I remember reading Maus when I was 13 (in 2003), it’s such an important perspective to experience. I borrowed it from my local library. Comics about history make history more accessible. Kids shouldn’t be barred from education, especially when that education can teach them empathy and compassion.

This is a book that I strongly believe everyone should read. As the years progress and the holocaust gets further away, it’s much easier to just think of it as an event that happened instead of a dramatic life altering movement that impacted millions of people. To be so viscerally reminded of its individual impact on human lives is an experience that everyone should feel. We should not be allowed to forget about what we are capable of when we let fear and ignorance win. So I want to thank craters like you for covering this topic regardless of how many views it gets.

There is this narrative that someone must be "strange" or have psychological disorders if they are Holocaust survivors. My grandfather is exactly like Art's father and he never experienced the Holocaust. There is even a scene in Maus which happened to me in real life with my grandfather. My grandfather being so stubborn jumped on the roof at 90 years old to fix something. I think simply some old people who lived through the war learned that saving and being extremely obsessive (like checking you never waste anything or keep every single object) would save them from the poverty and dangers. It's no a condition from the Holocaust, people who lived throught the war are usually very obsessed with keeping money and stuff like him.

😲 I was growing suspicious because this video was highly anticipated. But it doesn't get many views. The CTR and watch time are higher than usual but UA-cam keeps the reach low. Weird eh!

I first heard of *"Maus"* about 20 years ago at a library not far from where I live. I wish I had read it. It's unforgivable that anyone would have it banned from libraries or other places.

I really like these banned book videos! Keep it up! I really liked hearing directly from Spiegelman, too!
Also small note on pronunciation of a US state. @ 12:10 for Kentucky its kehn-TUHK-ee, basically just a stronger emphasis on the second syllable.
