Another successful DYI repair using one of your videos: was able the troubleshoot the warm fridge while freezer was working due to too much ice packed on the evaporator coil. Thank!

Thanks for the video. Takes all the guess work out of the process. I am not sure of my exact root cause of failure yet, but checking the defrost heater is on my list.

Where the tape is in the upper right corner..., my tape was covered with thick ice. The system cycles about every 20 minutes. 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off. Any ideas?

Anyway to check to see if the heater works? Force defrost? I try to force defrost (Sh=short) Lo=Long. But I can't seem to get the heater to heat up? Ideas? Maybe defrost thermostat? I would think if you force defrost that it should bypass the defrost thermostat? Ideas? My freezer keeps frosting over and doesn't defrost. I replaced the evap fan/(includes the defrost thermostat, and freezer thermostat. Is there a defroster control board?

Yes this is by far the worst home appliance repair I've had to do. First I had to defrost the coils with a hair dryer so it would budge. And then I sliced my hands up good trying to remove the old heating element.
