This looks like it was a fun little project! What are your long term thoughts on the batteries?
Beginner here. Nice setup. Just purchased the 2-pack of these batteries. Just curious why you don’t have a fuse on the larger 2/0 wire in between the SB350 and positive battery terminal? I plan to connect my batteries to a Delta 2 Max. Any suggestions for what size Anderson connectors I would use to do that? Thanks for the review.
Because the battery has a BMS that would shut off if more than 150 amps are drawn. And if you read the manual to the 4000 watt inverter I have, it says don't put a fuse between it and the battery because there are already fuses inside the inverter, it comes with a pack of 40 amp fuses and on the AC side it has a circuit breaker thing like on a power strip. You can't connect a 12v to a delta max because of TOO low an input voltage. You likely need to buy a 48v version of a battery, a server rack one, those already come with a 100 amp fuse and are the safer ones you should use. You can also put 4 of these in series to make the 48v however it gets too janky too quick. How much was the delta pro max?
I wish someone would do a breakdown of this battery do a capacity test a load test
I didn't open it up, but did a capacity test. I got 1876 watt hours out of the advertised 1920 watt hours (perhaps my test was imperfect)
i'm not in favor of having so many cables bucned up on the battery? just saying. I would not feel comfortable with a overloaded cable arrangement. in my view anyways. But interresting reviw. I prefer a more cleaned up cabling. better safe than sorry.
This is the same as having a large cable attached to a busbar and then attaching things there. I am eliminating the distance and it allows maximum amperage. Each Anderson connector has a 40 amp fuse, and the inverter I connect has multiple fuses inside it, and everywhere I connect things to this battery it is fused. The batteries parallel each other with the large cables NOT ANY DIFFERENT from having multiple batteries go to a busbar first in parallel. You seem to be running only AC loads and you see with my system I can do a hybrid AC DC system without the need of converting DC to AC back to DC again which anyone does when they use the "wall wart" power supply blocks. My system is probably safer than yours with one single cable. Hey if you got just one lightbulb or inverter to RUN you do you, but if you get my point, my system is more versatile and I can connect multiple MPPT controllers, if anything NOT overloading any single cable, and having MULTIPLE LEVELS of PROTECTIONS. I have the 48V 50Ah version of that one. 12V sucks due to the giant cables.
Hey bro replace those GIANT cables with GIANT Voltage Converters in case you want to RUN DC loads. I can have multiple laptops charging easy through USB C 100w adapters, you will need to convert your power either to AC and use a USB C brick, or transformer to downvolt to 12v to run the Cigarette lighter adapter. Those Anderson 30amps are mad small, it's only the inverter cables that are beefy. I have never met so many cheap people complicating their life. You don't have a 48v of this, maybe a different format from this company. And charging that you need special charger, you can't use Dell bricks you need to put them in series. Have thought about 48v systems and think they are too complicated. And 48v can do possibly real harm from shock unlike 12v.
