The manual does list 32-foot pounds on the drain plug. However, it seems it often strips the thread. 16-foot pounds should be plenty snug enough.

after it drains, rock the bike slowly. you will have more oil come out the drain and the filter opening.

Doesn't get much easier. Also, my Toyota Tundra's oil wrench cap fit's the OEM filter. ;)

🙋‍♀️ QUESTION: Once you add the oil, are you suppose to run the engine before checking the oil level? I was thought that in cars if you change the filter to run it first to make sure the filter is full of oil. Then check the oil. I did not see you start the engine.
I noticed that my T7 oil level after being parked for about a week is above the top line in the window. In fact the whole window in covered in oil. WhIch appears ro me to be too much oil. BTW, the last time the oil was changed was at the dealer.
But once I run the engine fir several seconds and turn it off, then waited for about 1/2 a minute and checked, the oil line was between the lines where it should be.
So when do you check the oil? When the engine is cold and has been sitting for a while, or when it’s hot and you just turn off the engine?

Yes, run the engine for a couple of minutes, turn it off and let it sit for a few minutes, then check the oil level. Make sure the bike is level when doing this (not on the side stand). If the engine is hot, let it sit for a few minutes before checking. -Charles

@@MrJackson23324 Yamaha recommends full synthetic (10w40 in my country, but maybe in your country they recommend a different viscosity because of a different climate. But surely they recommend full synthetic).

Can someone please confirm the oil filter part number and diameter for correct oil filter socket? Can’t believe the Tenere manual doesn’t tell you this…

The Yamaha OEM oil filter is part# 5GH-13440-80-00. The oil filter socket is a 65mm.

Too much oil won't hurt the engine but not enough definitely will. The cheapest thing you can do to a motorbike is add oil.
