He hit when I was in high school, people were angry he was white, accused him of trying to be "black", was completely ridiculous. Rick was/is an awesome singer.
LOL That was his 90's Hair PanMarsh! thank you for reacting to Cry for Help NO ONE reacts to it (believe me I have asked) and they don't know what they're missing! Rick has aged like a fine wine and has never stopped putting out music. BTW he has been asked and has participated to judge in Gospel Competitions. He is well known and regarded in that community.
I saw Rick Astley live six (!) times as a result of him being the opening act for Take That in 2019 and he has a seriously good live voice. He seems like a lovely guy too! Together Forever is a bop.
Rick is a huge favorite of mine since the 80s! That voice! That hair! That dancing! His dancing brings me joy. Thank you for spotlighting his beautiful talent. He is awesome in his live appearances as well!
Many Americans thought Rick was black when hearing ‘never gonna give you up’…he is also a fantastic drummer…thanks for reaction. He tended to avoid tv interviews in his heyday, seems a modest gentleman
What? Never heard that. I remember that time very well. He had a video out right away for Never Gonna Give You Up. So his physical presence was known from the beginning. But if you say so.
Stock, Aitken and Waterman produced Never Gonna Give You Up, Together Forever and Whenever You Need Somebody. They also produced Better The Devil You Know, What Do I Have To Do, I Should Be So Lucky, Shocked by Kylie and Love In The First Degree and I Heard A Rumour by Bananarama. They were a huge pop factory in the 80s. A bit like today's Max Martin.
You are my soulmate 😉 'Stock Aitken Waterman' were such a machine in the 80s. So many artists and tunes - I think we could have some of that back now. I feel we have come back around again.
Your smile is sooooo cute when you’re listening to Together Forever. You’re so right that his voice rises above the poppy production. It just can’t drown him out.
Together Forever is such a bop. I always thought he was an odd choice to become a meme (one of the first!) Like, Never Gonna Give You Up high key slaps, Rick is clearly talented, soo.... I mean, if the goal was to troll people, wouldn't you achieve maximum trollage with a worse song by a lesser talent??? Idgi but I'm thankful for the Rickroll phenomenon because it introduced his talent to so many people who never would have known about him otherwise
Thanks for doing Rick again. Cry for Help is my 2nd favorite song and really haven’t seen any reactions to it. The first 2 albums are some of my favorites in my music collection

Stock aitken and Waterman produced and written for many artists back in the 80's with that upbeat happy sound. I love them. You should check out Donna Summer's collaboration with them "Another Place and Time". I wore that out and still listen to it today. Kylie Minogue, bananarama, Dead or Alive, Jason Donavon and loads of others.
Oh, Rick, he’s amazing, I saw him live many years ago and his voice was insane. Cry for help is one of my favourite songs and it made me cry. ❤️ genuinely lovely fella too xx Oooh, he joined Foo Fighters on stage and he sang ‘ Never gonna give you up’ it’s absolutely brilliant! You should check that out too!! X
Great review as always. I wonder if this kind of up-beat pop could be done today. (Meaning 'Stock Aitken Waterman' kind of pop that Rick, Kylie Minogue etc. did.)
I don't know how much TV you watch, but Together Forever's chorus might sound familiar to you because there's a Campbell's Soup commercial featuring a female cover of it that's in pretty heavy rotation right now.
Stok, Aitken and Waterman very often recycled tracks that weren't hits for other artists and gave them to others - Rick inherited "Whenever .." from 1985 - ua-cam.com/video/gafz6XlmGM8/v-deo.html
Thanks for sharing his music, I've never hear him except Never Gonna Give You Up. Will be interesting to see what he's going to sing on the tour with NKOTB.
Not sure you'll see this, given this is over a year old. "Whenever You Need Somebody" was originally written for and released by O'chi Brown in 1985. I actually prefer her version better, especially the 12" version.
As always excellent choice of videos and extremely enjoyable reaction. 😉 Btw I always found that bass line on "Whenever You Need Somebody" to be absolutely insane. LOVE it.
UA-cam Rick Astley -- Never Gonna Give You Up (Glastonbury 20230) BBC Music. Rick's incredible set from this years festival in front of thousands of fans. He slayed them.
Please, have a look at Kylie Minogue and Rick's live performance. Both have been speculated to be the same person but they proved these are just rumors since 80s by appearing together. It is also a wish come true for the true Kylie fans. You will enjoy it!
Glad you found this amazing artist! My favorite singer in the whole world! As for live stuff I love his covers of Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars and Shape Of You by Ed Sheeran and Highway To Hell by AC/DC. Of course I could go on. So much great stuff on here. Search for the ones I mentioned. 👍
Rick is on tour with New kids on the block and salt n peppa . they have a new song they all recorded together with a video that pays homage to the 80s called Bring back the time . you should check it out
If you think Rick's hair looked great in this video for "Cry for Help", you should watch his "Never Knew Love" video (I'm not sure if he does his own stunts in that video).
the production u heard, was in so many songs in the late 80s in the UK. u may have heard the sound in a few Kylie songs for example. i was a kid then. also i remember rick astley being huge, then decided to retire , i think while a song he had was number 1. sick of the business. i may be wrong tho, it was eons ago 😁
So catchy, I love the way you smile, have you yet seen Rick recently he looks and sounds the same his voice live is still amazing I know he tours now again we didn't hear anything about him for years then some one started I think it's a meme if I spelt that right and it was called Rick rolled then all of a sudden Rick was back on board loving all these 8ts keep them going thankyou sure cheers me up,besides the Qween tribute have you yet planned to do George live, do I have to just suggest a song or send links I'm not sure how you do it, I've watched a few others reactions and one asks for £5 to play a song I've never ever heard you mention any thing like that, but your channel is the best thankyou Pancake , I've just watched a question time you had now I know your name is Bryson is that spelt correct? Nice name never heard that before
Thank you!! Just comment under any of my videos with your suggestions to make requests, no links are necessary. 😊 And yes, you spelled my name correctly!
Since you also love "It Would Take A Strong Man", you simply must hear the 12" single version labelled "Matt's Jazzy Guitar Mix". It is SO MUCH BETTER than the regular release. As a matter of fact, I never listen to the comparatively weak single version . Of course, I just made an exception for you because we're family. And yes, I've never quite gotten over my crush on Rick. It's kinda sad considering I was probably too old for him even then. Oh well.....
Love his voice, and you're right. His voice completely takes over and carry the songs. Most of his videos remind me of Debbie Gibson back in the 80s. I wonder if the same people produced both artists videos.
You should check out his song Hopelessly. I wanna say it came out in 91/92...I remember hearing it all the time on the radio when I was in Junior high school and it's my favorite song of his. I dont think too many people remember that song of his or they have never heard it but it's really good!
I wish I could go back to the eighties when I was young I loved dancing and besides George Rick got me on that dance floor dancing around our hand bags yes produced by same people except first song Rick wrote they also produced Kylie at first
Sorry I've seen this so late. I've been trying for ages to persuade people that there's so much more to Rick Astley. Should have known you'd get there first!
Random but I just finished watching your reactions to some George Michael videos and I thought I would recommend a great song and vid of his for you to react to lol The song is called "Amazing" and well..it is amazing lol For some reason people always overlook this one but it's actually one of my favorites, such a feel good tune.
Rick has a stellar soul voice, but I think it was miscast in the StockAikenWaterman songs. He belongs in the pantheon of the great soul singers of all time.
Check out his song ANGELS BY MY SIDE very fun video too from 2016 if you want to see/hear him as a fine older gentleman :-D I SWEAR his voice has ONLY gotten Better!
