Thomas More do everything need to be political? I don't think the virus is singling out a specific group one way or the other. When will we learn that we need to come together and let go of the political divisions. I'm sure that there is a percentage of people that Hydroxychloroquine may help, but until further research confirms it, we should all be cautious. We really won't know until this virus is met with a vaccination. Until then I hope that you and your family remains healthy during this pandemic!
It is a pleasure to donate to your project. You've taught me so much so that I could prepare, take your sound advice, and learn to understand more about infections than I ever expected. Thank you very much, Dr. Campbell!
I came down with it about a month ago and my cat came down ill at the same time (presumably with COVID-19) he was not very energetic for about four days but he fully recovered.
Yes cats can catch this. I have ferrets and they can as well. It seems they get a milder form of the virus. It acts like a form of lethargy like they will get after a vaccine at the vet. No evidence they can infect humans if they have it ...however they can get it from humans
What I am concerned with is that with mutations and endemic virus that leaves survivors with lung scarring, a second infection would have a significantly higher CFR. Very worrying.
A China doc in wuhan says no permanent lung damage for most... Oldies heal longer.. Not counting critical patients. But this most likely for stain B of covid it could be different elsewhere
@@deeb.9250 Any time a Doctor has to intubate someone with a ventilator it causes some lung damage. If someone already has lung issues already, such as asthma, the damage is severe.
There is something called autophagy. Injured cells within you are more likely to die, than healthy ones. You body clears out damaged cells over time. Thus those with injured lungs or heart will heal over time. The repair for older people is likely to take more time.
I'm worried that the virus acts like HIV, Herpes, Shingles, etc. It could potentially lay low until reactivated at some point. In this case then, the virus would definitely be like living on a roller designed by Demonz. Dayfctarwrld
China had recently implemented the changes to the Law that says that cats and dogs now are defined as domestic animals and not cattle anymore/ Previously cats and dogs were defined as cattle therefore they could be sold for food- now they cannot do that anymore.
I love my dog and hate to think about people eating them. However I don't think that we should have the right to tell other people what they can or cannot eat just because we have grown up with dogs as pets, they are just a animal to some people and food for others.
Hey. I get mine delivered. I use a scarf on face, gloves, and wipe everything off with Lysol wipe then put it in a big bag. I throw away the bags the food came in, I open cardboard boxes of food and throw out the cardboard in my recycle bin. Limit packages coming in. Wipe everything off. WASH HANDS as soon as you go back inside with your groceries.
Other than my own Provincial Premier here in Nova Scotia, you are my only source for what is going on in the world relative to Covid. Thank you so much. Your no nonsense approach to deliverying the facts without propaganda and politics is just what we all need and want.
Here's something positive that I think is being overlooked. We may inadvertently squash out or at least see a big dip in other communicable diseases in the process of this global style quarantine. When this is all over with it will be interesting to see the results.
We may as well wipe out the common cold while we are at it. Also if deaths end at, say under 30,000, dreadful though each death is, we may have less deaths than usual this year following the mild winter (in UK).
What do you expect from those in an excess of comfort... If you helped to create their situation (take part in building modern civ) then you are part of the problem.

Dr. Campbell, I am concerned about the immunity levels of recovered individuals (those who have antibodies due to exposure). Do we know that they will be immune to all strains of the virus, and for how long? We hear stories in media of recovered individuals testing positive later on. If these individuals are not immune from all strains, how does this prolong the status quo?

Dr Campbell, thank you for these lovely educational videos. I am a great fan of your measured and calm delivery. This really does help to keep calm and carry on ;) Two questions: (1) You don't seem to comment on the situation in Eastern Europe other than Russia. (2) Where I am (Poland) there has been discussion of the possible relationship between tuberculosis vaccination and lower covid rates (e.g. DDR used to have it for much longer than West Germany and it seems to have lower rates; Portugal has it but not Spain; and some other European countries still do). Would you have any comments?
Hi john, been watching your channel with all the valid information you are giving out.... Love your delivery, factual, non sensationalist and straightforward....thank you...and well done! I am particularly anxious presently as have carers in to help me in the morning and have had to ask on several occasions for them to sanitise their gloved hands as they sometimes do mindless things like touch their eyes, scratch their head and take the phone out of their pocket and these are people who are making food for me and helping me in other personal care ways and touching everything in and around my home. Would you say i am with this?... I always speak up when i see what’s happening but it is increasing my level of anxiety daily and I am self isolating as in in the at risk category. Kind regards

Dear Dr Campbell, I love the shirt too! Blue is you colour.. 🙂 Regarding UV radiation, is there a time frame 😎. Thats unfortunate about the cold. But makes sense. Best wishes!!!
Any thoughts on possible seasonal variation in virus transmission? The numbers coming out of here, Australia, and New Zealand indicate that it could be a significant factor. Although we've been pretty disciplined in our lockdown so have many northern hemisphere countries that have poor case and fatality numbers so there must be additional factors at play.
Dear Dr.john campbell. Thanks for your great job. I have been following your video since January. It has became to be my daily routine to watch your updates ever since. Im a Chinese who lives in Europe. I have seen wet market reopen news from some medias as well. So I went to check the local news in Wuhan. I saw some Wuhan citizens uploaded photos and videos of Huanan wet market in Wuhan recently. It is still closed, sealed with boards and tapes. Also some said there are few shops start to provide deliveries but it’s still under strict control.
Absolutely disgusting wet markets we need to seued them shut them down now is our chance to make them do this disgraceful people who do this My heart cryed for those animals If one of my family died from covid 19 I would sue them what ever it would take I would. Why isn't our country doingsomthingabout it all those people list to there ill respect of animals.
There has been relatively minimal community transmission in some warm dry places like Western Australia, with transmission under 2% per day and case fatality rate under 1%, even though we still use beaches and supermarkets. Is this a consistent pattern elsewhere? Could this make corona virus relatively mild in warm dry countries with few old people, like many less developed countries?
Neil B China lacks refrigeration.. has high tech facial recognition systems and world leading tech cities...but no fridges....I have not been to a China but your comment sounds iffy... have you been to China and traveled about. I would assume the rural parts are poor but these markets are in City areas... Surely they have fridges here ?....?
Neil B it’s nothing about me believing you.. I wanted to know if you have seen this first hand ? As the the refrigeration theme...many many poorer countries have minimal refrigeration but don’t seem to cause this type of problem with viruses....
Basically, three strains exist. The original one which infected deep in the lungs. A later one was found and believed to have originated in patient four in Berlin where the virus multiples in the upper respiratory first making it more virulent and later a cluster was found in Singapore which might explain their ability to control it in which ORF8 has appeared to degrade in such a way as to make it less virulent. PS, someone needs to tell John that no live virus from faeces has been found, at least not one that has been capable of being able to infect anyone. Some virus was found, but it was deactivated, possibly be stomach acid.
Drinking sewage-laced water in undeveloped areas has the potential for a number of diseases aside from covid-19, including e. coli, typhoid fever, salmonella, and cholera.
Will boiling water alone or with some minimal filtration (say, from a filter used on a drip-type coffee maker) be enough to avoid fecal-oral transmission? I don't expect it to be fully sanitized but at least kill and get rid of part of the dead microbes or sediment.

“Can we assume that an asymptomatic person is no longer contagious after the same sort of time as a symptomatic person?” In general no. Symptoms or not: If the person is treated with antivirals the person is cleared of the virus within 7-10 days. If the person receives no antivirals then the virus can linger for 21-27 days. Finally viral recurrence has been reported in 45-50 days. AND re-exposure infection can occur.

Dr Campbell, thank you, I listen to you everyday & you’ve educated so many people & provide a very straight forward way on a subject that’s so complicated . Dr. Campbell, thank you so much for all the information you share with us! I have a complicated question: Does the covid 19 or influenza virus dies after 12 - 14 days inside a car that it's never been used and that it has been parked outside the garage, with a temperature of 30 - 50 degrees Fahrenheit? I read that only the RNA might survive for that long, but not the virus itself... Is that correct? Thank you Sir!

I love this Q&A video! I would really enjoy seeing more of these. Thank you, Dr. John!
My uncle was hospitalized with coronavirus in New York Citythey released him and he's doing okay they gave him an anti-malaria drug
Shhhh... nurse Campbell doesn't buy into antivirals, hydroxychloroquine and zinc.
My friend did great on O2 alone.
@@iloveamerica1966 He will if and when research proves they are effective against this virus.

Fantastic video again Doctor. Could you do a weekly Q&A. Thanks for your hard work Ben
great idea, Ben! I agree
Great video. I was wondering about whether take out food was safe to consume? Take out is allowed where I live in Canada.
Doctor Campbell, I just love your videos! Thank you so much for the great information!
It is a pleasure to donate to your project. You've taught me so much so that I could prepare, take your sound advice, and learn to understand more about infections than I ever expected. Thank you very much, Dr. Campbell!
Dr. John, looks like we are doomed to suffer from this virus for a while, no matter what we do!
The gods are angry about Trump.
I came down with it about a month ago and my cat came down ill at the same time (presumably with COVID-19) he was not very energetic for about four days but he fully recovered.
So its true then! Cats can become infected?

Yes cats can catch this. I have ferrets and they can as well. It seems they get a milder form of the virus. It acts like a form of lethargy like they will get after a vaccine at the vet. No evidence they can infect humans if they have it ...however they can get it from humans

Thank you! That's the first time I've heard anything solid about whether or not the virus is in blood. Most appreciated 😊
Again, thank you for taking time to share your knowledge which is like an extra big dose of the antiviral medication.
Same. I read article in Science yesterday that said surviving the illness is just the beginning. I really didn’t like what it had to say.
Lovely to see you again Dr. John! I’m a little late today but you’re always right on time with a wealth of information. Thank you SO much! Beverly
Thanks for another excellent video. You’re the best!
China had recently implemented the changes to the Law that says that cats and dogs now are defined as domestic animals and not cattle anymore/ Previously cats and dogs were defined as cattle therefore they could be sold for food- now they cannot do that anymore.
Good to hear!😃😃😁😁
(: Thank God!!!!! ... 😚
Good news, let's hope it's enforced.
I love my dog and hate to think about people eating them. However I don't think that we should have the right to tell other people what they can or cannot eat just because we have grown up with dogs as pets, they are just a animal to some people and food for others.
@Diana Moore i pray that those people doing it to the animals meet the same fate as the animals they tortured...amen

Thanks as always Dr John for the info. You deserve a lot of recognition for all you do.
I leave my mail outside 14 days. But I'm worried about my grocery deliveries.
Great Shirt Dr John ! looking good!
Here's something positive that I think is being overlooked. We may inadvertently squash out or at least see a big dip in other communicable diseases in the process of this global style quarantine. When this is all over with it will be interesting to see the results.
In Hong Kong the flu season was cut short by several weeks.
We may as well wipe out the common cold while we are at it. Also if deaths end at, say under 30,000, dreadful though each death is, we may have less deaths than usual this year following the mild winter (in UK).
Cuomo said overdoses have almost vanished, that’s good news from this mess.
Traffic fatalities are down as well.

Just thank you Dr.Campbell.for enlightening us as others certainly have not.
Immunity probably won't last, but subsequent infections might be milder.

Two questions: (1) You don't seem to comment on the situation in Eastern Europe other than Russia.

Any thoughts on possible seasonal variation in virus transmission? The numbers coming out of here, Australia, and New Zealand indicate that it could be a significant factor. Although we've been pretty disciplined in our lockdown so have many northern hemisphere countries that have poor case and fatality numbers so there must be additional factors at play.

I saw some Wuhan citizens uploaded photos and videos of Huanan wet market in Wuhan recently. It is still closed, sealed with boards and tapes. Also some said there are few shops start to provide deliveries but it’s still under strict control.

Afternoon John!

I would assume the rural parts are poor but these markets are in City areas... Surely they have fridges here ?....?
Neil B it’s nothing about me believing you.. I wanted to know if you have seen this first hand ? As the the refrigeration theme...many many poorer countries have minimal refrigeration but don’t seem to cause this type of problem with viruses....
Hello Dr. John! would it be possible to go over the different strains of Covid-19. A, B and C. thank you!
Dr Campbell, you are spoiling us! By my count this is third video today ( if you include the news one earlier today). 😉

Drinking sewage-laced water in undeveloped areas has the potential for a number of diseases aside from covid-19, including e. coli, typhoid fever, salmonella, and cholera.
Drinking water that contains raw sewage is actually worse than drinking soft drinks... at least most soft drinks.
@@MrJimMajor Thanks Shannon85, I'll stop adding raw sewerage to my water, or maybe I'll keep to soft drinks for the time being.
@@MrJimMajor didnt know that
Will boiling water alone or with some minimal filtration (say, from a filter used on a drip-type coffee maker) be enough to avoid fecal-oral transmission? I don't expect it to be fully sanitized but at least kill and get rid of part of the dead microbes or sediment.
I think I spotted you on BBC news. Love your channel.
Can we assume that an asymptomatic person is no longer contagious after the same sort of time as a symptomatic person?
Good question, probably I guess
I don't think I would like to assume anything as far as this virus goes.
Trouble is, unless the asymptomatic person is tested, how would you know they have the virus and how long they've had it?
@@Campbellteaching Supermarket . Bars , Restaurant , Concert , Libraries . Subways , Planes , Hugs & Shaking hands ......... . Since the COVID19 is here , since January & nobody cleaned the stuff , he brought back home WHY aren't we ALL INFECTED ???
“Can we assume that an asymptomatic person is no longer contagious after the same sort of time as a symptomatic person?” In general no. Symptoms or not: If the person is treated with antivirals the person is cleared of the virus within 7-10 days. If the person receives no antivirals then the virus can linger for 21-27 days. Finally viral recurrence has been reported in 45-50 days. AND re-exposure infection can occur.

You answered my questions, thank you!
But one more question...can the virus blow through my FIRST FLOOR window. It is 6 feet from the sidewalk because of my garden, but people walk by constantly and I'm afraid to open my front window.
Maybe I'm overly cautious, but if the distance is only six feet from the sidewalk, I would leave the window closed.
