Whether you play as the legendary general or against him, the outcome of war can never be guaranteed. The course of history relies on your ability to lead your troops through the most intense battles as never seen before in a Total War game.
    About The Peninsular Campaign
The Peninsular Campaign is an independent campaign based on the conflict in the Spanish Peninsula between 1811 and 1814. It was during this era that the Spanish resistance gave their style of fighting its name: Guerrilla, or the “little war”.
Play the campaign from three different perspectives, each with a unique feel:
    • The French fight to keep resistance at bay while converting regions to their political alignment.
    • The British are very limited for regions at the start but receive enough income from Northern Europe and North America that they can afford to liberate regions back to the Spanish in return for Guerrilla aid.
    • The Spanish also have a limited starting position but have permanent access to Guerrillas for effective battlefield use against the French.
Choose one of the three nations involved - France, Great Britain or Spain - and experience one of the most intense conflicts of the Napoleonic era.
    Key Features:
    • A new and independent Iberian Peninsula campaign map featuring 32 controllable regions.
    • 5 new Guerrilla unit types, recruitable by all nations, adept at battlefield stealth and with the added ability to deploy outside of their faction's deployment zones: Tiradores (Skirmisher Infantry), Cazadores, Lanceros (Lancer Cavalry), Husares (Light Cavalry), Leader (General).
    • 28 new units in total, spread across the three playable nations including the British 95th Rifles, the French Vistula Uhlans and the Spanish Coraceros Espanoles.
    • Two new agents to enforce political conversion:
    • Provocateurs (French and British nations only) have the ability to promote anti-opposition sentiment in regions, incite unrest, decreases turn time for research and passively spy.
    • Priests (Spanish and Portuguese nations only) have the ability to promote anti-opposition sentiment in regions and incite unrest.
    • A new Guerrillero agent for the Spanish nation: similar to a Spy but with the new ability to Harass enemy armies - lock them in place for a turn and cause them attrition.
    • Political Alignment system which sees the French battle to increase pro-French sentiment throughout the peninsula.
    About Coalition Battle Pack
The Coalition Battle Pack features 6 brand new units and contains the Battle of Friedland fought between France and Russia.
The Battle of Friedland (14 June, 1807) with Napoleon's empire at its height, he took a chance and defeated Russia in detail, knocking them out of the war and bringing the Fourth Coalition to an end.
    Unit Descriptions:
    • Lifeguard Hussars: This fast light cavalry unit is best used for dealing with skirmishers and artillery who can attack from long range.
    • Coldstream Guards: Disciplined, well-trained and respected, these elite foot guards inspire nearby troops in battle.
    • Archduke Charles' Legion: This highly-disciplined line infantry regiment excels at weapons drill and accuracy.
    • Luetzow's Freikorps: Swift light cavalry, the riders of Luetzow’s Freikorps are excellent in melee and on the charge.
    • Life Hussars: Sabre-armed light cavalry, the Life Hussars are powerful on the charge and effective in melee combat.
    • Semenovski Lifeguard: Immaculately turned out, these elite guards have excellent morale and are superb when used against skirmish troops and artillery.

Hey Taff, just a couple of things you might not have realised… (hopefully you take this as friendly advice that will save you frustration in the future, rather than typical online hate…)
No offence, but in the siege battle, the AI was not at fault, you were…
So, the reason the light infantry were running all over the place (including running out of the fort) was because you set them on skirmish mode and they were being approached by the enemy. Personally, I never use skirmish mode because they run away when you really don’t want them to. They have a mind of their own, and it becomes annoying, but, unfortunately, that’s just what the order does. That’s also an issue with ordering your light infantry to attack an enemy unit while they’re in skirmish mode - they will try to shoot at them from a distance, and never charge them the way you expected them to when you asked them to support your second light infantry unit being attacked by cavalry.
Second, you actually DID order your grenadiers to fight hand-to-hand, because they were out of ammunition and they had no other way to engage the enemy.
Also, remember when I said it’s best to never tell your troops to attack specific units, but instead to position them in such a way that the AI will fire on them on their own? The reason is that, if the enemy unit you’ve targeted runs away and goes out of range, your own unit will try to follow them to continue attacking. That’s why your infantry was moving into the line of fire; they were following your orders.
Another problem with that is when you order your cannons to attack specific units (which I think I mentioned before). It became particularly obvious (and something I’ve never seen before) when they started firing grape shot directly into the fort’s walls because you ordered them to shoot at a unit that had moved into the fort. Something else I noticed, but never realised before (I’d never tried it) is that artillery doesn’t seem to be able to fire grape shot at units on top of a wall. I guess that kind of makes sense, but I’ve never brought my artillery close to a fortress to find out.
Also, just generally, be careful with friendly fire - it really is lethal in empire/Napoleon. One way you can assess the impact is to look at the after-action report: something I worked out recently (it’s actually pretty cool that it works) is that, when it lists casualties and the number of kills each side got, they don’t always add up. For example, it might say that the enemy killed 100 of your troops, but, at the same time, it tells you that you suffered 120 casualties. My theory is that the difference between the two numbers is actually a result of friendly fire (i.e. 20 troops will have been killed by your own men). After a battle, it might be worth checking that, just to see whether you’re keeping your men safe, because I remember a battle you had where the only casualties you had on your side were a result of friendly fire (it was a battle where you were mopping up the remains of an army). Just something to be aware of.
Lastly, again, unlike Rome total war, you need to keep an eye on your men’s exhaustion - empire/Napoleon is much more realistic, in that making them run will tire them out quite quickly, particularly when you order them to run up hills.
    Just three FYIs to finish.
    1. If you hold the space bar during a battle, it will show you where you’ve ordered your men to move. Doing this really helps to make sure that you don’t overlap your units when you order them to move close to one another (for example, to attack enemies in a V formation). It means you can fine-tune the positions of your men before they get in range of the enemies guns. It also helps prevent friendly fire.
    2. If you order your men along the battlements of a fort you are capturing, they will take up positions facing the inside of the fort and shoot down at the enemies in range - it’s a really good way to keep your men safe while doing maximum damage to your enemy.
    3. If you hold shift, you can give your men multiple movement orders. For example, say you want to move infantry from one side of your artillery to the other, but don’t want them to walk in front of the guns. What you’re doing now (and what I did for years) is to give them the order to move behind the cannons, wait for them to get there, then give them another order to move them where you want them (and sometimes the line will still move in front of your cannons, just because of how long it is). If you’re being attacked from multiple sides at once and have to manage the rest of your troops, you can even forget to issue the second order because you’re worrying about other things (at least, that’s what would happen to me). However, if you hold shift, you can give all the movement orders in one go and you won’t have to worry about micromanaging or forgetting about them. It changed my life when I found out you could do that! :p
One thing I’ve been wondering since the second episode, though… why didn’t you attack Oldenburg? It had no allies, was directly to the north of one of your regions, and, i think, might even have a port. It really confused me when you went for saxony instead :s

thankyou for the info, the reason we didnt go for Oldenburg was purely based on what the comments wanted to see, If I ask a question on the video you can garentee 10 "best was to do things" but I went with what seemed the most popular. This series is to entertain, so if things go wrong then thats part of the show, while frustrating for some its the jourmey we are looking to enjoy not just the final outcome :-)

A fun series and I really love the music during the opening of each episode! It reminds me of a computer game I had decades ago... I think it was called Waterloo maybe? Anyway you could play as several armies involved in western Europe at the time and there were several set piece battles to take part in and the music was awesome. I was terrible at it, but it was fun.

I have "started recording" a new bomber series....I have a few issues as they start with night missions which make it impossible for the viewer to really see whats going on, UA-cams video encoding also darkens vidoes so I'm trying to work out a solution to show these missions without it being a total black screen or a white haze with the gamma truned right up
