  • We scratch the surface of DG's future-focused cabinet simulator/headphone amp/device of many things.
    It began as a NAMM problem fix, and grew into one of the most versatile pedals (even thogh it's not really a pedal per se), and it's a revolutionary way to put the magic of cabinet simulation at your fingertips. Or feet.

    Always love your vibe Amos, so much fun and really informative reviews. Hope you’re enjoying Australia on the Eras Tour, so sad I can’t make it along to see you guys.

    Really enjoyed the demo and how you seamlessly switched configs and displayed them on the screen as they changed.

    Great product and my maiden Darkglass purchase. I use this with my Ampeg SVT Preamp and it sounds awesome. Tracked a session recently and it sat in the mix beautifully. Sounds great through IE’s at RHSL as well. Very functional and versatile product.
    App is great and headphone amp has enough juice. A bit of a no brainer really and just as useful for guitarists. Can’t wait to use it live as my DI. I also have a Cab M and this sounds better IMO and much better value.
    Thanks again Amos and well done DG! 🙏👍

    Gear doest make a bass player better by itself, but… but I agree that your build up your tone, and all the tests give you motivation and joy. Music is playing the instrument first of all, having your own idea of what music/style/songs you like and the process of finding the right gear. From strings, bass guitars, amps pedals amd everything else. All that is simply fun, and makes you test, play play play etc.
    once again best available video explaining this piece of equipment. Thanks my friend.
    Just small tip, or request for next videos, I would like to see even for 3-4 seconds each side of the pedal, the four sides, to see what’s in each one. In this video we couldn’t wpsee the input side. Beside that you rock man. Keep on going.

    Had one for a year and just used it as a headphone amp. But now your demo gives me ideas about using it on my pedalboard. Great work, Amos. Thanks!

    Why this pedal is nearly really good but not quite, is that you can't really use it as a pre amp without adding extra bits. It has an instrument in and out but it hums like mad when you use it like you would a DI. It is a good headphone amp, but if they'd put a line level socket out with the ability to turn the cab on/off through the line out seperate to the balanced out, it would be complete. I might look at getting a headphone out to line level impedence adaptor but will probably move it on. It's almost great, but incomplete... Probably just need a multi effects unit. I just don't wish they'd excluded the seperate headphones in place of a line level out. Two headphones is so niche.

    I've had my eye on a Microtubes X Ultra for some time now, but have had trouble pulling the trigger as I do have a sansamp and in many ways they overlap duties. How does this element compare to the onboard cab sim available on the x ultra? Would it work after the sansamp and do the same job as the x ultra?

    In your demonstration were the attack and release setting in the Darkglass Software set to reset?

    I really enjoy your videos and love some darkglass gear. I was wondering would it be worth replacing the element at the end of my Chain with the Noble pre amp? I have never ran anything with tubes but I am debating ordering the noble.

      They definitely have different functions… You’re talking about replacing a dedicated cabinet simulator with a tube preamp. That being said, I absolutely love the noble, and I use it on almost everything. You might consider getting the noble, placing it before the element, taking a clean signal out of the XLR of the noble, and then a Cabinet simulation signal from the element

    So I use the Neural dsp ultra plugin with my Warwick gnome i amp. I’m wondering if I could benefit from this, or just get a vox headphone amp. My Warwick amp already acts as an Interface

    Man, I hate to say it but micro tubes alone just made such a better sound for me. The element was always really muddy, I didnt like any sound of it. It reminds me a bit to my cheaper cort bass, which had really bad hhum up from 4khz so I always had a hard high cut on it. Really really muffled.... I only record DI with a preamp and many EQ tweaking, than I have the option to engage bigsky cabsim, which is ok. I guess no element for me

    • @AmosHeller
      @AmosHeller  2 роки тому

      It’s definitely not for everyone. I rarely use cab sims myself

      @@AmosHeller Which initially confused me, as with guitar an IR changes everything. But Bass speakers are far more linear than guitar cabs

    • @AmosHeller
      @AmosHeller  2 роки тому

      I think it works as an auxiliary channel to mix your DI signal with. Routing all signal through it isn’t something I do a lot.

      @@AmosHeller Is it a massive improvement? Otherwise I will keep the money and save it towards my partcaster J bass
      I allready have a full pedalboard with a preamp drive and many tone shaping drives and a cabsim from the bigsky which is a lot more bassful than my iridium. Plus a presonus preamp. Pretty satisfied with my gnarly p bass sound

      Vox headphone amp is handy, works on batteries so it lets me sit on the couch without a wire. Would recommend a plug with Bluetooth.
