    I did change lcm on my 2006 3.0d ( I bought lcm with the same part no.) . And it worked as well. The only think is that small dot appered next to speedometer as you say. Similar symptoms... Saved me lots of cash. Thank you buddy

      No I didn’t. But warning, my high beams and daylight running lights do not work as before. There are some vids on buying software for your laptop to reprogram the LCM to work for your optional headlights installed.

    Hi Corey, wondering if you have time to check something for me on your LCM connector X10117 (that's the wide black one in the middle). I've swapped an LCM 4 w/auto LWR into my E39 and am running the wires for the LWR stepper motors to retrofit the factory Xenon headlights but I can't find the proper wiring diagram anywhere to tell me exactly which wires go to which pins in the LCM. At 4:07 in your video I can see the wires running into the plug so if you've got some time to open the connector and check you'd be able to let me know the proper pinout.

    Would the LCM effect your brake lights staying on while the my 04 2004 X5 is is running?

    • @AK907dude
      @AK907dude  6 місяців тому

      Not 100%, but most likely it is an issue with your LCM.

    Thanks for this excellent video! I have a 2004 E53 that is experiencing the exact same symptoms as your was. Did you pull a code to determine the lcm was the problem or did you replace based on symptoms alone?

    • @AK907dude
      @AK907dude  3 роки тому +1

      I did not look for codes. I only read forums that said it’s time to replace your LCM.

    • @AK907dude
      @AK907dude  3 роки тому +2

      No coding needed, but... your red tamper dot will be on in the dashboard, and if the previous car did not have Xenon headlights but yours does, then it may not display the proper lights for daytime running lights or high beams. That was the case with mine but I eventually got all the software and cables to code away the tamper dot and fix my high beams.

    When replacing the LCM to one bought from ebay do you have to reprogram it to the your 2002 e53 specs or you can just put it put in the car?

    • @AK907dude

      You don’t have to but you’ll probably want to. More details in the description of the video. I highly recommend you read that.

    Great Video! I have a question for you about my X5 E53. My tailgate brake lights don't work (clear and red), but my release button and license plate lights do work. I'm inspecting the connectors (male and female) and I notice the harness only has two electric pins, but the tail lights have 3 pins. I looked at the same harness (2002 x5 e53) on ebay, and it only has two pins as well... Then I looked at the taillights, and all those have 3 pins too! So it seems like everything should be that way, but I just don't get why the female connector uses 3 pins and the male connector uses 2 pins. I was going to see if you could possibly check and see if your x5 tailgate lights are using a 2 pin connector that goes into a 3 pin as well. Thanks again for the videos! A+++++ Cheers!

      My tail light harness has 4 wires and 4 pins on both the male and female connections.

      @@AK907dude and thats the ones on the tailgate? Both my side taillights have 4 pin connectors. But my tailgate light assembly (the one with the reverse light on top) only has 3 pin connectors, and the harness has room for 3 pins, but only uses 2. Thanks for the fast reply!! I couldn't believe it when I got a notification from youtube lol. Cheers!

      AWESOME!!! Thank you so so so much. Do only your reverse lights work on that? My reverse work now, but the red lights on the same assembly don't work. Thank you so much for checking that out for me!! You're a great man, saved me tons of time.

      @@FloridaBikeSupplyOnline yes, only my reverse lights work on the tailgate. In fact, there is a factory red cover over the lightbulb socket for the red lens portion.

    if you buy a used one like u did off ebay, do i need to get it coded, or just drive it?

    • @AK907dude
      @AK907dude  4 роки тому +1

      You can just drive it like I am, BUT... my used one must have come from an X5 without XENON headlights, because now it uses my XENONs as daytime running lights and when I switch to hi beams it tries to use my low wattage daytime running lights. There are videos out there how to get the software and do your own coding but I have not tried that yet.

    The vehicle’s mileage is stored in the instrument cluster, the DME and the LCM.
    If the mileage does not match between all three modules, then the tamper light will appear.
