Cannot thank you enough....I am watching this video in Nov 2024, 6 years after you uploaded this video. But still, this video is making life easier for people like me. Thanks a ton.
I remember watching this video long time ago and I didn't understand, but now rewatching it again with a bit more experience everything makes sense! Thank you!
Hi Tom....I’ve just learned more in 15 minutes than the last two months! The fog has lifted from my understanding with some of the items in here. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise!
Well, that was the most in-depth yet concise explanation of how to make adjustments in Premiere with that color chart. Thank you. I don't know why X-Rite can't explain how to use the color chips. I am bookmarking this video - thanks!
Thank you Tom! I cannot adequately explain how much this video helps me. Doing video work is not my day job. Every few months I make fitness videos for my wife’s business. And I have struggled solving the problems that you explain in this video. Now I have the solutions! One million thank you‘s!!
I have found this to be the most helpful video on UA-cam for me. I saw it years ago and based off it I learned how properly set exposure and color. Thanks, Tom.
Dude! I bought the video passaport a long time but until today I never figured out how to use it correctly! And, principally, the reflection values of each exposure line on the card! Best video of all, very well explained! This video should be on X-Rite's page! Thank you very much for helping us all.
Wow thanks so much for this video. It gave me a much needed explanation of several points I didn’t understand. Seems so basic . It’s like learning the alphabet so you can read and write. Thank you so much Tom
After yet another shoot where I swagger in and sling a camera around looking like I know what I’m doing then watching my footage, as usual, turn into out-of-date cottage cheese in the edit, it’s time to wise up on the fundamentals. What a great video Tom! Attending the University of UA-cam means endlessly sifting through information from people often as clueless as me so once again, I’m back with Tom Antos as my Sherpa. I’ll be buying both of these cards and learning how to do it properly whilst revisiting this tutorial amd having a proper good word with myself in the process. The term ‘guiding light’ has never been so appropriate.
Ummmmmm.... this was amazing..... Thorough and very easy to understand and follow along. Thank so much for taking the time to make it. Superb work! I have watched a few videos on Color correction and exposure and was not 100% clear what I needed to do in camera or post, but this clearly laid it all out. Very well done Sir!!!!
Man, the best explanation about the color balance ever. Thank you so much, I waited so long to find a video that could explain exactly how to do what you just did on this video. I look forward to continue learning from you more and more. Have a wonderful weekend. Sincerely Jorge Tampa FL

One of the best and most enlightening tutorials i have ever seen, so thank you very much Tom
I've been a big fan of yours for years and you are still proving why... Thanks for simplifying the process of getting proper exposure and colour both on location and further in post!
Tom & Curtis you both really rock in your own fields with really crystal clear and approachable explanations and way of showcasing ! really huge thanks to both of you for that ( and I am a big fan of both ) ;-) LoRenZo from France ;-)
This is by far the best practical explanation of exposure and color I've ever seen! Thanks :) You should definitely post a video with a complete exposure and color correction walkthrough for vlog!
This is an absolutely superb tutorial. As a newbie, this is one of the most succinct and usefully informative videos I've ever watched on setting the correct exposure for film work. A really big thank you from me.
My hero! The most streamlined procedure ever described. There's no substitute for practice and experience, is there? Thank you for the time and effort that you put into these videos!
I am about to go to a film school in July but I doubt they will explain these things in a such clear manner so I am gonna keep watching videos like this to make sure I stay on top of everything filmmaking and to beat my filmschool peers of course.
Probably the best explanation for the X-Rite color. Your calibration with zebra at 50% is excellent. Thanks a lot. I use 2 camera and your other tutorial is also excellent.
This is probably the more straightforward and precise video I've ever watch on the subject. I now understand what I couldn't figure out for a while now. Thanks!
I've been using X-Rite Video Passport Color Checker for the last year or so, and its awesome, as you shown in this video. My tip for you about shooting SLOG2 or 3 in a Sony camera, when it comes to exposing correcting is: Always expose your subject to 70 IRE beacause middle gray in SLOG lands in the 70 IRE valeu, and not in the usual 40 value. And by doing so, you'll get a +2, or +3 stops over warning in your camera and that's ok. Try out yourself and you'll see. Works like a charm when you bring thing to the edit room. Cheers! great video btw
Thanks for, not only explaining, but also showing how to do it and what it should look like. Best "How to" video I've seen. Thanks Tom. Going to Subscribe.
Thank you very much for the lesson. I'm just starting to do video shooting and processing and it was very interesting and useful for me to find out. for me this knowledge is priceless.

Tom! Thank you a thousand times over! This was the clearest explanation. No issue following everything whatsoever. Please continue doing tutorials, you just changed my filmmaking life!
Cannot thank you enough....I am watching this video in Nov 2024, 6 years after you uploaded this video. But still, this video is making life easier for people like me. Thanks a ton.
I watched like 5000 vídeos to learn this, n your video is the one, that's what I wanted for sooo long, thank you soooo muchhhhhhh.
But what does the fox say?
Very nicely done and explained. After 20 years of working in the industry, I've never seen such a clear, simple yet thorough explanation. Thank you!
Couldn't agree more!
Two years later I'm coming back to this video and still learning from it. Thanks Tom.

BEST video on colors and exposure. Thanks!
Definitely the clearest, and most comprehensive explanation I've seen to date...! Nice work.
right, like set the zebra to 50, but actually the grey card is 40 ire so you need to dial it down, ....blindly; very precise , in deed
I had to come back and leave a comment. This video literally changed my career! Forever grateful thank you!
