As a Duke fan, Duke's chances hinge on whether Riley Leonard plays. If he does, and he should only play if he is 100% given the pass rush FSU brings, it is going to be an interesting matchup; if he doesn't, the path for a Duke victory becomes razor thin. Regardless of what happens on offense, Duke's defense is legit, but FSU is going to test it in ways no other team has this season.
FSU has the advantage with talent by a good bit. The Noles have been a tic or two away from reaching the ceiling. I believe we come very close Sat night in a loud and proud Doak Campbell stadium to a "complete game". Duke is playing very good but FSU will hit overdrive, finally. Go Noles 🏹💯💥 for the big win.
@@XsandNoles True. We're better, especially going forward with each game as coaches find the right group or groups that perform the best. The rest of my point is very valid. Go Noles 🏹💯💥
I love your videos!!! I just have a feeling that fsu offense will break out and prove to doubters that we are a legitimate playoff contender. Go Noles!!!!
May be able to take advantage of the drop eight and get Benson on those quick outside zone runs. Benson with a head of steam and having the corners having to make a tackle sounds good to me.
Subbed! I enjoy your breakdowns. You also do it with a calm voice which is different than a lot of other “x’s and o’s” type videos. Good stuff, man! Go Noles!
FSU all day. They seem to be fixing issues on the fly and all the players want a title...they are gonna get it. Plus they are in Doak....FSU fans wont let the energy drop. They should be pretty explosive out the gate. FSU is 23/24 in the redzone this season
BIG GAME! Thanks Kev for these quality reviews. Maybe we get the upper hand because of multiplicity of elite targets on offense? We need Jaheim to have a BREAKOUT game! Keep it up and GO NOLES! >-;;;;-;;;;->
Great content. Duke probably surprised everyone that doesn't follow their football program closely, but they're a very decent team this year. I'm glad we got them half way through the season so we know what kind of threat they pose.
Congrats to FSU on the win. Jordan Travis was a total class act in his post-game interview on ABC (probably something y'all are used to hearing). I wish FSU well going forward.
Solid analysis, but I also think Duke has never faced a top 4 opponent that has 100% of their attention. Doak Saturday night homecoming is an environment like no other and will be a factor for a freshman QB. FSU is probably the best team in America with momentum and I don’t see Duke stopping a focused FSU. If FSU plays well we win regardless of what Duke does. It’s about us, FSU 45 Duke 17. Go Noles!
No one’s taking the ACC for granted this year. That’s the real win 😈😈😈 FSU by a Touchdown atleast. This is the best Duke Team they’ve Fielded against us no matter what QB plays! Love to see it!
They can look similar unless you know what to look for. Same with down if the guard has to log instead of kick. Sounds like you know that though. 😉 I wish FSU ran more pin and pull. It's my second favorite play.
While I think this matchup favors us, I am still nervous for some reason. But, I think if we can be successful throwing vertically and make some contested catches on offense and get pressure/get home on defense, we should be able to win this pretty convincingly
Duke fan here, your analysis was solid. The only thing is Elko and KJ really play their cards close to his vest. He really hasn't used most of the playbook yet. We saw a lot more the ND game but all of the other games were just like the State game. Jordan Waters and J. Moore are problems. We're down our TE so that will be interesting to see if the backup will have another successful week. Most people don't pick up on the subbing strategy good job.
Worth mentioning home field advantage. Duke hasn’t been challenged with anything close to a daunting road environment yet. Doak is going to be off the rails. May not be quite as easy for their OL to communicate on pin and pull plays, as an example.
I have a feeling this game will be a big game for the FSU RB's catching passes out of the back field. Maybe short passes in the flat to Destyn as well. Think Ward to Dunn dinks that got 8 - 20 yards type of game. This will open the top for Coleman and Wilson
Playing a night game at home should be an advantage! They havent played much away from home and Doak should be jumping. Im very nervous, as Duke is good, but if our tram xomes motivated and disciplined, i think we will win.
@xsandnoles: can you give your thoughts on where Coleman, Bell & Jonny are on field at same time, why don’t we see more to the slot receiver? I would think the slot could do some work. Your thoughts?
So offensively we have to establish the run game immediately, I think the offense should run the entire first half of the game. That sounds crazy but the reason is 2 fold, one wearing out the D line and 2 clock management. In both of our closest games between BC and Clemson, there was a 5 -7 minute difference in time of possession. They chewed the clock and we lost opportunities to get the ball. I would also have Hill behind center for the first snap, this is just because there is less film of him than our other RBs. We have the RBs and we should rotate them continuously, I would also allow Jordan to run in this game and give the offense another dimension. On Defense, I would tighten up an area that we have been difficient in and that is containing the edges. We shut down the run game and one of the best QBs in the country in LSU in this case we should have no issues crushing the pocket around the QB and taking his checkdowns away with good coverage. I would also assign Lundy as a QB spy, in every game with a slippery QB where he was the spy we shut the QB sneak option down.
Yeah I mean there's balance in all things. I think Duke wants to push you to run the ball fully knowing that it's really hard to sustain a drive that way.
@@XsandNoles Great point, do you think they have faced a running offense as good as FSU? Please don't take that as I'm being a smart ass, Im really curious about your opinion I watch your content and respect your opinion. ND seemed very pass heavy and Clemson with a new QB I felt didn't have an offensive preference. I love that we can pass on almost everybody but I feel without the physicality of the run game we lose the clock control we need.
Going on long drives, taking up lots of time lessons possessions for you as well. The way to add possessions is to be hyper aggressive on defense. Force Duke into 3rd and long and punt. 3 amd outs. Cause turnovers. Maybe you give up a big play a few times but you get the ball back. Duke should try their best to slow the game down by playing a 2 deep look, keeping everything in front of them and force FSU to run it. The more possessions FSU has the better chance they have of winning the game. Time of possession has little if any effect on the outcome of the game unless you are out talented.
FSU has emerged as one of those teams that literally play to the competitive level of their opponents. When they play a good team, they play up and when they play an average team, they play average and when they play a bad team, they play bad. I think this Saturday night they will have to play up to win it.
@@XsandNoles You are correct but that was unusual for them. I hope they have turned the corner on not playing up to the talent level they have on the roster in every game. Go Noles.
They may put up a fight. However, let's not forget their struggle with ND which I feel FSU is way better than. The defense is playing lights out. If the offense shows up, FSU is winning hands down
Big wide receivers across the line a threat of the running back a threat of a quarterback that can run good luck playing man to man defense see what happens the only chance they got to be successful on offense if Leonard is playing quarterback the other quarterback only pass the ball 14 times last game so good luck with that
Great video. I question the accuracy of stats when the first game for Clemson was w/ new OC and the opponents otherwise haven’t really been so stellar. Plus so many home games. We will see.
I see Duke's defense bending but not breaking. Duke will not be able to sustain long drives, but they won't have to because their defense should be able to force turnovers if FSU is sloppy--and FSU has had some very sloppy moments this year--that will make for short fields. FSU simply is not going to be ready for the kind of test they will Saturday, and I actually have Duke with a better than 40% chance of pulling the upset.
Interesting. FSU has overall been one of the best teams in the country in terms of turnovers. They have had some drop issues but don't typically give short fields. I actually think FSU is top 5 in terms of starting field position for both sides of the ball.
Guys what if Riley Leonard's ankle isnt as bad as reported....Not sure I trust his "reported" status....He may come out ready to play...never underestimate your opponent!!
Hell no Duke is Duke best team they had was 2013 and you know what we did to that, I wouldn't care if Lenard had played or will play chuck up the L GO NOLES
If he plays at 70% on an ankle injury (high ankle sprains linger for weeks and are very painful) he probably won't be able to run well and maybe makes it worse, ruining the rest of Duke's season. I would not play him unless he is 100% recovered.
Norvells offensive game planning vs dukes defensive gameplanning is what makes me nervous. Norvells play calling to me is a weakness... This game will say a lot
Norvell is a great play caller. I think they have been trying to figure some things out on offense because of all of the new pieces. I think he has also figured out what they are now. I do believe what some people see as play calling is JT trying to force the issue at times. But, if the reads say to throw the 9 then you throw the 9.
Two big advantages for FSU. 1. The game is at Doak. 2. Leonard will not play or play hurt. The only disadvantage is on the FSU defense because they are horrible against running QBs.
@@pitbull912808 You both need to rewatch the LSU game, Jayden Daniels is one of the best rushing and passing QBs in the nation.
