    2 things i noticed.should there be a 1mm spacer underneath the 1st row of tiles that sit on the shower tray so that the silicone can go in to the gap? and with the wall tiles gong past the sides of the tray,would it not look better to have a square chrome edging strip instead of seeing a raw edge of tile especially the bumpy ceramic white tiles?

    Hope that's a stone resin tray for that quadrant, seen underfloor heating cables ruin Acrylic trays when they're that close. Also Grout between resin trays and tiles and silicone between Acrylic and tiles? Not sure on your preference but I tend to find resin and tile has a similar stability where as Acrylic always gives more than tile wrecking the joint. Pucker job as always though, hope the finger slice during that second en suite wasn't too bad.

    • @gregneale4455
      @gregneale4455 3 роки тому

      Hi Effer
      The trays and internal corners will be siliconed after all trades are finished so hope this helps clear that up. Also I wish it was a finger slice I broke a finger in the second ensuite but it is what it is luckily I can trowel with both hands

    Lovely job Greg 👍🏻 those clips to stop the tiles stepping/lipping are the bee’s knees ,so am I right in thinking that they must have a fracture line built in? And can you get them for different grout thickness. 😁

    • @BuildWithAE
      @BuildWithAE  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Mark,
      You are correct in thinking about the fracture line. Once the adhesive has dried, the clips are tapped with a rubber mallet, and they simply snap off. The wedge can be reused and the remnants of the clip gets grouted over.
      I believe the clips come in three different widths 1, 2 and 3mm.
      Hope this helps.
      All the best, John 😊

    Picking the right adhesive is where I am struggling, I have some thick ceramic tiles to put on the floor and walls, they’re 600x600. I’ve never done this before so I don’t want adhesive that’s going to go off really quick, would you recommend any particular adhesive?

    Hi Greg, at 9.30 and 19.10 when your grinding the tile im sure it was deliberate that you done that by an open window to get some airflow. Im ashamed to say that despite tiling for over 30 years i did not take care of my lungs. Not good, grinding creates a lot of nasty dust. Recently brought a large powerful 36" fan which i position pointing out of an open window and i set my bench up right in front of the fan. Now when i grind the fan pulls the air away from me and blows it straight out the window. Also good when sweeping the floor, just sweep towards the fan and dust sucked straight out the window. Some may say wear a mask but i have a beard and they don't work if you have a furry face! Nice work buddy.

      @@Etherglide I hear you. I work in a lot of mansion blocks in central London, often quite a few floors up and im not walking up and down stairs all day! And as for cutting outside on the pavement, no chance in those parts of town.

    With the floor tiling how are you able to walk on them while laying? Rapid set or come back to finish the next day?? Great job!! 👍🏻

    Fantastic video guys!! Such a pleasure to watch you guys work. Can I ask where you got the underfloor hearing from? I know you said the name but couldn’t hear it properly. Also can I ask what tile spacers you are using? Many thanks in advance!

    Great job 👏
    Only thing I would say is I'm surprised you don't put a spacer on top of the tray, as that way when you silicone the tray round it has a good space for it to go in.
    I've been to so many jobs where tilers sit the tiles directly on the tray & then the seal becomes compromised & water penetration occurs later down the line. Thats just a plumbers view is all!! To be fair it is a debatable point!
    Btw where is the job site ?

    Fantastic work. You have inspired me to give it a fo. Quick question what size of notched trowel are you using I'm installing a 600x300mm 10mm porcelain tile and am going to use a 10mm square notched trowel what would you recommend?

    • @peterevans1371
      @peterevans1371 11 місяців тому

      Expert tiler here I would not use a 10mm trowel it's too small go for 12mm or even 15mm is what we use, 40 years experience

    Hi Greg love your work, im a Handyman in essex just outside London, and a job has come up for me to tile a bathroom 600 x300mm porcelain tiles, i have to strip off old tiles, plasterboard etc, nightmare, i bet you have done a few of them in your time. But i need your advise, i have to start from scratch on a stud partition wall wall where the bath with shower will go, would you use plasterboard and tank it, or hardie backer boards or those lighweight polystyrene cement faced boards or something else,?? Also what thickness?. Keep up the videos Greg. Thanks Kevin
