I included both boxes since we are talking about the same triplane. Only difference between the two boxes are the PE parts included in the profipack. In general, both boxes are just excellent. Detail is there, everything fits like a glove. Beautiful colored instructions. Many decal options included, and the decals are of fantastic quality. I first worked on the weekend edition. Weekend for those who work on their projects on a regular basis because it took me a month. So the monthly edition for me. This is what happens when you work only weekends and in between chores. In any case, never claimed to be a pro. It shows in the work too since it does not compare to the work of professionals. The point is to encourage people to simply do it for fun. So only two items for you to watch out or consider. First has to do with the color. I noticed that Eduard for the same decal option might use a different numbered paint. Noticed this 3 times up to now. For example for the red/white plane I chose to do, 479/17, Lt. August Raben, Jasta 18, Montingen (Montoy-Flanville now) It says to use H327 red for the plane and H3 red for the squares under the crosses. I don’t have access to these colors (Gunze), but for the life of me I could not find a similar color to one of the reds from another company. I then went to the Eduard site and noticed after accessing the manual for the Fokker 1/48 profipack package (8162) that they had the same decal option. Looking at the instructions Eduard says to paint the whole plane with H3 and does not mention a second color for the squares under the crosses. So it isn’t even just using H327. It uses the color for the squares for the whole plane. At the end I simply decided to paint orange the squares under the crosses so do not follow my example. Second comment is to be careful with the decals. They are fine. Simply the crosses used are thin and while attempting to place them correctly they might bend or get twisted. That is why I used the thick crosses on top. I ruined one of the two of the correct ones. Notice that the crosses on the underside of the wings are different (correct ones). So again do not follow my example. Now to the profipack. Here I have to put my hands up and admit defeat. Profipack is not for me. For sure, not at this size. I saw an awesome video of this plane on youtube and I simply bow down to the work this person did. Watch this video and learn. ua-cam.com/video/RM9_UFWvlz0/v-deo.html Wow. I of course, broke some pieces while attempting to put them in place. I could not color them and in all honesty, if you are like me working on and off every few days this is just too much of a hustle. I don’t know at the 1/48 size but at 1/72 definitely not for me. I have another profipack box and I will simply ignore the PE parts. I will pretend is a weekend box. Make sure you watch the video and learn from a master how to handle PE at this size.
