We have these at work. The Samsung version of a Drain heat probe is DA61-06796A Evaporator Drain Clip. Do LG Fridges have these? I emailed both LG spares and tech support departments with a picture of the Samsung one and they claimed they had never heard of them and there was no LG equivalent.
OK, the heat exchanger stops working as designed and the defrosted water which use to go down the exit hole, now freeze instead. Causing defrosted ice to become water and go into the refrigerator. Regardless of adding the part you show or wrapping a copper wire around it and sticking the end down the exit hole. What is the cause of the exchanger no longer doing the job it once did. I can only assume that regardless of you method or mine using a bit of copper wire to do the same thing. Are both only temporay solutions and one should start thinking and saving for a new refrigerator.
This will resolve the issue. All Refrigerator computers are different. But most of the logic in the computer will cut the exchange after so many Minutes of running to preserve the health of the exchange/motor The frost causes the motor to work harder Is it tradeoff? You get a refrigerator with higher temps.
How much is the kit. My LG fridge had that problem too. I got a Copper wire, tied it to the evaporator heater and put it in the drain hole. The kit looks much more professional.
Do you really need the round metal drain hole insert? Won’t the heated metal extension piece work by itself inserted into the plastic drain pipe of the fridge? I want to keep the original width of the drain hole as large as possible if I can.
@@richmellow3315 The metal insert for the drain hole was too big anyway so I didn’t use it. It’s been over a month with no problems but still too soon if the probe will work on its own. But your experience is promising for my results also. (Edit5/24/22) A year more has passed and the drain has never frozen over again! Just the metal probe hanging down into the drain hole from that warming wire running lengthwise a inch above the drain hole has fixed the problem! No more ice freezing that tiny drain hole. No more warm refrigerator! I did make sure though that the probe touched the side wall of the drain hole. Keeps the drain hole warm enough so no ice forms ever.
Congratulations!
'You are now a refrigerator plant worker.' First break is at 8:30. Lunch is at 11.' "Now go report to your workstation."

This really helped thank you

@@repairclinic unfortunately no instructions were included in the kit. It is a generic part I bought from Appliance Parts 365. 😕

I simply used a Heavy gauge Copper Wire, clipped to the element, Down into the drain and it has worked perfectly for years.

Does anyone know why that copper tube with black tape on it keeps freezing over?? Any solutions? Both freezer and fridge is warm
