"Extremely Accurate Reinterpretations" should be a series where you explain the lore of peculiar places in WoW
The burning ship at #5 is kind of integrated into the Howling Fjord story and the Vrykul theme of using a lot of chains, harpoons and dragon-heads in their design. The implication was that the Alliance tried to initially set up the base at Valgarde by sailing through the inlet that leads up to Utgarde, but the Vrykul used the harpoon guns on the cliff-side platforms to spear their ship and destroy it. They then used the more armoured and (in lore) faster paddle-wheel ice-breakers instead and were able to sail through.
It makes no sense why the Vrykul didn't just drop the wreck to blockade the inlet, but, you know.. it IS a game :D
The harpoons make a comeback later during the quest-line when you have to use one to escape Nifflevar by essentially shooting yourself off the cliff and into Valgarde below.
And I guess Blizzard really liked the idea of the harpoons, because they show up again in Legion when you're doing the Stormheim quests (I think you have to destroy a bunch for a quest) and you're even given a miniature one to use so you can navigate the area in the form of the Stormforged Grapple Launcher. It's basically useless after you unlock flying in Legion, but I remember you pretty much HAD to use it for some quests that were part of the story-line during the actual expansion.

i kind of assumed the ships at the caverns of time fell into some type of weird portal and ended up at the caverns of time, like a backrooms situation. the caverns of time sorta always seemed like they were on another plane of existence even though the entrance is in tanaris and existed outside of azeroth time

Love how number 10 was one of my favorite things to show people because so many don't know about it
The ironic thing about putting Nazjatar at number 1 is that while questing there was complete shit, the zone itself was really neat to look at and thought out really well, I mean what would a sunken city be like to traverse if there was suddenly no water? The art department is the crutch holding this game up. I know making a game isn't exactly the easiest thing, but the art team seems to be able to push this 20+ year old graphics engine to the limit with every expansion... and then do it again and again. Props to them.

@@matthewzaslavets8423 Counting nonplayable variants of playables like Forest Trolls, Fel orcs, Satyr, Naga, Broken/Lost, Yaungols. Taunka? Or true nonplayables? Quilboar, Kobolds, Troggs, Centaur, Gnolls, Murlocs, Arakoa etc? Maybe best as two different lists?

First time I road the boat to Northrend under that burning ship was so cool. Amazing sceeen setter. Blew my mind.
Pointless top 10 low res/ poorly textured places?
#5 is a ship that was harpooned by the Vrykul, dragged into the air and set on fire on its way to Valgarde. It is pretty cool.
#5 is simply to give the player character a glimpse into the hostility of the Howling Fjord.
The Vykrul harpooned, suspended the ship, and then set it ablaze to display their ruthlessness. That's about all the lore there is for it.
If you consider how heavy a ship is when it's loaded with a crew and expedition supplies, as well as weapons and canons, it'll leave an impression.
I would watch "Crendor Casually Explains Warhammer Lore" like he did with the Arthas vs Mercenaries story
Maybe the Sholazar Basin ship has two different hues because the one half is stuck up there getting hit with direct sunlight and has sun faded/dried wood, while the other half is in the shade and has more moisture around it.
How did I not find this fellah sooner!??! His top tens have become great videos for background while I work, and enjoyable to watch!
Great collection of shipwrecks - GG for another entertaining video. Only ones I would like to add / give an honorable mention to are the wrecks of Tol Barad Peninsula / Tol Barad - I spent a lot (too much) time in those zones in Cata...good times...good times indeed - and there are shipwrecks there! what more could you ask for.
Kinda surprised the shipwrecks taken over by Naga in Arathi Highlands aren't here. Those were the first ships I thought of when I saw this video.

I always assumed the Caverns of Time stuff is just time spillage kinda plop about this area.
I get you never play alliance, but the burning ship, at least to me, showed the alliance trying to go to the fjord originally on one of their common wooden ships as like 90% of human ships all look the same. But you, the player arrive there on a beefed up ship with metal armor N stuff and it was the first time that ship type was seen in game. To me this said that the alliance's first time trying to go into the fjord had *that* happen to them (the burning ship) But with their new ship it is more protected and can't he hoisted out of the water by the Vrykul's giant spears meant for ships.
Has there been a chair list yet many some thrones can be in there or 2 lists I'm sure there's nice lore to them
The Alliance named a ship after a horse? A murdered horse, who probably had it coming.

2:08 most of thr shipwrecks that use thr same model as player ferries have a lot of algae/seaweed on them.
any chance the COT shipwrecks are the ships that were surrounding outlands when the oceans dropped like the first ship??

Weirdly with thr Kirin'Var shipwreck we KNOW the stranded alliance had Gryphons, and it was a mage city that could set up teleports. Probably thr skeletons are those who died in the initial explosion
They really didn't have much of a difference between the Nether and the Void back in the day.

Well. You explain all the wrecks except #9 so they aren't really pointless. All except 9 are part of quest areas. I don't understand about the Kraken one. When that released it was near a Kraken egg quest and it would attack if you got too close. What you are describing to me sounds like a bug. Everything else is for environment aesthetics EXCEPT number 9. In Vanilla (not classic) my guildmates beat me to 60 even though I was a level or two behind and IMMEDIATELY proceeded to do all the 5 mans to try and prep for molten core. However so did alot of alliance (I was a horde orc warlock). #9 holds a near and dear place in my heart because its where I had to grind out levels 58-60. You see the gank fest was REAL. With everyone running dungeons I was all by myself as we normally grouped up. No matter what zone I went to I just couldn't level. As people who were already blue and epic geared 60s could just roflstomp (This was before the rebalance like when rogues could solo you naked with a level 1 worn dagger).
As a last ditch effort I put on my water breathing spell and came to #9 to farm murlocs and naga. In vanilla they swarm this ship but here I don't see any mobs. That house had an NPC in it that I could sell it and the ship was deep enough that you had to have a water breathing buff to get to it and stay down there. If anyone tried to mess with me I would just remove their water breathing buff with the felhound and keep on so the water was able to protect me from all the gankers (you think classic had it bad with rogues, Vanilla was a million times worse and far more of them). After several days I finally made it to 60 as was able to move on and join my raidgroup again. Yes they were aholes though and I didn't really stay with them much after we raided MC a few times. They were good but screamed all the time for no reason. They could make mistakes but you couldn't. I wish I had moved on sooner.
Well this is just wonderfully pointless ❤ I just found your account and I've now lined up so many videos.
I just want to point out that the first pointless Top 10 was almost 10 years ago (this April). It did not happen during WotLK, but during WoD. WotLK (and the burning boat) was 15 years ago. You're welcome, now if you'll excuse me I have to go back to the nursing home and rethink my life.
So, I have a Question about the #10 pick, the human ship in Outlands. Any idea when this ship was made? I doubt it was pushed through the portal. When looking back at the books talking about the humans going to Draenor. From what I remember, they were pretty pressed for time, and there would have been a need for a big enough crew to build the whole thing. Then again the shortcut would be the use of arcane magic, literally a ship in a bottle.
But assuming our beloved heroes from the books didn't use them or have them built, who did? Does the minimap clarify a location in-game like it sometimes does? Perhaps a boat name?
With that mystery, I'd probably consider it my #1 pick for mysterious ships.
Too bad Muradin didn't get credit for telling Arthas to get out of Northrend. At least, that's what I remember from the original WC3 campaign. xP
