when i was younger i had heard the word epitome a thousand times, but for some reason never considered 'epitome' was the same word despite knowing they also meant the same thing... idk what i thought epitome was spelled like, but it wasnt that!
One lake im surprised didn’t make the list is the one in redridge mountains. Takes up most of the zone with lakeshire being built on it and several quests to do different things in it. But I like all the choices picked too!
The Nagrand speech was such a vibe. Out in nature, therapeutic grinding. Tempted to re-sub this weekend to get a sense of that again 😙 One of my favourite lakes is the one in Stonetalon Mountains by the cliff side. I started playing WoW in the WOTLK pre-patch and was levelling through Stonetalon Mountains (Tauren Feral Druid) back when I still didn’t really have a clue what I was doing. I remember my quest marker was positioned at the top of the cliff and back then I didn’t realise there would be a clear pathway up there, so I just fucked about in the lake for ages trying to figure out how to get to the quest marker at the top of the cliff. Got mauled by a black bear. 10/10 very nostalgic
I stopped playing WoW just when WotLK came out but I regularly have huge WoW nostalgia. I just found your channel and I'm enjoying watching your videos and reminiscing!
How did Ruby Lake on the Timeless Isle not even make the list!? It’s beautiful, it has an amazing view, and you can only get there via seagull. What’s not to love?
I think Darnassus as a whole is an underrated city, I've loved that design of its natural lake separating its districts, connected by bridges and small islands. Though while exploring Teldrassil on my Horde character recently, found another isolated lake right above Darnassus. On the map screen its right under the 'Darnassus' banner, up in the... 'cliffs' I guess. Big lake, single dock and boat, several trees edging it. Don't know what was planned for it, but I like it anyway.
I love the Shimmering Flats back in the day cuz it was the map were I realised I was actually higher in level and it felt like it, especially when being called to some random clan pvp fight. Oh man did I not enjoy Cataclysm at all.
I remember leveling through shimmering deep when Cata first came out. I remember getting a summonable boat, also a diving helmet to walk around at the bottom.
A lot of people didn't like the Cataclysm world reshaping but I wish we had it happen again, seeing the world develop and be affected from the big bad villains is really cool and it really makes them feel more powerful and threatening
i like the idea of the world changing, the only thing i dislike with the way cata did it is that we don't have the option to go back... everytime they do stuff like this now there's always the option to visit the old phase of the zones and i really wish we had that for all the zones cata changed too :/
I think a new expansion continent with a massive lake at the center would be sweet. Yes kind of like tirigarde sound but lakier. Underwater areas, a big nessy monster, maybe an elemental rift down there. Imagine the views with zones and mountains surrounding the lake
Crendor! I have been bingeing your videos so much lately during work. I graduated into a job in the games industry, and it has been stressful but a lot of fun. Your videos and cox n crendor have been the perfect thing to listen to while working. Thanks! :)
I am surprised you didn't include darrowmere lake (I think that's the name the lake in tirisfal glades) I think it's one of the most iconic ones. That or the redridge mountains one.
Completely get what you mean about the Mulgore lake. I’m not even that much of a Tauren fan, and yet, the surreal nostalgia for that particular spot is insane. Idk where it’s coming from. But you hit the nail on the head, I can relate so much
One of my favorite lakes to visit, sadly the only way to reach it is by Flight is the lake on the edge of Feralas, nearest Dire Maul. It has a small burned out outpost that screams that it should be important to Something. But never figured it out.
Idk what it is about stonebull lake but it's always been my favorite as well, probably my favorite place in all of wow in conjunction with bloodhoof village, when I quit that's where I'm going to log out my character.
Damn see I didn't actually know about that lagoon thing. Goo Lagoon makes a lot more sense to me, and it's all thanks to Pointless Top 10. I had fun, too! Amazing.
perhaps a 'Pointless Top 10 geographic features in Shadowlands' to send it off? Like points in the Shadowlands that give you positive/good vibes for whatever reason at all.
I can kinda understand that love for the shimmering flats. I felt the same way while levelling through it. it doesn't have much, but what it does have is fascinating
Sholazar basin's centre point lake Rivers Heart is my personal number 1. It has a rainbow and is a nice tropical break from the rest of Northrend, and the music is nostalgic to me. I just love everything about that lake.
I swear nothing makes me wanna drop whatever game I'm on, and return to WoW (though I only played it briefly during Legion) than Crendor's videos, especially these p-top10s. This series really encapsulates what's to appreciate about WoW.
I have a few ideas for more "Pointless Top 10" videos. Feel free to use any of these suggestions. I noticed many animals use similar models. You could make a "Poibtless Top 10 Wolves" in classic World of Warcraft. You could also make a "Worg," "Tortoise," and "Plainstriders" video. You could also make a "Pointless Top 10 Kobolds," "Gnolls," or "Named Undead" video. If you're looking for something a little "out of the box" you could make a "Pointless Top 10 Windows" video. There are a lot of these kinds of mobs in the game.
I kike the gate on the cave on the pirate island in Howling Fjord. There's only ONE cave with that gated entrance, (and a similar scourge version of that cave.)
Lordamere Lake i just had to mention it here. It has Fenris Isle. And Fenris Isle had the first quest that had me go "yeah I won't be able to do this. I need to find some higher level players to help me out with this." It's crazy how I can think of other lakes as well that were not mentioned in the video, but I have old memories attached to all of them.
The ice cream guy in Shimmering Flats/Lake w.e might also be a reference to a fact that in WW2, the United States sent an Ice Cream Barge to the Pacific just to flex on the Japanese.
Hey Crendor, i was wondering if you ever considered doin' "Top 10 Pointless things in *name of a city in WoW*" and making it a series due to how many cities there are in the game? And sorry if this is rude to ask.
Mulgore is funny because in reality it isn't at all like the actual great plains, but it FEELS like a plain. Its very hilly, green, and surrounded by mountains. Also has a decent amount of trees. Its really more like the alps in summer or the foothills of Colorado or something. Also, all the swamps in wow are also incredibly hilly. Turns out flat doesn't look very good or feel good to play in games.
Nothing in the lore is more important than the Well of Eternity. I’m talking the original one. You might think it’s not large enough to be a lake, but in the lore it’s said to have the entire night elf capital city wrapped around its shores. Everything revolves around the Well. The Nordrassil version is also great and lore important as well.
In German "Loch" literally means "hole". So at the beginning of Cataclysm Countess Verrall asked the players to clean her "Loch" because someone made it dirty. Blizzard changed the German quest text later on... 🤣🤣
The intro to this series has become an iconic staple in the Crendlore.
I got a good laugh at “Crendlore”. Thanks for that!
Someone has never heard the word "epitome" said out loud before.
Crendor is quite the 'chameleon'
"Elune" too
Either that or he is quoting Brian Regan
when i was younger i had heard the word epitome a thousand times, but for some reason never considered 'epitome' was the same word despite knowing they also meant the same thing... idk what i thought epitome was spelled like, but it wasnt that!

I was thinking of that one too
I quit during Wrath, came back for Legion. One of the first thing I did was get flying and go to Lakeshire. I don't know why I like that zone so much.
He's mentioned that he mostly plays Horde, so he probably just doesn't have much emotional investment in Redridge.
That isnt a pointless lake
The lake south of Undercity is pretty iconic, as well as the Western Plaguelands one with Scholomance.
Caer Darrow
@@Macroman595 The lake is called Darrowmere Lake. Caer Darrow is the fort built on the island in the center.
That Guy Fieri joke caught me off guard lmao, good video Crendor. I can always count on you to not teach me anything but yet still have fun.
Premium non-content indeed
The main reason why I like Crendor is that even after becoming such a WoW icon, he is still the same humble guy.
Pointless top 10 is great because it let's me see the random parts of azeroth you don't see a lot, really brings back nostalgia for me.
Lordamere Lake, South of Undercity is another fantastic lake. Its part of several zones, and has a cool island fort in it
My favorite lake
And been important since Warcraft 2!
Eppytoam is a great word. If it was pronounced eh-PIT-oh-mee, it would be a fantastic name for a lake. :D This was so peaceful to watch.
In all seriousness it took some brain power to understand the word I knew as Apitami was spelled Epitome
@@verme1eb For me It's the other way around. I constantly butcher the pronounciation of words I've learned from reading but never heard out loud. :D
Yeah, but calling it the eppytoam of relaxation seems like hyperbowl to me.
This is the epitome of Antigone's hyperbole.
Eppytoam is the fantasy pronunciation 😂
I honestly love Mulgore, and it's plain lake.
Very nice video Crendor, these lakes are certainly lakes.
Also that lake in Nagrand, specifically the WOD one too, was the area where I first hit max level on a character. Holds a special place.
Always a good day when a new pointless top 10 is released
The Nagrand speech was such a vibe. Out in nature, therapeutic grinding. Tempted to re-sub this weekend to get a sense of that again 😙

Epitome....bless you Crendor, never change
He is quite the 'chameleon'
@@SirSpot86 glaring gape xD
Crystal Lake in Elwynn? Many a pleb dies to the murlocs there. Very memorable.
Perfect timing. Even when i’m having a bad day your videos cheer me up a little bit. Thanks crendor 😎

I love the lake in redridge, thats my number one. Super nostalgic
Missed opportunity to say the guy in Thousand Needles is keeping his ice cream business "afloat"

Thank you and don't stop being you, bro

I agree with the nagrand pick on a visceral level. That place truly is magical. Does it still have floating islands or no more?
i swear i could almost hear toasterwoman in the next room slap her forhead when she hears crendor pronounce epitome. XD
Hahahahaha, glad I'm not the only one
Lake Kikitata is also where Monks get their class mount 😄
Awesome list! My favorite lake in the game is the lake in the Howling Fjord, between Camp Winterhoof and Apothecary Camp.
Looks up epitome to make sure it's the correct word, does not look up how to pronounce it. Crendor in a nutshell.
Gotta disagrree about the Stranglethorn lake personally, it just feels like the river got a little wider, rather than being its own lake.
Thanks for reminding me of New Nagrand, Crendor! Definitely going to level there again soon.
Do top 10 pointless gates!
There are some pretty cool ones in the world, dungeons, raids, etc :D
I kike the gate on the cave on the pirate island in Howling Fjord. There's only ONE cave with that gated entrance, (and a similar scourge version of that cave.)
Lordamere Lake

Dang, we got wholesome Crenlore in this one. ❤
No Redridge Lake? It’s got a whole shire!
And you’re missing the lake we’ve all spent the most time in: Wontergrasp.
I like how Tirisfal Glades lake isn't on here, because it's useful to hide the bodies.
No joke, you can fish them up bit by bit.
now shoosh! I love the Zangar lake! So good for fishing!
eh-pit-o-me but I get it.
Love Shimmering flats too, everyone thinks I'm crazy for loving it
I really enjoy these videos!

YESSS. This is the content I live forrrr.
You're my favorite Warcraft content creator, Crendor :P
That's so funny, my literal favorite area in cata was twilight Highlands
As an Alliance player i cant help being biased - I'll always love Crystal Lake in Elwynn Forest and Stone Cairn Lake, they're simply sublime
The ice cream vendor sells ice cream made out of silithid parts after you complete his quests, as well! For maximum flavor
Marshlight Lake has an Unused Dark Portal at one of its beaches, which makes it easily the best lake in Zangarmarsh.
Even way back in Vanilla I said my cows would one day retire and live next to Stonebull Lake. Mulgore is amazing.
You should do pointless top ten bridges in WoW
I learned something new ^_^ thanks Crendor
I was just swimming in Lake Elunara today. Moon Guard server obviously
Draenor Nagrand looks and feels new... that's what I thought too
But then I realized WoD is turning 8 years old in 2 months :(
Time flies doesn’t it
epiTOME
Cant believe you missed the secret lake in Darnassus ! gutted. Love your content though
great content! 🍻
Thank you for showing me the world I left so long ago
My guild is currently voting on a tabard change for phase 1 in wrath and someone suggested a top 10 pointless tabards
3:56 Oh don't worry Crendor, the Celts take a sick joy in tongue-twisting english speakers.

Thank you!
I don't play anymore - but god I miss Zangarmarsh. My favourite zone by far, and I left at the beginning of legion.
maybe weird but I really love the lakes in WoW
Lordamere and Darrowmere are top notch meres.
I can't believe you missed a keeping his business afloat joke
Dun Morogh and Loch Modan being one zone would have been a big ass zone, it could have been the Alliance's Barrens lol.
Marvelous. Pointless top 10, pointless learning too, as you usually constantly learn what's a lagoon and a lake, at least in my country.
What up Crendawg
Ahh... i was waiting for the Steam Pools but... didn't make it here :( which is sad cuz its a lake that a lot of players still don't know about.
Lordamere Lake, how could it not make the list?!
Shocked that Lordamere Lake didn't make this list
God Warlords nagrand looks so good even if it's like 8 years old at this point or whatever. Not very new tbh haha
Not including Lordamere Lake is sacrilege but I respect it.
Welcome to Lochlore with Crendor
Simmering Deep is more of a lagoon than a Lake. Since it's an inlet of seawater.
love your videos :)
Loch is just an older english word for Lake, to some degree it's still used in Scotland & Ireland.
In German "Loch" literally means "hole". So at the beginning of Cataclysm Countess Verrall asked the players to clean her "Loch" because someone made it dirty. Blizzard changed the German quest text later on... 🤣🤣
What you feel for Nagrand, i feel for azuremyst isle
love these videos lol
Bring back pre-cataclysm Loch Modan please. It's been long enough.
Just dropped in to commiserate with my Alliance friends over the absence of Lake Everstill in Redridge Mountains :(
I love pointless things 😍
I like the lake in northeast ghostlands
hell yeah dude
