  • sip vape ignition on a quattrini m244, HOW2 set ignition timing.
    needed tools:
    1: measuring tape or paper
    2: sliding caliper
    3: marker and knife
    4: piston stopper
    5: ignition timing light
    6: 12v atterie
    7: tools for removing flywheel
-holder, - puller, 19 socket, torque key
How to find the right value for variable ignition, like this one.
So the static value is 17-18 degree for all tunings 177-244cc
Two ways are getting you there, or thats at least the way i do it:
    1) where does the engine have its biggest power? put 17-18 degree there
    2) in which rev area will you ride the engine the most? put 17-18 degree there.
from these points you go back on the ignition graph and you have your starting set value.
While Cruising the engine gets the hottest, so having 18 degrees there is not such a bad thing.

Hi there FMP. I just want to ask why you chose to go with Sip/Vape ignition? I like it but I’ considering buying pinasco or maybe the polini because they have option for electronic start on their flywheel. Which one would you recommend?

cause its proper quality, look up VAPE its a czech company that is doing this for a long time. They know what they are doing.
All the other ignitions - no. Matter which brand - are the same asia. Stuff, see the 4 coil statoe, just different labeled. Check the typical pages and ebay, you will find the coils for 20.- 😉
AND they have very low power in low rev, it looks like 6vold oldtimer then
Vape provides a lot of power ans its pickup coil contacts are vertical!

Hi there. Thanks for all your videos. Super helpful!
I am going to install a SIP VAPE static ignition on my 1988 Vespa T5. The original manual has the ignition point at 16 degrees BTDC. Does this stay the same when changing the ignition system to the SIP VAPE? I see you mention 18 degrees as the ignition point. Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks again : )

please hint. My Vespa PS uses CDI magnetic ignition, still uses Platina. The beginning of the napur's position in front of A (clinking sound machine), after that I shifted backwards in the middle between A and IT (the machine was no longer narrow but the engine temperature was very hot as fast as tens of KM). Please advise and hint ... 🙏

you should set it in detail, also to see if the ignition point is stable = the ignition ok
what about fuel supply? ensure enough fuel for the engine

Tell me do you have a video on setting up points with timing. I have a vespa p150x 1983. As you can see from my profile picture. I love the P200e for more power and electronic cdi but this scooter landed in my lap a few years ago and i could not say no as it was in a good condition but I was never good with points and condensors. My problem always was that if she idles for about 5min she would foul the plug. I already have changed the points and condensor but I notice that my exhause is wet. The only way I could sorts of remody this problem was to set the carb as lean as i can. To me it looks like the spark is not strong enough at idle to burn the fuel. I have used a tuning glass that you screw into the parkplug hole to see what color spark is and at idle its yellow and the higher she revs it turns blue. I am running LED head light and tail lights. How can i set the sparkplug to burn hotter at idle? Everything stock standared. Thanks

I set the stator and engine "marks"(on the casing and stator) to line up in January when I change the crank clutch oil seal. (0.5mm advance) Last week I notice the exhaust is wet. if the scooter idles for more then 5min the sparkplug dies (wet). I think the spark is not strong at idle. yesterday I looked at the points. 0.70mm I then set it to 0.32mm. took it for a test drive, the exhaust was dry. But I still face the problem that the sparkplug dies when I idle the scooter especially when engine cold. "I always start and ride" ua-cam.com/video/5mcIf2Fvpc4/v-deo.html

All the same cheap stuff, just different colours and bra ds, look at the typical 4 coils, also parmakir, vespatronic, pinasco, vmc, evergreen etc. Wouldnt buy it.
Also horrible low power at low revs, seriously lools like 6v back in the days...

Hello, is that ignition variable? I ask about the movement when accelerating. Tell me, how to know which grade is better? less degrees (19 °) for high rpm? or 21 °. I don't know if I explain myself. I want to understand well how to find the best grade according to the cubic centimeters of the engine.

Yes variable. Static value is 17-18 degree for all tunings 177-244. Two ways are getting you there, or thats at least the way i do it: 1) where does the engine have its biggest power? put 17-18 degree there 2) in which rev area will you ride the engine the most? put 17-18 degree there. Should I set it to 18 degrees at revs?
