Hello I found your site because I am researching pros and cons on renting a camper. only watched 2 of your videos and have learned so much already. Thank you
Welcome aboard!
If we do decide to go this route. Would you recommend buying a new or used camper?
This will be for us to use as well for vacations.
I think there are pros and cons to both. A newer RV is more appealing to rent and broaden your customer base, but the higher payment take a hit on your profits. The first two RV we rented we bought new, but we got them pre-covid when there were actual deals to be made. Our current rig we bought over a year ago and it's used.
We rent 2 campers out ourselves and have noticed that we really don't get much cold traffic from the major rental websites. Most of our 20 + rentals we have are all self generated. Do you get most of your own rentals or mainly from random people off the major rental sites.
That interesting, it is quite the opposite from us. Before we switched from a bunkhouse to a couple's camper, we did get a lot of repeat business, but almost all our rentals come from the platforms. Are you using Facebook market place, craig's list, word of mouth??
@DriveNorth we are in many local facebook groups that we make postings in on the days they allow small business promoting, some facebook marketplace, and then repeat/word of mouth. We have only had 2 rentals this year that we came to us from the major platforms that didn't involve self-promotion, and we have around 20 booked trips so far for the season
