You don't know how much this video just helpful me , I was about to have nervous breakdown. I have never seen that arrow or dot in all my years of sewing Thank You I can now complete my tasks.
Me too!!! I removed the plate because a piece of fabric was stuck then the bob in piece came off and I was going crazy trying to put it back in place for a few days.
Omg I cleaned my machine the other day. I just dusted it out and after that it stopped stitching right. So today I tried to sew again and it's still not stitching right. I watched four different videos. I came to yours and I sat here and I took a deep breath and then I took my bobbin case out and I put it back in and I took it out put it back in again lol and then finally it started sewing right. So thank you I guess all it took was patience. But it's midnight now I'm going to bed lol
GIRLLL you just saved my life 😂 I read another comment that said the same thing… but I was about to go to the store because I haven’t been sewing for months and needed to make a fit!! This was exactly what was wrong. 💓
I hope that one day you will see my comment, I want to congratulate you for your help, I had about 3 months in which my sewing machine, left the thread very loose at the bottom, I saw several videos and they made me dizzy from talking so much and I did not understand (in Spanish , my native language) .... but I saw that your machine is the same as mine and that made me see your video, I followed your instructions ... and fixed it !!! I was perfect !! I didn't even know what the problem was .... THANK YOU!!! 🥰🥰🥰
thank you - subscribed - unfortunately my problem was more complex than this, but this is a good place to start. a nickel works really well to remove and replace the screws on the cover plate (saw in a Brother video).
Thank you!...thank you!..I just bought one of those machines today for my wife and we are learning how to use it....So there we are, You saved my stitches !... I am going to keep watching your videos cause we need you!...Thanks a million!
I never post comments on anyone’s content, but I had to for this video- thank you!!! I needed a refresher on a couple of things and your other videos have helped immensely. I literally just encountered this problem and BAM! You had the answer. Thanks so much for saving me some time and my machine!!
You just saved my life, I thought I broke my mom’s sewing machine, and also it’s what wasn’t working on my sewing machine too, so I can fix both of them now, Thank you!
Thank you so much! In my several years of sewing my bobbin has never come out of place but suddenly did today. I have several commission projects I’m working on and began to panic and worry that I’d have to go to a repair shop and pay to get it fixed and I don’t have the time or money for that right now. But with your video I was able to fix it myself! Can’t tell you how much this helped
April your videos are so awesome. I had to stop in the middle of a project and align my bobbin have the exact same machine. Brother should give you a free sewing machine for all your detail videos, i learn how to do everything with my machine from your very helpful videos. Thanks again 💖🖒
Omg! After watching 100s of videos to fix my thread tangling problem, I came across this video and the issue was fixed in 2 mins. You are a genius. Thank you so much ❤️.
Thank You so much for this videos. It helped us to solved my problem. When we opened it, tangled of threads around the bobbin case. I removed it and I catch up the lower thread. I am so happy. God bless you for helping us🤗
Thank you for your video! I can not find the words to express my gratitude for my bobbin crisis and all the anxiety that came from it. It took me six days to solve the problem. Line up the arrow to the screw. I would have not been able to figure it out. Mahalo from Honolulu Hawaii
Thank you so muchhhhh!!!! I was having problems with it and I’m a beginner sewer. I’m glad that I didn’t take it to a repair shop and I did it myself with your help! You are greatly appreciated!!!
Love how you teach April... so clear, concise, but more importantly, thorough! In the middle of sewing blankets for the animal shelter today my bobbin ran out. Made a new one, inserted correctly. Still not able to get my upper thread to grab the lower bobbin thread. Going to follow this tutorial to see if that will work. Thank you very much
Hello! My sewing machine started skipping stitches! And I don’t know why! I used really thick fabric and I think I messed it up! ☹️ you’re really good at explaining! Loved this video
Try re-threading your machine and be extra careful on steps 4 and 5. Keep your thread on the right side of the slot when going up, move the wheel until you see the metal piece (take up lever) catch the thread, and then bring your thread down the left side of the slot. If you don't get the thread in that lever, your machine is going to clunk, not pick up the bottom thread, and make you think something is wrong with the bobbin. I know you asked your question 8 months ago, but maybe this will help someone else!
The bobbin does not drop all the way down into that casing it will rest along the sides. And that circle is actually a dot an indention in that piece of metal. My advice is always take a picture before you take something apart
Yeah mine is not picking up the thread either checked all over UA-cam looks like this unit is going to be returned. None of the videos on UA-cam help with having the needle pick up the thread
Thank you so much April I appreciate you doing these videos, being a first-time seamstress having a brother lx3817 machine your videos on my run to whenever I need more knowledge of the machine I didn't have the flathead screwdriver as you suggested so I used the quarter would you use in the video for the needle removal and it worked perfectly thank you so much once again for the videos you posted on this machine
Dunno if you guys gives a shit but if you are bored like me during the covid times you can stream all the new movies on Instaflixxer. Been binge watching with my gf for the last days :)
Thank you! I followed all your instructions, they were very clear, and the bobbin fit right in, but when I try to pull that bottom thread up with the top thread, it doesn't seem to turn the bobbin wheel to catch that thread. Do you have another tutorial covering that issue?
Thank you for this awesome video! Any tips as to what my problem could be if my machine is still not picking up the bobbin thread? I am a teacher and had to take it apart when a student got fabric jammed under the plate. I now have the arrow aligned like you said but it still will not pick up the bobbin thread!
You want to make sure that your thread is properly threaded through the machine first of all. And you need to make sure that when you put your bobbin in it is in the shape of a P in other words when you hold your bobbin in front of you you want your thread to come off on the left side of your bobbin not off the right side.
Hi..I'm having trouble with timing top thread not catching.iv followed your video used alan key to turn screw on the bar but how do I adjust the needle bar to line up with shuttle hook.. any help appreciated ..thanks
A close up would help a little more. I could barely see what you were talking about with the arrow. But your instructions were great, helped a lot. Thank you so much.
I have this machine with an a behind it. The bottom carriage kept jumping out off the wheel. I bought a new bobbin housing but no matter how I put it in it's not catching the bobbin threat after I get it installed. I'm thinking the part that catches the bobbin on the wheel has a small piece off of the part that catches the threat to bring it to the top of the machine. Grrr
I adjusted the bobbin like you showed in the video and set the tension in between 4-5 like yours in the video. The bottom stitch is still very loose and then clicks when it can go any.. The bottom stitch is super loose like big loops still not fixed. bummer.
Hello did you get the number to replace the case bobbin machine brother lx3817 ???? I can't find that one on the web I made a stupid thing by adjusting the screws of the case bobbin and ruining everything.
I have bought this model just some months ago. It worked well in the beginning. Then when I switched from straight to zigzag, the system didn’t switch completely, it made some noise and the needle stuck until now. Do u have any idea of how to fix , thank you
Sorry my last response was kind of ehh. But This was a very detailed video then you so much! But I am still having trouble, after I put the bobbin case back in my needle gets caught in the bobbin tray. How do I fix that so the needle will continue to thread?
Hello dear I have the same brother lx3817 machine and I think I made a mistake I don't know why I moved the two screws of the case bobbin and now the tension of the lower thread is crazy, I have made it looser and tighter at the same time and nothing is the same . I am very sorry for having done that. Do you know what the case bobbin code of the lx3817 is? It seems to me that I will have to buy it or how to adjust those screws of the case bobbin?
The spool pin is meant to hold the thread so that it moves freely while you operate the machine. What do you mean when you say its not spinning? Were you able to fill and load the bobbin?
Cool Calm April I’m having the same problem it is my spinning even after I’ve put my thread and everything back in I’ve done it like 10 times now and have been stabbed twice by the needle I need answers please help
While my machine is very new- got it less than a week ago- and didn’t need an adjustment I watched anyway, just in case. Is this something that happens a lot? Should I be concerned? And I wanted to mention that your voice and manner are both very calming which helps a lot when learning a new machine and skill. Thank you.
You just saved my life! 2 years later and this video was my golden goose to fixing a "broken" sewing machine

Thank you for this video. It wasn't what I was looking for but i was able to see what i needed to. So thank you very much for this video.
Thanks so much for this video! Saved me a trip and the expense of having to take my machine in to be looked at!
Your welcome!
Thank you for this video very helpful I used a coin to take out screws 👍🏽😊
If you know can you explain what do do when the needle keep hitting the inside like sound like the metal plate.
You can use a coin ... I used a penny to unscrew it much easier
Thanks for the tip!
@@coolcalmapril6850 I use a bobbin edge.
Penny worked great!
Thank you so much! Extremely helpful
👋👋👋👋 thanks

My sewing machine is not picking up the thread and the wheele doesn't look damaged, I only used it for a couple of months, should I buy a new one?
Cynthia Campa if it’s the wheel can something be done?
Yeah mine is not picking up the thread either checked all over UA-cam looks like this unit is going to be returned. None of the videos on UA-cam help with having the needle pick up the thread
Your timing is off.Search you tube for how to set the timing on your machine, once set you should be good to go
The same problem me too

Thank you i got to fix my wifes machine with ur help😅
Thank you! I followed all your instructions, they were very clear, and the bobbin fit right in, but when I try to pull that bottom thread up with the top thread, it doesn't seem to turn the bobbin wheel to catch that thread. Do you have another tutorial covering that issue?

A lifesaver👐🏼 I’ve been struggling with this for the past hour
I did everything exactly as you showed, but my needle still isn't catching the bobbin thread. What else can be checked?
Make sure the upper and lower threads are properly placed.
You want to make sure that your thread is properly threaded through the machine first of all. And you need to make sure that when you put your bobbin in it is in the shape of a P in other words when you hold your bobbin in front of you you want your thread to come off on the left side of your bobbin not off the right side.
Thank you! I have been fighting with my machine for an hour.
Thanks for your video, so helpful. You put me through my task
That bobbin easily falls out place, I'm about to loose my cool
Hi..I'm having trouble with timing top thread not catching.iv followed your video used alan key to turn screw on the bar but how do I adjust the needle bar to line up with shuttle hook.. any help appreciated ..thanks
Just a tip about the screwdriver issue: use a nickel to turn the screws, fits great and works well 🙂
A close up would help a little more. I could barely see what you were talking about with the arrow. But your instructions were great, helped a lot. Thank you so much.

Will this help with the stitches not doing anything..? This is my first sewing machine but it wont stitch anything after using it for a while..
I adjusted the bobbin like you showed in the video and set the tension in between 4-5 like yours in the video. The bottom stitch is still very loose and then clicks when it can go any.. The bottom stitch is super loose like big loops still not fixed. bummer.

Hello
did you get the number to replace the case bobbin machine brother lx3817 ???? I can't find that one on the web I made a stupid thing by adjusting the screws of the case bobbin and ruining everything.
at which position does the machine need to be in to be able to put back??
I have bought this model just some months ago. It worked well in the beginning. Then when I switched from straight to zigzag, the system didn’t switch completely, it made some noise and the needle stuck until now. Do u have any idea of how to fix , thank you

At first I didn't think it was going to work put I started to pedal fast and it grabbed the bottom of the bobbin.. YES!!
Oh my Goddess THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!
What would cause me to want to check on the bobbin holder. That looks a bit difficult.
I saw in another video that you can use a coin to unscrew the screws! I couldn't fit the screw driver in there and a quarter worked perfectly.
