That is a different way of doing helical stripes from the one I have used. Very interesting, because I now see how to create stripes with more than two colours. Thank you.

What a terrific tutorial. Because I knit this "continental" way, and my friends seem to all knit the English way, they can't really help me much when I run into difficulties. As a relatively new knitter, I then turn to UA-cam for help, but many of the videos are also done by English style knitters. So happy I found your channel, I am now a subscriber. Thank you! ~Diana K.

Thanks for showing this technique in such a clear manner. For those wondering how to start the pattern, she does mention it at least once during the explanation. Also, that last shot of the beginning rows shows the staggered starts.

Thank you so much for this video! It took me a couple of tries to begin until I understood the staggered starts but now it's going along swimmingly! Brilliant! Pine green, lighter green, and lilac socks! And I also knit Continental style. Thank you! 🎉
p.s. It helped me to turn on the closed captioning. The CC button at the upper right of the screen. 👍

Thank you for this. I had done a hat where the stripes were 2 rounds high and used the TECHknitting method of slipping the first stitch in the 2nd round of a color. It worked really well and I don't mind the tidy row of colors being carried up the back of the hat -- it helps me find the back. I didn't understand the helix/barberpole method that blog explained back then, but thanks to your video I get it. Making a baby hat right now and I can *almost* keep up with you.

all you do is add the first color and knit 24 stitches or whatever your divisible number is then place a marker and add your second color knitting 24 more sitches and continue this way. the last color you use will not end at 24 sttices it will go on to the first marker. always look inside and and pick up the color strand that is waiting for you at each marker . hope this helps.

Sure. I'm making mittens that way and the ribbing looks ok. You get the purl bumps on the bottom of course. Personally, I'd prefer a sock with a solid top or toe, depending on your way of knitting, and start the helix for the rest of the article.
