    About The Peninsular Campaign
The Peninsular Campaign is an independent campaign based on the conflict in the Spanish Peninsula between 1811 and 1814. It was during this era that the Spanish resistance gave their style of fighting its name: Guerrilla, or the “little war”.
Play the campaign from three different perspectives, each with a unique feel:
    • The French fight to keep resistance at bay while converting regions to their political alignment.
    • The British are very limited for regions at the start but receive enough income from Northern Europe and North America that they can afford to liberate regions back to the Spanish in return for Guerrilla aid.
    • The Spanish also have a limited starting position but have permanent access to Guerrillas for effective battlefield use against the French.
Choose one of the three nations involved - France, Great Britain or Spain - and experience one of the most intense conflicts of the Napoleonic era.
    Key Features:
    • A new and independent Iberian Peninsula campaign map featuring 32 controllable regions.
    • 5 new Guerrilla unit types, recruitable by all nations, adept at battlefield stealth and with the added ability to deploy outside of their faction's deployment zones: Tiradores (Skirmisher Infantry), Cazadores, Lanceros (Lancer Cavalry), Husares (Light Cavalry), Leader (General).
    • 28 new units in total, spread across the three playable nations including the British 95th Rifles, the French Vistula Uhlans and the Spanish Coraceros Espanoles.
    • Two new agents to enforce political conversion:
    • Provocateurs (French and British nations only) have the ability to promote anti-opposition sentiment in regions, incite unrest, decreases turn time for research and passively spy.
    • Priests (Spanish and Portuguese nations only) have the ability to promote anti-opposition sentiment in regions and incite unrest.
    • A new Guerrillero agent for the Spanish nation: similar to a Spy but with the new ability to Harass enemy armies - lock them in place for a turn and cause them attrition.
    • Political Alignment system which sees the French battle to increase pro-French sentiment throughout the peninsula.
    About Coalition Battle Pack
The Coalition Battle Pack features 6 brand new units and contains the Battle of Friedland fought between France and Russia.
The Battle of Friedland (14 June, 1807) with Napoleon's empire at its height, he took a chance and defeated Russia in detail, knocking them out of the war and bringing the Fourth Coalition to an end.
    Unit Descriptions:
    • Lifeguard Hussars: This fast light cavalry unit is best used for dealing with skirmishers and artillery who can attack from long range.
    • Coldstream Guards: Disciplined, well-trained and respected, these elite foot guards inspire nearby troops in battle.
    • Archduke Charles' Legion: This highly-disciplined line infantry regiment excels at weapons drill and accuracy.
    • Luetzow's Freikorps: Swift light cavalry, the riders of Luetzow’s Freikorps are excellent in melee and on the charge.
    • Life Hussars: Sabre-armed light cavalry, the Life Hussars are powerful on the charge and effective in melee combat.
    • Semenovski Lifeguard: Immaculately turned out, these elite guards have excellent morale and are superb when used against skirmish troops and artillery.

Nice to see you using the shift and space bar tricks! :)
One bit of advice: I find sieging towns is often more trouble than it’s worth. It just keeps an army occupied that you could otherwise use elsewhere; the longer the siege lasts, the more damaged buildings become and the more expensive it becomes to fix them; and, considering you’ve already crushed their army and effectively fought the battle that would have taken the town if YOU had attacked rather than them, you’ve only delayed the tax revenue and army replenishment that you would have gained over the last few turns. If the enemy force was much stronger than you, sieging would make sense, but your army has already crushed theirs - all you have to do is walk in and the city would be yours.
One more FYI (I never mentioned it before because I hadn’t seen an opportunity for you to do it): sometimes in the battles, you get low walls in some of the fields. One day I experimented to see if moving my men behind the walls would offer them a bit of cover and keep them safe. When I tried to position my men, though, as I moved my cursor next to the wall, its icon/appearance changed. Out of curiosity, I right-clicked and dragged as if to position the men, and the order appeared to automatically place the men against the wall. Considering that was what I wanted to do in the first place, I positioned them along a part of the wall that would be ideal for me and, what really surprised me (pleasantly) was that the first row of men actually crouched behind the wall, literally taking cover! I even found that, if there’s a break in the wall (for a gate, for example) your men will separate so that they can be either side of the gap, remaining in cover! They’ll also wrap around a corner of the wall, and follow any other angles in the wall, rather than having half of the unit out of position.
Unfortunately, the rows behind the first don’t crouch and have a tendency to get shot, but that’s no different from when the unit is STANDING to fire. In fact, it’s better, because when they’re standing, the front rank (the rank actually firing at the enemy) gets shot and it takes a while for your men to reposition and replace the dead man; when they’re taking cover behind a wall, the people doing the shooting don’t get killed (as often), so there are no gaps to fill. After using that mechanic a bit, I started to find that it’s actually a really good way to defend against an enemy bayonet charge, because the enemy have to climb over the wall before they get to you.
One thing that is a bit clunky with it, though, is that, if you walk another unit through a unit taking cover, it can push them out of position slightly (as it does when you move units through standing infantry and cavalry, too), which, unfortunately, can sometimes push some of the men in your front rank over the wall out of cover. You can reposition them without any issues, but it can be a bit annoying - although the fact that they’ve implemented a system like that absolutely outweighs the annoyance.
Whenever I see a low wall in a battle, the first orders I give are generally to move one or two units to take cover behind a wall (if it’s facing the direction of the enemy). You should give it a try, if you get the chance! :)

32:12 if you hadnt unlimbered your guns till you had rest of inf in place you'd have been fine did make me laugh at panic put the stakes out that made sure no one got a shot off lol(then you blame them for not doing it. takes ages to place them) other than that the whole thing was a complete bollox lol one gun left and you still trying to fire grape ffs and STOP puttin inf in 4 rows its daft look at how many can fire should be 2 rows so all can fire 3 at most

Spreading the units out too much can be dangerous: if you need to reposition them, they have to travel much further; a volley from the enemy can take your unit out VERY quickly, because more of them are exposed and there are no ranks to replace them; the unit runs out of ammunition very quickly; cavalry charges will immediately destroy the unit, as there’s no third/fourth rank to stop the horses in the centre of your unit, where your men can surround and overwhelm them (instead, the cavalry will split your unit in two and kill their morale). Of course, you want as many men to fire at once as possible (in Empire TW, you could research ‘fire in rank’, which was devastating because after each rank fired their shot, they would crouch and allow the rank behind them to fire), but you also don’t want to spread them too thinly. They didn’t do that in reality, after all, and they knew what they were doing.
Also, there’s not much he could have done with the reenforcing artillery. Not unlimbering the guns would just mean they get killed without fighting back. The only issue was when he fired grape directly into his own men. Apart from that, there wasn’t much more he could do.

@@isolated_matrix very rarly are you gona move your centre troops and still getting way more fire than having half not firing at all troops on flanks wheeling to meet enrmy flank wheel from a point next to nearest other unit so works very quick thin red line was real so your aguement dont hold water rank fire was usually 3 row so near constant fire

      @isolated_matrix Рік тому

@@williamarmstrong1050 I’m not sure I understand much of your reply… If I’m right, now you’re suggesting that only the centre troops need to be thinned out? Because you didn’t say that before. Either way, it doesn’t make ammo or the thinning of your men any less of an issue…
If you’re talking about the event in the Crimean war, you might want to take a look at what actually happened… the cavalry never made it to the British line and, according to some, never intended to, so ‘your arguement dont hold water’.
