photos too mushy. I agree the video looks great, but if you dwelve into it, the artificial stabilisation and very jumpy HDR make it quite unusable for serious camera work. Stabilisation is what ruins the video for me the most, because its obvious how much warping is in the image and how much crop is used on the sensor. Its not bad at all if you view it from the phone screen or just use it for regular image capturing, its fast and reliable, but quality is actually better on most other flagship phones.

You can actually take ultrawide photos with the pixel 4a using photosphere, it requires quite a bit of patience and I recommend doing this in landscape mode, not portrait.
It's a nice workaround, thanks for the tip. There's a lot more potential distortion, but fun to play with
Salute to you for the only one as far as i know mentioning the HDR flickering issue that plague iPhone video recording, it compromised the video quality so much imo but somehow, there's barely a UA-camr mention anything about that, cheers for you my dude🥂

I'd love to have a comparison showing video taken indoors with natural light. I just got the S20 plus and my indoor video sucks. Trying to find a good replacement before the return period ends. Great vids though!

@@Mark-uk8wz yeah honestly though for most people I think there videos are good enough. I don't think most people will notice a striking difference between goggles and the iPhones or Samsung's video quality, unless it's side by side.

Hi, you have great reviews! Please tell me why reviewers, when talking about a display, never check PWM (pulse-width modulation). Today, manufacturers mainly install oled displays, which often have a high PWM, which can cause pain in the eyes and headaches for the owners of these devices. Chinese manufacturers have started to build DC DIMMING, but unfortunately Google hasn't.
It would have been a perfect comparison if you showed the digital zoomed shots of the pixel 4a with the telephoto shots of iPhone and s20. Nevertheless still great comparison :)

@@MzwandileHarmans It's also not quite as clean. That said I don't like the s20 sound unless you specifically want background noise reduction. I'd probably turn it off for a lot of videos

It seems the 11 Pro activates night mode on 2x mode by using digital zoom on the main camera, instead of using the 52mm camera straight. Maybe you can try in low light by covering the 52mm camara to see if there is still image:) Also I suppose Apple gonna introduce night mode on ultra wide this year and call it an improvement which they could have done in 2019...

Hi, just something I've noticed. Pixel phones do have an ultra-wide mode, as part of their Photo Sphere option in the camera app. If you go to more > photo sphere > swipe down > wide angle it can take pretty good wide angle shots by stitching together 9 regular shots. It's pretty good imo

I look forward to the 4a, I have a 3a XL with an IP68 case. They'll make one for 4a soon I'm sure, I got mine on Amazon for $20+ and it's been working great. Podcasts, calls and texts in the shower, I can use it in rain, I am not worried about washing it if I drop it in soup 🤣🤭 stuff like that. I'm careless and always get IP68. I had an S10 and multiple times I dropped it in my soup so yeah, always look on Amazon etc for those waterproof cases of your phone isn't IP68. Plus if you go in the ocean they have bags rated at 100ft+ that let you use the camera and screen still. Awesome stuff. And the salt won't damage your phone. They're not rated for salt water.
I had to see this video several times and sometimes stop or slow it down. I'm shocked by the extremely high quality of Google Pixel 4a. how much of it offers for its price. It's amazing. I want that phone.
Pixel really needs to tidy up on the video front, for the higher end line up in particular.
Thyst quality is acceptable at this price but honestly embarrassing at 899, which is the Pixel 4's price.
Amazing. I got my S20 for equivalent of $720 so a good deal. If pixel had bigger storage and was waterproof, then I'd have bought it. It's amazing for the price.
Hey, hopefully constructive feedback: I found the Ken Burns effect to be EXTREMELY irritating and it made comparing photos very difficult.
Pixel 5 could be the one when it arrives.
I can carry a wide angle lens and boom I saved 600 dollars
I'm on my second pixel phone and it really is the sweetspot for a camera phone, truly fantastic for the money..highly recommended..😉
